ਅੰਤੁ ਨਹੀ ਕਿਛੁ ਪਾਰਾਵਾਰਾ ॥ |
anth nehee kishh paaraavaaraa || |
He has no end or limitation. |

ਹੁਕਮੇ ਧਾਰਿ ਅਧਰ ਰਹਾਵੈ ॥ |
hukamae dhhaar adhhar rehaavai || |
By His Order, He established the earth, and He maintains it unsupported. |
|
ਹੁਕਮੇ ਉਪਜੈ ਹੁਕਮਿ ਸਮਾਵੈ ॥ |
hukamae oupajai hukam samaavai || |
By His Order, the world was created; by His Order, it shall merge again into Him. |
|
ਹੁਕਮੇ ਊਚ ਨੀਚ ਬਿਉਹਾਰ ॥ |
hukamae ooch neech biouhaar || |
By His Order, one's occupation is high or low. |
|
ਹੁਕਮੇ ਅਨਿਕ ਰੰਗ ਪਰਕਾਰ ॥ |
hukamae anik rang parakaar || |
By His Order, there are so many colors and forms. |
|
ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਦੇਖੈ ਅਪਨੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥ |
kar kar dhaekhai apanee vaddiaaee || |
Having created the Creation, He beholds His own greatness. |
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਈ ॥੧॥ |
naanak sabh mehi rehiaa samaaee ||1|| |
O Nanak, He is pervading in all. ||1|| |
|
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਵੈ ਮਾਨੁਖ ਗਤਿ ਪਾਵੈ ॥ |
prabh bhaavai maanukh gath paavai || |
If it pleases God, one attains salvation. |
|
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਾ ਪਾਥਰ ਤਰਾਵੈ ॥ |
prabh bhaavai thaa paathhar tharaavai || |
If it pleases God, then even stones can swim. |
|
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਵੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਾਸ ਤੇ ਰਾਖੈ ॥ |
prabh bhaavai bin saas thae raakhai || |
If it pleases God, the body is preserved, even without the breath of life. |
|
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਭਾਖੈ ॥ |
prabh bhaavai thaa har gun bhaakhai || |
If it pleases God, then one chants the Lord's Glorious Praises. |
|
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਾ ਪਤਿਤ ਉਧਾਰੈ ॥ |
prabh bhaavai thaa pathith oudhhaarai || |
If it pleases God, then even sinners are saved. |
|
ਆਪਿ ਕਰੈ ਆਪਨ ਬੀਚਾਰੈ ॥ |
aap karai aapan beechaarai || |
He Himself acts, and He Himself contemplates. |
|
ਦੁਹਾ ਸਿਰਿਆ ਕਾ ਆਪਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ॥ |
dhuhaa siriaa kaa aap suaamee || |
He Himself is the Master of both worlds. |
|
ਖੇਲੈ ਬਿਗਸੈ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ॥ |
khaelai bigasai antharajaamee || |
He plays and He enjoys; He is the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts. |
|
ਜੋ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋ ਕਾਰ ਕਰਾਵੈ ॥ |
jo bhaavai so kaar karaavai || |
As He wills, He causes actions to be done. |
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟੀ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਆਵੈ ॥੨॥ |
naanak dhrisattee avar n aavai ||2|| |
Nanak sees no other than Him. ||2|| |
|
ਕਹੁ ਮਾਨੁਖ ਤੇ ਕਿਆ ਹੋਇ ਆਵੈ ॥ |
kahu maanukh thae kiaa hoe aavai || |
Tell me - what can a mere mortal do? |
|
ਜੋ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋਈ ਕਰਾਵੈ ॥ |
jo this bhaavai soee karaavai || |
Whatever pleases God is what He causes us to do. |
|
ਇਸ ਕੈ ਹਾਥਿ ਹੋਇ ਤਾ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਲੇਇ ॥ |
eis kai haathh hoe thaa sabh kishh laee || |
If it were in our hands, we would grab up everything. |
|
ਜੋ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋਈ ਕਰੇਇ ॥ |
jo this bhaavai soee karaee || |
Whatever pleases God - that is what He does. |
|
ਅਨਜਾਨਤ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਮਹਿ ਰਚੈ ॥ |
anajaanath bikhiaa mehi rachai || |
Through ignorance, people are engrossed in corruption. |
|
ਜੇ ਜਾਨਤ ਆਪਨ ਆਪ ਬਚੈ ॥ |
jae jaanath aapan aap bachai || |
If they knew better, they would save themselves. |
|
ਭਰਮੇ ਭੂਲਾ ਦਹ ਦਿਸਿ ਧਾਵੈ ॥ |
bharamae bhoolaa dheh dhis dhhaavai || |
Deluded by doubt, they wander around in the ten directions. |
|
ਨਿਮਖ ਮਾਹਿ ਚਾਰਿ ਕੁੰਟ ਫਿਰਿ ਆਵੈ ॥ |
nimakh maahi chaar kuntt fir aavai || |
In an instant, their minds go around the four corners of the world and come back again. |
|
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਅਪਨੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਦੇਇ ॥ |
kar kirapaa jis apanee bhagath dhaee || |
Those whom the Lord mercifully blesses with His devotional worship |
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਤੇ ਜਨ ਨਾਮਿ ਮਿਲੇਇ ॥੩॥ |
naanak thae jan naam milaee ||3|| |
- O Nanak, they are absorbed into the Naam. ||3|| |
|
ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਨੀਚ ਕੀਟ ਕਉ ਰਾਜ ॥ |
khin mehi neech keett ko raaj || |
In an instant, the lowly worm is transformed into a king. |
|
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਰੀਬ ਨਿਵਾਜ ॥ |
paarabreham gareeb nivaaj || |
The Supreme Lord God is the Protector of the humble. |
|
ਜਾ ਕਾ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਆਵੈ ॥ |
jaa kaa dhrisatt kashhoo n aavai || |
Even one who has never been seen at all, |
|
ਤਿਸੁ ਤਤਕਾਲ ਦਹ ਦਿਸ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਾਵੈ ॥ |
this thathakaal dheh dhis pragattaavai || |
becomes instantly famous in the ten directions. |
|
ਜਾ ਕਉ ਅਪੁਨੀ ਕਰੈ ਬਖਸੀਸ ॥ |
jaa ko apunee karai bakhasees || |
And that one upon whom He bestows His blessings |
|
ਤਾ ਕਾ ਲੇਖਾ ਨ ਗਨੈ ਜਗਦੀਸ ॥ |
thaa kaa laekhaa n ganai jagadhees || |
the Lord of the world does not hold him to his account. |
|
ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਸਭ ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਰਾਸਿ ॥ |
jeeo pindd sabh this kee raas || |
Soul and body are all His property. |
|
ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਪੂਰਨ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸ ॥ |
ghatt ghatt pooran breham pragaas || |
Each and every heart is illuminated by the Perfect Lord God. |
|
ਅਪਨੀ ਬਣਤ ਆਪਿ ਬਨਾਈ ॥ |
apanee banath aap banaaee || |
He Himself fashioned His own handiwork. |
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਜੀਵੈ ਦੇਖਿ ਬਡਾਈ ॥੪॥ |
naanak jeevai dhaekh baddaaee ||4|| |
Nanak lives by beholding His greatness. ||4|| |
|
ਇਸ ਕਾ ਬਲੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਇਸੁ ਹਾਥ ॥ |
eis kaa bal naahee eis haathh || |
There is no power in the hands of mortal beings; |
|
ਕਰਨ ਕਰਾਵਨ ਸਰਬ ਕੋ ਨਾਥ ॥ |
karan karaavan sarab ko naathh || |
the Doer, the Cause of causes is the Lord of all. |
|
ਆਗਿਆਕਾਰੀ ਬਪੁਰਾ ਜੀਉ ॥ |
aagiaakaaree bapuraa jeeo || |
The helpless beings are subject to His Command. |
|
ਜੋ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋਈ ਫੁਨਿ ਥੀਉ ॥ |
jo this bhaavai soee fun thheeo || |
That which pleases Him, ultimately comes to pass. |
|
ਕਬਹੂ ਊਚ ਨੀਚ ਮਹਿ ਬਸੈ ॥ |
kabehoo ooch neech mehi basai || |
Sometimes, they abide in exaltation; sometimes, they are depressed. |
|
ਕਬਹੂ ਸੋਗ ਹਰਖ ਰੰਗਿ ਹਸੈ ॥ |
kabehoo sog harakh rang hasai || |
Sometimes, they are sad, and sometimes they laugh with joy and delight. |
|
ਕਬਹੂ ਨਿੰਦ ਚਿੰਦ ਬਿਉਹਾਰ ॥ |
kabehoo nindh chindh biouhaar || |
Sometimes, they are occupied with slander and anxiety. |
|
ਕਬਹੂ ਊਭ ਅਕਾਸ ਪਇਆਲ ॥ |
kabehoo oobh akaas paeiaal || |
Sometimes, they are high in the Akaashic Ethers, sometimes in the nether regions of the underworld. |
|
ਕਬਹੂ ਬੇਤਾ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਬੀਚਾਰ ॥ |
kabehoo baethaa breham beechaar || |
Sometimes, they know the contemplation of God. |
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਪਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਹਾਰ ॥੫॥ |
naanak aap milaavanehaar ||5|| |
O Nanak, God Himself unites them with Himself. ||5|| |
|
ਕਬਹੂ ਨਿਰਤਿ ਕਰੈ ਬਹੁ ਭਾਤਿ ॥ |
kabehoo nirath karai bahu bhaath || |
Sometimes, they dance in various ways. |
|
ਕਬਹੂ ਸੋਇ ਰਹੈ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤਿ ॥ |
kabehoo soe rehai dhin raath || |
Sometimes, they remain asleep day and night. |
|
ਕਬਹੂ ਮਹਾ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਬਿਕਰਾਲ ॥ |
kabehoo mehaa krodhh bikaraal || |
Sometimes, they are awesome, in terrible rage. |
|
ਕਬਹੂੰ ਸਰਬ ਕੀ ਹੋਤ ਰਵਾਲ ॥ |
kabehoon sarab kee hoth ravaal || |
Sometimes, they are the dust of the feet of all. |
|
ਕਬਹੂ ਹੋਇ ਬਹੈ ਬਡ ਰਾਜਾ ॥ |
kabehoo hoe behai badd raajaa || |
Sometimes, they sit as great kings. |
|
ਕਬਹੁ ਭੇਖਾਰੀ ਨੀਚ ਕਾ ਸਾਜਾ ॥ |
kabahu bhaekhaaree neech kaa saajaa || |
Sometimes, they wear the coat of a lowly beggar. |
|
ਕਬਹੂ ਅਪਕੀਰਤਿ ਮਹਿ ਆਵੈ ॥ |
kabehoo apakeerath mehi aavai || |
Sometimes, they come to have evil reputations. |
|
ਕਬਹੂ ਭਲਾ ਭਲਾ ਕਹਾਵੈ ॥ |
kabehoo bhalaa bhalaa kehaavai || |
Sometimes, they are known as very, very good. |
|
ਜਿਉ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਰਾਖੈ ਤਿਵ ਹੀ ਰਹੈ ॥ |
jio prabh raakhai thiv hee rehai || |
As God keeps them, so they remain. |
|
ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਚੁ ਕਹੈ ॥੬॥ |
gur prasaadh naanak sach kehai ||6|| |
By Guru's Grace, O Nanak, the Truth is told. ||6|| |

ਕਬਹੂ ਹੋਇ ਪੰਡਿਤੁ ਕਰੇ ਬਖ੍ਯ੍ਯਾਨੁ ॥ |
kabehoo hoe panddith karae bakhyaan || |
Sometimes, as scholars, they deliver lectures. |
|
ਕਬਹੂ ਮੋਨਿਧਾਰੀ ਲਾਵੈ ਧਿਆਨੁ ॥ |
kabehoo monidhhaaree laavai dhhiaan || |
Sometimes, they hold to silence in deep meditation. |
|
ਕਬਹੂ ਤਟ ਤੀਰਥ ਇਸਨਾਨ ॥ |
kabehoo thatt theerathh eisanaan || |
Sometimes, they take cleansing baths at places of pilgrimage. |
|
ਕਬਹੂ ਸਿਧ ਸਾਧਿਕ ਮੁਖਿ ਗਿਆਨ ॥ |
kabehoo sidhh saadhhik mukh giaan || |
Sometimes, as Siddhas or seekers, they impart spiritual wisdom. |
|
ਕਬਹੂ ਕੀਟ ਹਸਤਿ ਪਤੰਗ ਹੋਇ ਜੀਆ ॥ |
kabehoo keett hasath pathang hoe jeeaa || |
Sometimes, they becomes worms, elephants, or moths. |
|
ਅਨਿਕ ਜੋਨਿ ਭਰਮੈ ਭਰਮੀਆ ॥ |
anik jon bharamai bharameeaa || |
They may wander and roam through countless incarnations. |
