| ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਵੇਖੈ ਨਦਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਲ ॥ |
| kar kar vaekhai nadhar nihaal || |
| Having created the creation, He watches over it. By His Glance of Grace, He bestows happiness. |

| ਸਰਬ ਸੁਖਾ ਸੁਖ ਊਪਜਹਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਪੈਧਾ ਜਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| sarab sukhaa sukh oopajehi dharageh paidhhaa jaae ||1|| rehaao || |
| The happiness of all happiness shall well up, and in the Court of the Lord, you shall be dressed in robes of honor. ||1||Pause|| |
|
| ਸੁਖਾ ਕੀ ਮਿਤਿ ਕਿਆ ਗਣੀ ਜਾ ਸਿਮਰੀ ਗੋਵਿੰਦੁ ॥ |
| sukhaa kee mith kiaa ganee jaa simaree govindh || |
| How can I measure the happiness of meditating on the Lord of the Universe? |

| ਤਿਚਰੁ ਵਸਹਿ ਸੁਹੇਲੜੀ ਜਿਚਰੁ ਸਾਥੀ ਨਾਲਿ ॥ |
| thichar vasehi suhaelarree jichar saathhee naal || |
| As long as the soul-companion is with the body, it dwells in happiness. |
|
| ਮੁੰਧੇ ਗੁਣਹੀਣੀ ਸੁਖੁ ਕੇਹਿ ॥ |
| mundhhae guneheenee sukh kaehi || |
| O soul-bride, without virtue, what happiness can there be? |
|
| ਸੁਖ ਕਉ ਮਾਗੈ ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਦੁਖੁ ਨ ਮਾਗੈ ਕੋਇ ॥ |
| sukh ko maagai sabh ko dhukh n maagai koe || |
| Everyone begs for happiness; no one asks for suffering. |
|
| ਸੁਖੈ ਕਉ ਦੁਖੁ ਅਗਲਾ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਬੂਝ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥ |
| sukhai ko dhukh agalaa manamukh boojh n hoe || |
| But in the wake of happiness, there comes great suffering. The self-willed manmukhs do not understand this. |

| ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰੇਮੁ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਰੰਗੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| bin gur praem n paaeeai sabadh milai rang hoe ||1|| rehaao || |
| Without the Guru, love is not found. United with the Shabad, happiness is found. ||1||Pause|| |
|
| ਜਿਉ ਅਧਿਕਉ ਤਿਉ ਸੁਖੁ ਘਣੋ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਸਰੀਰ ॥ |
| jio adhhiko thio sukh ghano man than saanth sareer || |
| The more the water, the more the happiness, and the greater the peace of mind and body. |
|
| ਸਬਦ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਊਪਜੈ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਰਾਤਉ ਸੁਖ ਸਾਰੁ ॥ |
| sabadh surath sukh oopajai prabh raatho sukh saar || |
| Focusing your awareness on the Shabad, happiness wells up. Attuned to God, the most excellent peace is found. |
|
| ਨਾਰੀ ਦੇਖਿ ਵਿਗਾਸੀਅਹਿ ਨਾਲੇ ਹਰਖੁ ਸੁ ਸੋਗੁ ॥ |
| naaree dhaekh vigaaseeahi naalae harakh s sog || |
| Gazing upon his wife, he is pleased. But along with happiness, they bring grief. |
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਸਭੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਸੁਖੁ ਵਿਸਾਰਿਆ ॥੧॥ |
| naanak bin naavai sabh dhukh sukh visaariaa ||1|| |
| O Nanak, without the Name, everything is painful, and happiness is forgotten. ||1|| |
|
| ਸੂਖੁ ਭਇਆ ਦੁਖੁ ਦੂਰਿ ਪਰਾਨਾ ॥ |
| sookh bhaeiaa dhukh dhoor paraanaa || |
| Happiness is obtained, and sorrow runs far away, |
|
| ਗਇਆ ਕਲੇਸੁ ਭਇਆ ਸੁਖੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮਾਲੀ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥ |
| gaeiaa kalaes bhaeiaa sukh saachaa har har naam samaalee jeeo ||1|| |
| Suffering has been dispelled, and true happiness has dawned, as we meditate on the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. ||1|| |
|
| ਜੋ ਤੂੰ ਦੇਹਿ ਸੋਈ ਸੁਖੁ ਸਹਣਾ ॥ |
| jo thoon dhaehi soee sukh sehanaa || |
| Whatever You give me, brings me happiness. |
|
| ਸਭੇ ਸੁਖ ਭਏ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੁਠੇ ॥ |
| sabhae sukh bheae prabh thuthae || |
| All happiness comes, when God is pleased. |
|
| ਵੁਠੈ ਹੋਇਐ ਹੋਇ ਬਿਲਾਵਲੁ ਜੀਆ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਸਮਾਣੀ ॥ |
| vuthai hoeiai hoe bilaaval jeeaa jugath samaanee || |
| When it rains, there is happiness. Water is the key to all life. |
|
| ਜੀਵਤੁ ਮਰੈ ਮਹਾ ਰਸੁ ਆਗੈ ॥੨॥ |
| jeevath marai mehaa ras aagai ||2|| |
| One who remains dead while yet alive obtains the greatest happiness hereafter. ||2|| |
|
| ਇਕਿ ਗਾਵਤ ਰਹੇ ਮਨਿ ਸਾਦੁ ਨ ਪਾਇ ॥ |
| eik gaavath rehae man saadh n paae || |
| Some sing on and on, but their minds do not find happiness. |
|
| ਕਿਨ ਬਿਧਿ ਕੁਸਲੁ ਹੋਤ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ ॥ |
| kin bidhh kusal hoth maerae bhaaee || |
| How can happiness be found, O my Siblings of Destiny? |
|
| ਕੁਸਲੁ ਨ ਗ੍ਰਿਹਿ ਮੇਰੀ ਸਭ ਮਾਇਆ ॥ |
| kusal n grihi maeree sabh maaeiaa || |
| There is no happiness in owning one's own home, in all of Maya |
|
| ਇਨਿ ਬਿਧਿ ਕੁਸਲ ਹੋਤ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ ॥ |
| ein bidhh kusal hoth maerae bhaaee || |
| This is the way to find happiness, O my Siblings of Destiny. |
|
| ਸਰਬ ਕਲਿਆਣ ਸੁਖ ਸਹਜ ਨਿਧਾਨ ॥ |
| sarab kaliaan sukh sehaj nidhhaan || |
| The treasure of all happiness, celestial peace and poise, |
|
| ਨਾਨਕੁ ਦਾਸੁ ਇਹੀ ਸੁਖੁ ਮਾਗੈ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਕਰਿ ਸੰਤਨ ਕੀ ਧੂਰੇ ॥੪॥੩॥੧੨੪॥ |
| naanak dhaas eihee sukh maagai mo ko kar santhan kee dhhoorae ||4||3||124|| |
| Nanak, Your slave, begs for this happiness: let me be the dust of the feet of the Saints. ||4||3||124|| |
|
| ਇਨ ਬਿਧਿ ਕੁਸਲੁ ਤੇਰੈ ਮੇਰੇ ਮੀਤਾ ॥੬॥ |
| ein bidhh kusal thaerai maerae meethaa ||6|| |
| In this way, you too shall find happiness, O my friend. ||6|| |
|
| ਉਆ ਕੈ ਕੁਸਲ ਨ ਕਤਹੂ ਹੂਏ ॥ |
| ouaa kai kusal n kathehoo hooeae || |
| they do not find happiness anywhere. |
|
| ਜਾ ਤੇ ਕੁਸਲ ਨ ਕਾਹੂ ਥੀਆ ॥ |
| jaa thae kusal n kaahoo thheeaa || |
| no one has obtained happiness from these. |
|
| ਖਰੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਭਈ ਅਨਦ ਸੂਖ ਬਿਸ੍ਰਾਮ ॥ |
| kharee kirapaa thaakur bhee anadh sookh bisraam || |
| When my Lord and Master showed His Great Mercy, I found peace, happiness and bliss. |
|
| ਸੰਤ ਕੈ ਦੂਖਨਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਸਭੁ ਜਾਇ ॥ |
| santh kai dhookhan sukh sabh jaae || |
| Slandering the Saints, all happiness vanishes. |
|
| ਅਨਦੁ ਭਇਆ ਦੁਖ ਨਾਠੇ ਭਾਈ ॥ |
| anadh bhaeiaa dhukh naathae bhaaee || |
| Happiness ensues and pain departs, O Siblings of Destiny. |
|
| ਖੇਮ ਕੁਸਲ ਸਹਜ ਆਨੰਦ ॥ |
| khaem kusal sehaj aanandh || |
| Happiness, intuitive peace, poise and bliss |
|
| ਮੋ ਕਉ ਕੁਸਲੁ ਬਤਾਵਹੁ ਕੋਈ ॥ |
| mo ko kusal bathaavahu koee || |
| If only someone would tell me what real happiness is! |
|
| ਕੁਸਲੁ ਕੁਸਲੁ ਕਰਤੇ ਜਗੁ ਬਿਨਸੈ ਕੁਸਲੁ ਭੀ ਕੈਸੇ ਹੋਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| kusal kusal karathae jag binasai kusal bhee kaisae hoee ||1|| rehaao || |
| Speaking of happiness and joy, the world is perishing. How can happiness be found? ||1||Pause|| |

| ਸਾਦ ਸਹਜ ਸੁਖ ਰਸ ਕਸ ਤਜੀਅਲੇ ਕਾਪੜ ਛੋਡੇ ਚਮੜ ਲੀਏ ॥ |
| saadh sehaj sukh ras kas thajeealae kaaparr shhoddae chamarr leeeae || |
| Renouncing tasty delicacies, comfort, happiness and pleasures, some have abandoned their clothes and now wear skins. |
|
| ਗੁਰਿ ਆਣੀ ਘਰ ਮਹਿ ਤਾ ਸਰਬ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੨॥ |
| gur aanee ghar mehi thaa sarab sukh paaeiaa ||2|| |
| the Guru brought my bride to my home, and I obtained total happiness. ||2|| |
|
| ਆਪਨੜੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਣਿਆ ਨਿਤ ਕੇਲ ਕਰੰਤੇ ॥੩॥ |
| aapanarrae prabh bhaaniaa nith kael karanthae ||3|| |
| Those who are pleasing to their God, celebrate in happiness. ||3|| |
|
| ਜਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਨਾਮ ਸੁਖੁ ਹਾਂ ॥ |
| jis jan naam sukh haan || |
| That humble being, who takes happiness in the Naam, the Name of the Lord |
|
| ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਾਚੁ ਸਭੇ ਸੁਖ ਨਾਲਾ ॥ |
| anthar saach sabhae sukh naalaa || |
| With the True Lord within the self, all happiness comes. |
|
| ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੂਖੁ ਊਪਜੈ ਦੁਖੁ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥ |
| guramukh sookh oopajai dhukh kadhae n hoee || |
| Happiness emanates from the Gurmukh; he never suffers pain. |
|
| ਸਾਂਤਿ ਸਹਜ ਸੁਖ ਕੇ ਸਭਿ ਹਾਟ ॥ |
| saanth sehaj sukh kae sabh haatt || |
| With intuitive peace and happiness, all the shops are filled. |
|
| ਜੋ ਸੁਖੁ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਪੇਖਤੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਮੁਖ ਤੇ ਕਹਣੁ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥੫॥ |
| jo sukh dharasan paekhathae piaarae mukh thae kehan n jaae ||5|| |
| That happiness which one receives by beholding Your Darshan, O Beloved, cannot be described in words. ||5|| |
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੁਣਿ ਭੀਨੇ ਰਾਮੈ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥੫॥ |
| naanak raam naam sun bheenae raamai naam samaaeiaa ||5|| |
| Nanak is drenched in happiness, hearing the Name of the Lord; he is merged in the Name of the Lord. ||5|| |
|
| ਮਾਣੁ ਮਹਤੁ ਕਲਿਆਣੁ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਸੰਗਿ ਸੁਰਜਨੁ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ॥ |
| maan mehath kaliaan har jas sang surajan so prabhoo || |
| She obtains honor, greatness and happiness, singing the Praise of the Lord. God, the Great Being, is always with her. |
|
| ਸੁਖ ਸਹਜ ਸਰਸੇ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਹਸੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਆਪਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰੀਆ ॥ |
| sukh sehaj sarasae har naam rehasae prabh aap kirapaa dhhaareeaa || |
| My peace and happiness increased; I rejoiced in the Naam, the Name of the Lord, and God Himself blessed me with His mercy. |
|
| ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਦਿਸੈ ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਸੁਣੀਐ ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਭਉ ਸੁਖ ਸਾਰੁ ॥ |
| kudharath dhisai kudharath suneeai kudharath bho sukh saar || |
| By His Power we see, by His Power we hear; by His Power we have fear, and the essence of happiness. |
|
| ਤੂੰ ਸਮਰਥੁ ਸਰਨਿ ਕੋ ਦਾਤਾ ਦੁਖ ਭੰਜਨੁ ਸੁਖ ਰਾਇ ॥ |
| thoon samarathh saran ko dhaathaa dhukh bhanjan sukh raae || |
| You are the Almighty Lord, the Giver of Sanctuary, the Destroyer of pain, the King of happiness. |
|
| ਜਿਸੁ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ਸਗਲੇ ਦੂਖ ਜਾਹਿ ॥੨॥ |
| jis simarath sukh hoe sagalae dhookh jaahi ||2|| |
| Remembering Him in meditation, happiness comes, and all sorrows and pains simply vanish. ||2|| |
|
| ਨਾਮੁ ਅਧਾਰੁ ਦੀਜੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਉ ਆਨਦ ਸੂਖ ਘਨੇਰੈ ॥੨॥੧੨॥ ਛਕੇ ੨ ॥ |
| naam adhhaar dheejai naanak ko aanadh sookh ghanaerai ||2||12|| |
| Bless Nanak with the Support of Your Name, that he may find great happiness and peace. ||2||12|| |

| ਅਪਨੇ ਹੀ ਸੁਖ ਸਿਉ ਸਭ ਲਾਗੇ ਕਿਆ ਦਾਰਾ ਕਿਆ ਮੀਤ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| apanae hee sukh sio sabh laagae kiaa dhaaraa kiaa meeth ||1|| rehaao || |
| Whether they are spouses or friends, all are concerned only with their own happiness. ||1||Pause|| |
|
| ਸਭਿ ਸੁਖ ਪਰਗਟਿਆ ਦੁਖ ਦੂਰਿ ਪਰਾਇਆ ਰਾਮ ॥ |
| sabh sukh paragattiaa dhukh dhoor paraaeiaa raam || |
| Total happiness was revealed, and pain was taken far away. |
