ਆਖੁ ਗੁਣਾ ਕਲਿ ਆਈਐ ॥ |
aakh gunaa kal aaeeai || |
Chant the Praises of the Lord; Kali Yuga has come. |

ਤਿਹੁ ਜੁਗ ਕੇਰਾ ਰਹਿਆ ਤਪਾਵਸੁ ਜੇ ਗੁਣ ਦੇਹਿ ਤ ਪਾਈਐ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
thihu jug kaeraa rehiaa thapaavas jae gun dhaehi th paaeeai ||1|| rehaao || |
The justice of the previous three ages is gone. One obtains virtue, only if the Lord bestows it. ||1||Pause|| |

ਕਲਿ ਕਲਵਾਲੀ ਸਰਾ ਨਿਬੇੜੀ ਕਾਜੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਹੋਆ ॥ |
kal kalavaalee saraa nibaerree kaajee kirasanaa hoaa || |
In this turbulent age of Kali Yuga, Muslim law decides the cases, and the blue-robed Qazi is the judge. |

ਬਾਣੀ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਬੇਦੁ ਅਥਰਬਣੁ ਕਰਣੀ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਲਹਿਆ ॥੫॥ |
baanee brehamaa baedh athharaban karanee keerath lehiaa ||5|| |
The Guru's Bani has taken the place of Brahma's Veda, and the singing of the Lord's Praises are good deeds. ||5|| |

ਪਤਿ ਵਿਣੁ ਪੂਜਾ ਸਤ ਵਿਣੁ ਸੰਜਮੁ ਜਤ ਵਿਣੁ ਕਾਹੇ ਜਨੇਊ ॥ |
path vin poojaa sath vin sanjam jath vin kaahae janaeoo || |
Worship without faith; self-discipline without truthfulness; the ritual of the sacred thread without chastity - what good are these? |

ਨਾਵਹੁ ਧੋਵਹੁ ਤਿਲਕੁ ਚੜਾਵਹੁ ਸੁਚ ਵਿਣੁ ਸੋਚ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥੬॥ |
naavahu dhhovahu thilak charraavahu such vin soch n hoee ||6|| |
You may bathe and wash, and apply a ritualistic tilak mark to your forehead, but without inner purity, there is no understanding. ||6|| |

ਕਲਿ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ਕਤੇਬ ਕੁਰਾਣੁ ॥ |
kal paravaan kathaeb kuraan || |
In Kali Yuga, the Koran and the Bible have become famous. |
|
ਪੋਥੀ ਪੰਡਿਤ ਰਹੇ ਪੁਰਾਣ ॥ |
pothhee panddith rehae puraan || |
The Pandit's scriptures and the Puraanas are not respected. |
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਉ ਭਇਆ ਰਹਮਾਣੁ ॥ |
naanak naao bhaeiaa rehamaan || |
O Nanak, the Lord's Name now is Rehmaan, the Merciful. |

ਕਰਿ ਕਰਤਾ ਤੂ ਏਕੋ ਜਾਣੁ ॥੭॥ |
kar karathaa thoo eaeko jaan ||7|| |
Know that there is only One Creator of the creation. ||7|| |

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਏਦੂ ਉਪਰਿ ਕਰਮੁ ਨਹੀ ॥ |
naanak naam milai vaddiaaee eaedhoo oupar karam nehee || |
Nanak has obtained the glorious greatness of the Naam, the Name of the Lord. There is no action higher than this. |

ਜੇ ਘਰਿ ਹੋਦੈ ਮੰਗਣਿ ਜਾਈਐ ਫਿਰਿ ਓਲਾਮਾ ਮਿਲੈ ਤਹੀ ॥੮॥੧॥ |
jae ghar hodhai mangan jaaeeai fir oulaamaa milai thehee ||8||1|| |
If someone goes out to beg for what is already in his own home, then he should be chastised. ||8||1|| |

You preach to the world, and set up your house. |

ਆਸਣੁ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਕਾਹੇ ਸਚੁ ਪਾਵਹਿ ॥ |
aasan thiaag kaahae sach paavehi || |
Abandoning your Yogic postures, how will you find the True Lord? |

ਮਮਤਾ ਮੋਹੁ ਕਾਮਣਿ ਹਿਤਕਾਰੀ ॥ |
mamathaa mohu kaaman hithakaaree || |
You are attached to possessiveness and the love of sexual pleasure. |
|
ਨਾ ਅਉਧੂਤੀ ਨਾ ਸੰਸਾਰੀ ॥੧॥ |
naa aoudhhoothee naa sansaaree ||1|| |
You are not a renunciate, nor a man of the world. ||1|| |

ਜੋਗੀ ਬੈਸਿ ਰਹਹੁ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਭਾਗੈ ॥ |
jogee bais rehahu dhubidhhaa dhukh bhaagai || |
Yogi, remain seated, and the pain of duality will run away from you. |

ਘਰਿ ਘਰਿ ਮਾਗਤ ਲਾਜ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
ghar ghar maagath laaj n laagai ||1|| rehaao || |
You beg from door to door, and you don't feel ashamed. ||1||Pause|| |

ਗਾਵਹਿ ਗੀਤ ਨ ਚੀਨਹਿ ਆਪੁ ॥ |
gaavehi geeth n cheenehi aap || |
You sing the songs, but you do not understand your own self. |
|
ਕਿਉ ਲਾਗੀ ਨਿਵਰੈ ਪਰਤਾਪੁ ॥ |
kio laagee nivarai parathaap || |
How will the burning pain within be relieved? |
|
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਰਚੈ ਮਨ ਭਾਇ ॥ |
gur kai sabadh rachai man bhaae || |
Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, let your mind be absorbed in the Lord's Love, |

ਭਿਖਿਆ ਸਹਜ ਵੀਚਾਰੀ ਖਾਇ ॥੨॥ |
bhikhiaa sehaj veechaaree khaae ||2|| |
and you will intuitively experience the charity of contemplation. ||2|| |

ਭਸਮ ਚੜਾਇ ਕਰਹਿ ਪਾਖੰਡੁ ॥ |
bhasam charraae karehi paakhandd || |
You apply ashes to your body, while acting in hypocrisy. |
|
ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿ ਸਹਹਿ ਜਮ ਡੰਡੁ ॥ |
maaeiaa mohi sehehi jam ddandd || |
Attached to Maya, you will be beaten by Death's heavy club. |
|
ਫੂਟੈ ਖਾਪਰੁ ਭੀਖ ਨ ਭਾਇ ॥ |
foottai khaapar bheekh n bhaae || |
Your begging bowl is broken; it will not hold the charity of the Lord's Love. |
|
ਬੰਧਨਿ ਬਾਧਿਆ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਇ ॥੩॥ |
bandhhan baadhhiaa aavai jaae ||3|| |
Bound in bondage, you come and go. ||3|| |
|
ਬਿੰਦੁ ਨ ਰਾਖਹਿ ਜਤੀ ਕਹਾਵਹਿ ॥ |
bindh n raakhehi jathee kehaavehi || |
You do not control your seed and semen, and yet you claim to practice abstinence. |
|
ਮਾਈ ਮਾਗਤ ਤ੍ਰੈ ਲੋਭਾਵਹਿ ॥ |
maaee maagath thrai lobhaavehi || |
You beg from Maya, lured by the three qualities. |
|
ਨਿਰਦਇਆ ਨਹੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਉਜਾਲਾ ॥ |
niradhaeiaa nehee joth oujaalaa || |
You have no compassion; the Lord's Light does not shine in you. |
|
ਬੂਡਤ ਬੂਡੇ ਸਰਬ ਜੰਜਾਲਾ ॥੪॥ |
booddath booddae sarab janjaalaa ||4|| |
You are drowned, drowned in worldly entanglements. ||4|| |
|
ਭੇਖ ਕਰਹਿ ਖਿੰਥਾ ਬਹੁ ਥਟੂਆ ॥ |
bhaekh karehi khinthhaa bahu thhattooaa || |
You wear religious robes, and your patched coat assumes many disguises. |
|
ਝੂਠੋ ਖੇਲੁ ਖੇਲੈ ਬਹੁ ਨਟੂਆ ॥ |
jhootho khael khaelai bahu nattooaa || |
You play all sorts of false tricks, like a juggler. |
|
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਅਗਨਿ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਬਹੁ ਜਾਰੇ ॥ |
anthar agan chinthaa bahu jaarae || |
The fire of anxiety burns brightly within you. |
|
ਵਿਣੁ ਕਰਮਾ ਕੈਸੇ ਉਤਰਸਿ ਪਾਰੇ ॥੫॥ |
vin karamaa kaisae outharas paarae ||5|| |
Without the karma of good actions, how can you cross over? ||5|| |
|
ਮੁੰਦ੍ਰਾ ਫਟਕ ਬਨਾਈ ਕਾਨਿ ॥ |
mundhraa fattak banaaee kaan || |
You make ear-rings of glass to wear in your ears. |
|
ਮੁਕਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਬਿਦਿਆ ਬਿਗਿਆਨਿ ॥ |
mukath nehee bidhiaa bigiaan || |
But liberation does not come from learning without understanding. |
|
ਜਿਹਵਾ ਇੰਦ੍ਰੀ ਸਾਦਿ ਲਭਾਨਾ ॥ |
jihavaa eindhree saadh luobhaanaa || |
You are lured by the tastes of the tongue and sex organs. |
|
ਪਸੂ ਭਏ ਨਹੀ ਮਿਟੈ ਨੀਸਾਨਾ ॥੬॥ |
pasoo bheae nehee mittai neesaanaa ||6|| |
You have become a beast; this sign cannot be erased. ||6|| |
|
ਤ੍ਰਿਬਿਧਿ ਲੋਗਾ ਤ੍ਰਿਬਿਧਿ ਜੋਗਾ ॥ |
thribidhh logaa thribidhh jogaa || |
The people of the world are entangled in the three modes; the Yogis are entangled in the three modes. |

ਸਬਦੁ ਵੀਚਾਰੈ ਚੂਕਸਿ ਸੋਗਾ ॥ |
sabadh veechaarai chookas sogaa || |
Contemplating the Word of the Shabad, sorrows are dispelled. |
|
ਊਜਲੁ ਸਾਚੁ ਸੁ ਸਬਦੁ ਹੋਇ ॥ |
oojal saach s sabadh hoe || |
Through the Shabad, one becomes radiant, pure and truthful. |
|
ਜੋਗੀ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੇ ਸੋਇ ॥੭॥ |
jogee jugath veechaarae soe ||7|| |
One who contemplates the true lifestyle is a Yogi. ||7|| |
|
ਤੁਝ ਪਹਿ ਨਉ ਨਿਧਿ ਤੂ ਕਰਣੈ ਜੋਗੁ ॥ |
thujh pehi no nidhh thoo karanai jog || |
The nine treasures are with You, Lord; You are potent, the Cause of causes. |

ਥਾਪਿ ਉਥਾਪੇ ਕਰੇ ਸੁ ਹੋਗੁ ॥ |
thhaap outhhaapae karae s hog || |
You establish and disestablish; whatever You do, happens. |
|
ਜਤੁ ਸਤੁ ਸੰਜਮੁ ਸਚੁ ਸੁਚੀਤੁ ॥ |
jath sath sanjam sach sucheeth || |
One who practices celibacy, chastity, self-control, truth and pure consciousness |

ਨਾਨਕ ਜੋਗੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਭਵਣ ਮੀਤੁ ॥੮॥੨॥ |
naanak jogee thribhavan meeth ||8||2|| |
- O Nanak, that Yogi is the friend of the three worlds. ||8||2|| |

surath sabadh dhhun anthar jaagee || |
Awareness of the vibration of the Word of the Shabad has been awakened deep within. |

ਵਾਜੈ ਅਨਹਦੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਲੀਣਾ ॥ |
vaajai anehadh maeraa man leenaa || |
The unstruck melody of the sound current resonates and resounds within; my mind is attuned to it. |

ਗੁਰ ਬਚਨੀ ਸਚਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਪਤੀਣਾ ॥੧॥ |
gur bachanee sach naam patheenaa ||1|| |
Through the Guru's Teachings, my faith is confirmed in the True Name. ||1|| |

ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਰਾਮ ਭਗਤਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਈਐ ॥ |
praanee raam bhagath sukh paaeeai || |
O mortal, through devotion to the Lord, peace is obtained. |
