| ਅਪਨੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਹੁ ਭਗਵੰਤਾ ॥ |
| apanee kirapaa karahu bhagavanthaa || |
| Please shower me with Your Mercy, O Lord God! |

| ਛਾਡਿ ਸਿਆਨਪ ਬਹੁ ਚਤੁਰਾਈ ॥ |
| shhaadd siaanap bahu chathuraaee || |
| I have given up my excessive cleverness and scheming, |
|
| ਸੰਤਨ ਕੀ ਮਨ ਟੇਕ ਟਿਕਾਈ ॥ |
| santhan kee man ttaek ttikaaee || |
| and I have taken the support of the Saints as my mind's support. |
|
| ਛਾਰੁ ਕੀ ਪੁਤਰੀ ਪਰਮ ਗਤਿ ਪਾਈ ॥ |
| shhaar kee putharee param gath paaee || |
| Even a puppet of ashes attains the supreme status, |
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਜਾ ਕਉ ਸੰਤ ਸਹਾਈ ॥੨੩॥ |
| naanak jaa ko santh sehaaee ||23|| |
| O Nanak, if it has the help and support of the Saints. ||23|| |

| ਜੋਰ ਜੁਲਮ ਫੂਲਹਿ ਘਨੋ ਕਾਚੀ ਦੇਹ ਬਿਕਾਰ ॥ |
| jor julam foolehi ghano kaachee dhaeh bikaar || |
| Practicing oppression and tyranny, he puffs himself up; he acts in corruption with his frail, perishable body. |

| ਅਹੰਬੁਧਿ ਬੰਧਨ ਪਰੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮ ਛੁਟਾਰ ॥੧॥ |
| ahanbudhh bandhhan parae naanak naam shhuttaar ||1|| |
| He is bound by his egotistical intellect; O Nanak, salvation comes only through the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||1|| |

| ਜਜਾ ਜਾਨੈ ਹਉ ਕਛੁ ਹੂਆ ॥ |
| jajaa jaanai ho kashh hooaa || |
| JAJJA: When someone, in his ego, believes that he has become something, |
|
| ਬਾਧਿਓ ਜਿਉ ਨਲਿਨੀ ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਸੂਆ ॥ |
| baadhhiou jio nalinee bhram sooaa || |
| he is caught in his error, like a parrot in a trap. |
|
| ਜਉ ਜਾਨੈ ਹਉ ਭਗਤੁ ਗਿਆਨੀ ॥ |
| jo jaanai ho bhagath giaanee || |
| When he believes, in his ego, that he is a devotee and a spiritual teacher, |
|
| ਆਗੈ ਠਾਕੁਰਿ ਤਿਲੁ ਨਹੀ ਮਾਨੀ ॥ |
| aagai thaakur thil nehee maanee || |
| then, in the world hereafter, the Lord of the Universe shall have no regard for him at all. |
|
| ਜਉ ਜਾਨੈ ਮੈ ਕਥਨੀ ਕਰਤਾ ॥ |
| jo jaanai mai kathhanee karathaa || |
| When he believes himself to be a preacher, |
|
| ਬਿਆਪਾਰੀ ਬਸੁਧਾ ਜਿਉ ਫਿਰਤਾ ॥ |
| biaapaaree basudhhaa jio firathaa || |
| he is merely a peddler wandering over the earth. |
|
| ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਜਿਹ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰੀ ॥ |
| saadhhasang jih houmai maaree || |
| But one who conquers his ego in the Company of the Holy, |
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਤਾ ਕਉ ਮਿਲੇ ਮੁਰਾਰੀ ॥੨੪॥ |
| naanak thaa ko milae muraaree ||24|| |
| O Nanak, meets the Lord. ||24|| |

| ਝਾਲਾਘੇ ਉਠਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਿ ਨਿਸਿ ਬਾਸੁਰ ਆਰਾਧਿ ॥ |
| jhaalaaghae outh naam jap nis baasur aaraadhh || |
| Rise early in the morning, and chant the Naam; worship and adore the Lord, night and day. |

| ਕਾਰ੍ਹਾ ਤੁਝੈ ਨ ਬਿਆਪਈ ਨਾਨਕ ਮਿਟੈ ਉਪਾਧਿ ॥੧॥ |

| Anxiety shall not afflict you, O Nanak, and your misfortune shall vanish. ||1|| |

| JHAJHA: Your sorrows shall depart, |

| ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਉ ਕਰਿ ਬਿਉਹਾਰੋ ॥ |
| raam naam sio kar biouhaaro || |
| when you deal with the Lord's Name. |
|
| ਝੂਰਤ ਝੂਰਤ ਸਾਕਤ ਮੂਆ ॥ |
| jhoorath jhoorath saakath mooaa || |
| The faithless cynic dies in sorrow and pain; |
|
| ਜਾ ਕੈ ਰਿਦੈ ਹੋਤ ਭਾਉ ਬੀਆ ॥ |
| jaa kai ridhai hoth bhaao beeaa || |
| his heart is filled with the love of duality. |
|
| ਝਰਹਿ ਕਸੰਮਲ ਪਾਪ ਤੇਰੇ ਮਨੂਆ ॥ |
| jharehi kasanmal paap thaerae manooaa || |
| Your evil deeds and sins shall fall away, O my mind, |
|
| ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਕਥਾ ਸੰਤਸੰਗਿ ਸੁਨੂਆ ॥ |
| anmrith kathhaa santhasang sunooaa || |
| listening to the ambrosial speech in the Society of the Saints. |
|
| ਝਰਹਿ ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਦ੍ਰੁਸਟਾਈ ॥ |
| jharehi kaam krodhh dhraasattaaee || |
| Sexual desire, anger and wickedness fall away, |
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਜਾ ਕਉ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਗੁਸਾਈ ॥੨੫॥ |
| naanak jaa ko kirapaa gusaaee ||25|| |
| O Nanak, from those who are blessed by the Mercy of the Lord of the World. ||25|| |

| ਞਤਨ ਕਰਹੁ ਤੁਮ ਅਨਿਕ ਬਿਧਿ ਰਹਨੁ ਨ ਪਾਵਹੁ ਮੀਤ ॥ |
| njathan karahu thum anik bidhh rehan n paavahu meeth || |
| You can try all sorts of things, but you still cannot remain here, my friend. |

| ਜੀਵਤ ਰਹਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਭਜਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮ ਪਰੀਤਿ ॥੧॥ |
| jeevath rehahu har har bhajahu naanak naam pareeth ||1|| |
| But you shall live forevermore, O Nanak, if you vibrate and love the Naam, the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. ||1|| |

| njannjaa njaanahu dhrirr sehee binas jaath eaeh haeth || |
| NYANYA: Know this as absolutely correct, that that this ordinary love shall come to an end. |

| ਗਣਤੀ ਗਣਉ ਨ ਗਣਿ ਸਕਉ ਊਠਿ ਸਿਧਾਰੇ ਕੇਤ ॥ |
| ganathee gano n gan sako ooth sidhhaarae kaeth || |
| You may count and calculate as much as you want, but you cannot count how many have arisen and departed. |

| ਞੋ ਪੇਖਉ ਸੋ ਬਿਨਸਤਉ ਕਾ ਸਿਉ ਕਰੀਐ ਸੰਗੁ ॥ |
| njo paekho so binasatho kaa sio kareeai sang || |
| Whoever I see shall perish. With whom should I associate? |
|
| ਞਾਣਹੁ ਇਆ ਬਿਧਿ ਸਹੀ ਚਿਤ ਝੂਠਉ ਮਾਇਆ ਰੰਗੁ ॥ |
| njaanahu eiaa bidhh sehee chith jhootho maaeiaa rang || |
| Know this as true in your consciousness, that the love of Maya is false. |
|
| ਞਾਣਤ ਸੋਈ ਸੰਤੁ ਸੁਇ ਭ੍ਰਮ ਤੇ ਕੀਚਿਤ ਭਿੰਨ ॥ |
| njaanath soee santh sue bhram thae keechith bhinn || |
| He alone knows, and he alone is a Saint, who is free of doubt. |
|
| ਅੰਧ ਕੂਪ ਤੇ ਤਿਹ ਕਢਹੁ ਜਿਹ ਹੋਵਹੁ ਸੁਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ॥ |
| andhh koop thae thih kadtahu jih hovahu suprasann || |
| He is lifted up and out of the deep dark pit; the Lord is totally pleased with him. |

| ਞਾ ਕੈ ਹਾਥਿ ਸਮਰਥ ਤੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਕਰਨੈ ਜੋਗ ॥ |
| njaa kai haathh samarathh thae kaaran karanai jog || |
| God's Hand is All-powerful; He is the Creator, the Cause of causes. |
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਹ ਉਸਤਤਿ ਕਰਉ ਞਾਹੂ ਕੀਓ ਸੰਜੋਗ ॥੨੬॥ |
| naanak thih ousathath karo njaahoo keeou sanjog ||26|| |
| O Nanak, praise the One, who joins us to Himself. ||26|| |

| ttoottae bandhhan janam maran saadhh saev sukh paae || |
| The bondage of birth and death is broken and peace is obtained, by serving the Holy. |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਮਨਹੁ ਨ ਬੀਸਰੈ ਗੁਣ ਨਿਧਿ ਗੋਬਿਦ ਰਾਇ ॥੧॥ |
| naanak manahu n beesarai gun nidhh gobidh raae ||1|| |
| O Nanak, may I never forget from my mind, the Treasure of Virtue, the Sovereign Lord of the Universe. ||1|| |

| ttehal karahu tho eaek kee jaa thae brithhaa n koe || |
| Work for the One Lord; no one returns empty-handed from Him. |
|
| ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਮੁਖਿ ਹੀਐ ਬਸੈ ਜੋ ਚਾਹਹੁ ਸੋ ਹੋਇ ॥ |
| man than mukh heeai basai jo chaahahu so hoe || |
| When the Lord abides within your mind, body, mouth and heart, then whatever you desire shall come to pass. |
|
| ਟਹਲ ਮਹਲ ਤਾ ਕਉ ਮਿਲੈ ਜਾ ਕਉ ਸਾਧ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ॥ |
| ttehal mehal thaa ko milai jaa ko saadhh kirapaal || |
| He alone obtains the Lord's service, and the Mansion of His Presence, unto whom the Holy Saint is compassionate. |
|
| ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਤਉ ਬਸੈ ਜਉ ਆਪਨ ਹੋਹਿ ਦਇਆਲ ॥ |
| saadhhoo sangath tho basai jo aapan hohi dhaeiaal || |
| He joins the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, only when the Lord Himself shows His Mercy. |
|
| ਟੋਹੇ ਟਾਹੇ ਬਹੁ ਭਵਨ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਨਾਹਿ ॥ |
| ttohae ttaahae bahu bhavan bin naavai sukh naahi || |
| I have searched and searched, across so many worlds, but without the Name, there is no peace. |
|
| ਟਲਹਿ ਜਾਮ ਕੇ ਦੂਤ ਤਿਹ ਜੁ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਮਾਹਿ ॥ |
| ttalehi jaam kae dhooth thih j saadhhoo sang samaahi || |
| The Messenger of Death retreats from those who dwell in the Saadh Sangat. |
|
| ਬਾਰਿ ਬਾਰਿ ਜਾਉ ਸੰਤ ਸਦਕੇ ॥ |
| baar baar jaao santh sadhakae || |
| Again and again, I am forever devoted to the Saints. |
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਪਾਪ ਬਿਨਾਸੇ ਕਦਿ ਕੇ ॥੨੭॥ |
| naanak paap binaasae kadh kae ||27|| |
| O Nanak, my sins from so long ago have been erased. ||27|| |

| thaak n hothee thinahu dhar jih hovahu suprasann || |
| Those beings, with whom the Lord is thoroughly pleased, meet with no obstacles at His Door. |

| ਜੋ ਜਨ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਕਰੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਤੇ ਧਨਿ ਧੰਨਿ ॥੧॥ |
| jo jan prabh apunae karae naanak thae dhhan dhhann ||1|| |
| Those humble beings whom God has made His own, O Nanak, are blessed, so very blessed. ||1|| |
