| ਪਾਰਸ ਪਰਸੇ ਫਿਰਿ ਪਾਰਸੁ ਹੋਏ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਅਪਣੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰੀ ॥੨॥ |
| paaras parasae fir paaras hoeae har jeeo apanee kirapaa dhhaaree ||2|| |
| Touching the philosopher's stone, they themselves become the philosopher's stone; the Dear Lord Himself blesses them with His Mercy. ||2|| |

| ਇਕਿ ਭੇਖ ਕਰਹਿ ਫਿਰਹਿ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੀ ਤਿਨ ਜੂਐ ਬਾਜੀ ਹਾਰੀ ॥੩॥ |
| eik bhaekh karehi firehi abhimaanee thin jooai baajee haaree ||3|| |
| Some wear religious robes, and wander around in pride; they lose their life in the gamble. ||3|| |

| ਇਕਿ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਉਰਿ ਧਾਰੀ ॥੪॥ |
| eik anadhin bhagath karehi dhin raathee raam naam our dhhaaree ||4|| |
| Some worship the Lord in devotion, night and day; day and night, they keep the Lord's Name enshrined in their hearts. ||4|| |

| ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੇ ਸਹਜੇ ਮਾਤੇ ਸਹਜੇ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰੀ ॥੫॥ |
| anadhin raathae sehajae maathae sehajae houmai maaree ||5|| |
| Those who are imbued with Him night and day, are spontaneously intoxicated with Him; they intuitively conquer their ego. ||5|| |

| ਭੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਭਗਤਿ ਨ ਹੋਈ ਕਬ ਹੀ ਭੈ ਭਾਇ ਭਗਤਿ ਸਵਾਰੀ ॥੬॥ |
| bhai bin bhagath n hoee kab hee bhai bhaae bhagath savaaree ||6|| |
| Without the Fear of God, devotional worship is never performed; through the Love and the Fear of God, devotional worship is embellished. ||6|| |

| ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਸਬਦਿ ਜਲਾਇਆ ਗਿਆਨਿ ਤਤਿ ਬੀਚਾਰੀ ॥੭॥ |
| maaeiaa mohu sabadh jalaaeiaa giaan thath beechaaree ||7|| |
| The Shabad burns away emotional attachment to Maya, and then one contemplates the essence of spiritual wisdom. ||7|| |

| ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਕਰਾਏ ਕਰਤਾ ਆਪੇ ਬਖਸਿ ਭੰਡਾਰੀ ॥੮॥ |
| aapae aap karaaeae karathaa aapae bakhas bhanddaaree ||8|| |
| The Creator Himself inspires us to act; He Himself blesses us with His treasure. ||8|| |

| ਤਿਸ ਕਿਆ ਗੁਣਾ ਕਾ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ਹਉ ਗਾਵਾ ਸਬਦਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੀ ॥੯॥ |
| this kiaa gunaa kaa anth n paaeiaa ho gaavaa sabadh veechaaree ||9|| |
| The limits of His virtues cannot be found; I sing His Praises and contemplate the Word of the Shabad. ||9|| |

| ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਜਪੀ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਆਪੁ ਨਿਵਾਰੀ ॥੧੦॥ |
| har jeeo japee har jeeo saalaahee vichahu aap nivaaree ||10|| |
| I chant the Lord's Name, and praise my Dear Lord; egotism is eradicated from within me. ||10|| |

| ਨਾਮੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਪਾਇਆ ਅਖੁਟ ਸਚੇ ਭੰਡਾਰੀ ॥੧੧॥ |
| naam padhaarathh gur thae paaeiaa akhutt sachae bhanddaaree ||11|| |
| The treasure of the Naam is obtained from the Guru; the treasures of the True Lord are inexhaustible. ||11|| |

| ਅਪਣਿਆ ਭਗਤਾ ਨੋ ਆਪੇ ਤੁਠਾ ਅਪਣੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਿ ਕਲ ਧਾਰੀ ॥੧੨॥ |
| apaniaa bhagathaa no aapae thuthaa apanee kirapaa kar kal dhhaaree ||12|| |
| He Himself is pleased with His devotees; by His Grace, He infuses His strength within them. ||12|| |

| ਤਿਨ ਸਾਚੇ ਨਾਮ ਕੀ ਸਦਾ ਭੁਖ ਲਾਗੀ ਗਾਵਨਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੀ ॥੧੩॥ |
| thin saachae naam kee sadhaa bhukh laagee gaavan sabadh veechaaree ||13|| |
| They always feel hunger for the True Name; they sing and contemplate the Shabad. ||13|| |

| ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਹੈ ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਆਖਣੁ ਬਿਖਮੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੀ ॥੧੪॥ |
| jeeo pindd sabh kishh hai this kaa aakhan bikham beechaaree ||14|| |
| Soul, body and everything are His; it is so difficult to speak of, and contemplate Him. ||14|| |

| ਸਬਦਿ ਲਗੇ ਸੇਈ ਜਨ ਨਿਸਤਰੇ ਭਉਜਲੁ ਪਾਰਿ ਉਤਾਰੀ ॥੧੫॥ |
| sabadh lagae saeee jan nisatharae bhoujal paar outhaaree ||15|| |
| Those humble beings who are attached to the Shabad are saved; they cross over the terrifying world-ocean. ||15|| |

| ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਸਾਚੇ ਕੋ ਪਾਰਿ ਨ ਪਾਵੈ ਬੂਝੈ ਕੋ ਵੀਚਾਰੀ ॥੧੬॥ |
| bin har saachae ko paar n paavai boojhai ko veechaaree ||16|| |
| Without the True Lord, no one can cross over; how rare are those who contemplate and understand this. ||16|| |

| ਜੋ ਧੁਰਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਸੋਈ ਪਾਇਆ ਮਿਲਿ ਹਰਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਵਾਰੀ ॥੧੭॥ |
| jo dhhur likhiaa soee paaeiaa mil har sabadh savaaree ||17|| |
| We obtain only that which is pre-ordained; receiving the Lord's Shabad, we are embellished. ||17|| |

| ਕਾਇਆ ਕੰਚਨੁ ਸਬਦੇ ਰਾਤੀ ਸਾਚੈ ਨਾਇ ਪਿਆਰੀ ॥੧੮॥ |
| kaaeiaa kanchan sabadhae raathee saachai naae piaaree ||18|| |
| Imbued with the Shabad, the body becomes golden, and loves only the True Name. ||18|| |

| ਕਾਇਆ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਰਹੀ ਭਰਪੂਰੇ ਪਾਈਐ ਸਬਦਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੀ ॥੧੯॥ |
| kaaeiaa anmrith rehee bharapoorae paaeeai sabadh veechaaree ||19|| |
| The body is then filled to overflowing with Ambrosial Nectar, obtained by contemplating the Shabad. ||19|| |

| ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਖੋਜਹਿ ਸੇਈ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਹੋਰਿ ਫੂਟਿ ਮੂਏ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੀ ॥੨੦॥ |
| jo prabh khojehi saeee paavehi hor foott mooeae ahankaaree ||20|| |
| Those who seek God, find Him; others burst and die from their own egotism. ||20|| |

| ਬਾਦੀ ਬਿਨਸਹਿ ਸੇਵਕ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਹੇਤਿ ਪਿਆਰੀ ॥੨੧॥ |
| baadhee binasehi saevak saevehi gur kai haeth piaaree ||21|| |
| The debaters waste away, while the servants serve, with love and affection for the Guru. ||21|| |

| ਸੋ ਜੋਗੀ ਤਤੁ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੇ ਹਉਮੈ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਮਾਰੀ ॥੨੨॥ |
| so jogee thath giaan beechaarae houmai thrisanaa maaree ||22|| |
| He alone is a Yogi, who contemplates the essence of spiritual wisdom, and conquers egotism and thirsty desire. ||22|| |

| ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਤਿਨੈ ਪਛਾਤਾ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਤੁਮਾਰੀ ॥੨੩॥ |
| sathigur dhaathaa thinai pashhaathaa jis no kirapaa thumaaree ||23|| |
| The True Guru, the Great Giver, is revealed to those upon whom You bestow Your Grace, O Lord. ||23|| |

| ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਨ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਲਾਗੇ ਡੂਬਿ ਮੂਏ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੀ ॥੨੪॥ |
| sathigur n saevehi maaeiaa laagae ddoob mooeae ahankaaree ||24|| |
| Those who do not serve the True Guru, and who are attached to Maya, are drowned; they die in their own egotism. ||24|| |

| ਜਿਚਰੁ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਸਾਸੁ ਤਿਚਰੁ ਸੇਵਾ ਕੀਚੈ ਜਾਇ ਮਿਲੀਐ ਰਾਮ ਮੁਰਾਰੀ ॥੨੫॥ |
| jichar andhar saas thichar saevaa keechai jaae mileeai raam muraaree ||25|| |
| As long as there is breath within you, so long you should serve the Lord; then, you will go and meet the Lord. ||25|| |

| ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਜਾਗਤ ਰਹੈ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਅਪਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਪਿਆਰੀ ॥੨੬॥ |
| anadhin jaagath rehai dhin raathee apanae pria preeth piaaree ||26|| |
| Night and day, she remains awake and aware, day and night; she is the darling bride of her Beloved Husband Lord. ||26|| |

| ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਵਾਰੀ ਵਾਰਿ ਘੁਮਾਈ ਅਪਨੇ ਗੁਰ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ॥੨੭॥ |
| than man vaaree vaar ghumaaee apanae gur vittahu balihaaree ||27|| |
| I offer my body and mind in sacrifice to my Guru; I am a sacrifice to Him. ||27|| |

| ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਬਿਨਸਿ ਜਾਇਗਾ ਉਬਰੇ ਸਬਦਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੀ ॥੨੮॥ |
| maaeiaa mohu binas jaaeigaa oubarae sabadh veechaaree ||28|| |
| Attachment to Maya will end and go away; only by contemplating the Shabad will you be saved. ||28|| |

| ਆਪਿ ਜਗਾਏ ਸੇਈ ਜਾਗੇ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੀ ॥੨੯॥ |
| aap jagaaeae saeee jaagae gur kai sabadh veechaaree ||29|| |
| They are awake and aware, whom the Lord Himself awakens; so contemplate the Word of the Guru's Shabad. ||29|| |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਸੇਈ ਮੂਏ ਜਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਚੇਤਹਿ ਭਗਤ ਜੀਵੇ ਵੀਚਾਰੀ ॥੩੦॥੪॥੧੩॥ |
| naanak saeee mooeae j naam n chaethehi bhagath jeevae veechaaree ||30||4||13|| |
| O Nanak, those who do not remember the Naam are dead. The devotees live in contemplative meditation. ||30||4||13|| |
