| So many endure distress, deprivation and constant abuse. |

| ਦੂਜੈ ਲਾਗਿ ਜਗੁ ਖਪਿ ਖਪਿ ਮੂਆ ॥ |
| dhoojai laag jag khap khap mooaa || |
| Attached to duality, the world is distracted and distressed to death. |
|
| ਹਰਿ ਤੁਧੁ ਵਿਣੁ ਖਾਕੂ ਰੂਲਣਾ ਕਹੀਐ ਕਿਥੈ ਵੈਣ ॥ |
| har thudhh vin khaakoo roolanaa keheeai kithhai vain || |
| Without You, Lord, we roll around in the dust. Unto whom should we utter our cries of distress? |

| ਮਾਊ ਪੀਊ ਕਿਰਤੁ ਗਵਾਇਨਿ ਟਬਰ ਰੋਵਨਿ ਧਾਹੀ ॥ |
| maaoo peeoo kirath gavaaein ttabar rovan dhhaahee || |
| They have renounced the lifestyle of their mothers and fathers, and their families and relatives cry out in distress. |

| ਦੁਖਹਰਣ ਦੀਨ ਸਰਣ ਸ੍ਰੀਧਰ ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਅਰਾਧੀਐ ॥ |
| dhukheharan dheen saran sreedhhar charan kamal araadhheeai || |
| Meditate lovingly on the Lotus Feet of the Lord, the Destroyer of distress, the Protector of the poor, the Lord of excellence. |

| ਦੂਖ ਬਿਨਾਸਨੀ ਹਾਂ ॥ |
| dhookh binaasanee haan || |
| He is the Dispeller of distress. |
|
| ਸਭਨਾ ਕਾ ਦਾਤਾ ਕਰਮ ਬਿਧਾਤਾ ਦੂਖ ਬਿਸਾਰਣਹਾਰੁ ਜੀਉ ॥ |
| sabhanaa kaa dhaathaa karam bidhhaathaa dhookh bisaaranehaar jeeo || |
| You are the Giver of all, the Architect of Destiny, the Dispeller of distress. |

| ਦੂਖ ਬਿਸਾਰਣਹਾਰੁ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਕਾ ਹੋਵੈ ॥ |
| dhookh bisaaranehaar suaamee keethaa jaa kaa hovai || |
| The Lord Master is the Dispeller of distress; all that happens is by His doing. |

| ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਰਤਾ ਦੂਖ ਬਿਨਾਸਨੁ ਪਤਿਤ ਪਾਵਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜੀਉ ॥ |
| har har karathaa dhookh binaasan pathith paavan har naam jeeo || |
| The Creator Lord, Har, Har, is the Destroyer of distress; the Name of the Lord is the Purifier of sinners. |

| ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਰਤਾ ਦੂਖ ਬਿਨਾਸਨੁ ਪਤਿਤ ਪਾਵਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥ |
| har har karathaa dhookh binaasan pathith paavan har naam jeeo ||1|| |
| The Creator Lord, Har, Har, is the Destroyer of distress; the Name of the Lord is the Purifier of sinners. ||1|| |

| ਬਨਿ ਭੀਹਾਵਲੈ ਹਿਕੁ ਸਾਥੀ ਲਧਮੁ ਦੁਖ ਹਰਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਾ ॥ |
| ban bheehaavalai hik saathhee ladhham dhukh harathaa har naamaa || |
| In the dreadful wilderness, I have found the one and only companion; the Name of the Lord is the Destroyer of distress. |

| ਭਏ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ਦਇਆਲ ਦੁਖ ਭੰਜਨ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਗਲ ਅੰਦੇਸਰਾ ਗਇਆ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| bheae kirapaal dhaeiaal dhukh bhanjan maeraa sagal andhaesaraa gaeiaa || rehaao || |
| The Destroyer of distress has become kind and merciful, and all my anxiety is over. ||Pause|| |

| ਪਤਿਤ ਪੁਨੀਤ ਗੋਬਿੰਦਹ ਸਰਬ ਦੋਖ ਨਿਵਾਰਣਹ ॥ |
| pathith puneeth gobindheh sarab dhokh nivaaraneh || |
| The Lord of the Universe is the Purifier of sinners; He is the Dispeller of all distress. |

| ਯਾਸੁ ਜਪਤ ਮਨਿ ਹੋਇ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਬਿਨਸੈ ਦੂਜਾ ਭਾਉ ॥ਦੂਖ ਦਰਦ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਬੁਝੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਉ ॥੧॥ |
| yaas japath man hoe anandh binasai dhoojaa bhaao || dhookh dharadh thrisanaa bujhai naanak naam samaao ||1|| |
| Chanting it, the mind is filled with bliss; love of duality is eliminated, and pain, distress and desires are quenched. O Nanak, immerse yourself in the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||1|| |

| All sins and vices are eradicated, and one shall never again suffer pain or distress. ||7|| |
