ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਸਗਲ ਮਹਿ ਆਪਿ ॥ |
aapae aap sagal mehi aap || |
He Himself is All-in-Himself. |

ਅਨਿਕ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਰਚਿ ਥਾਪਿ ਉਥਾਪਿ ॥ |
anik jugath rach thhaap outhhaap || |
In His many ways, He establishes and disestablishes. |
|
ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਨਾਹੀ ਕਿਛੁ ਖੰਡ ॥ |
abinaasee naahee kishh khandd || |
He is Imperishable; nothing can be broken. |
|
ਧਾਰਣ ਧਾਰਿ ਰਹਿਓ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੰਡ ॥ |
dhhaaran dhhaar rehiou brehamandd || |
He lends His Support to maintain the Universe. |
|
ਅਲਖ ਅਭੇਵ ਪੁਰਖ ਪਰਤਾਪ ॥ |
alakh abhaev purakh parathaap || |
Unfathomable and Inscrutable is the Glory of the Lord. |
|
ਆਪਿ ਜਪਾਏ ਤ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਾਪ ॥੬॥ |
aap japaaeae th naanak jaap ||6|| |
As He inspires us to meditate, O Nanak, so do we meditate. ||6|| |

ਜਿਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਜਾਤਾ ਸੁ ਸੋਭਾਵੰਤ ॥ |
jin prabh jaathaa s sobhaavanth || |
Those who know God are glorious. |
|
ਸਗਲ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ਉਧਰੈ ਤਿਨ ਮੰਤ ॥ |
sagal sansaar oudhharai thin manth || |
The whole world is redeemed by their teachings. |
|
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਸਗਲ ਉਧਾਰਨ ॥ |
prabh kae saevak sagal oudhhaaran || |
God's servants redeem all. |
|
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਦੂਖ ਬਿਸਾਰਨ ॥ |
prabh kae saevak dhookh bisaaran || |
God's servants cause sorrows to be forgotten. |
|
ਆਪੇ ਮੇਲਿ ਲਏ ਕਿਰਪਾਲ ॥ |
aapae mael leae kirapaal || |
The Merciful Lord unites them with Himself. |
|
ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਜਪਿ ਭਏ ਨਿਹਾਲ ॥ |
gur kaa sabadh jap bheae nihaal || |
Chanting the Word of the Guru's Shabad, they become ecstatic. |
|
ਉਨ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਸੋਈ ਲਾਗੈ ॥ |
oun kee saevaa soee laagai || |
He alone is committed to serve them, |
|
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਹਿ ਬਡਭਾਗੈ ॥ |
jis no kirapaa karehi baddabhaagai || |
upon whom God bestows His Mercy, by great good fortune. |
|
ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਬਿਸ੍ਰਾਮੁ ॥ |
naam japath paavehi bisraam || |
Those who chant the Naam find their place of rest. |
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਨ ਪੁਰਖ ਕਉ ਊਤਮ ਕਰਿ ਮਾਨੁ ॥੭॥ |
naanak thin purakh ko ootham kar maan ||7|| |
O Nanak, respect those persons as the most noble. ||7|| |

ਜੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਰੈ ਸੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੈ ਰੰਗਿ ॥ |
jo kishh karai s prabh kai rang || |
Whatever you do, do it for the Love of God. |
|
ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਬਸੈ ਹਰਿ ਸੰਗਿ ॥ |
sadhaa sadhaa basai har sang || |
Forever and ever, abide with the Lord. |
|
ਸਹਜ ਸੁਭਾਇ ਹੋਵੈ ਸੋ ਹੋਇ ॥ |
sehaj subhaae hovai so hoe || |
By its own natural course, whatever will be will be. |
|
ਕਰਣੈਹਾਰੁ ਪਛਾਣੈ ਸੋਇ ॥ |
karanaihaar pashhaanai soe || |
Acknowledge that Creator Lord; |
|
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਾ ਕੀਆ ਜਨ ਮੀਠ ਲਗਾਨਾ ॥ |
prabh kaa keeaa jan meeth lagaanaa || |
God's doings are sweet to His humble servant. |
|
ਜੈਸਾ ਸਾ ਤੈਸਾ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਾਨਾ ॥ |
jaisaa saa thaisaa dhrisattaanaa || |
As He is, so does He appear. |
|
ਜਿਸ ਤੇ ਉਪਜੇ ਤਿਸੁ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਏ ॥ |
jis thae oupajae this maahi samaaeae || |
From Him we came, and into Him we shall merge again. |
|
ਓਇ ਸੁਖ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਉਨਹੂ ਬਨਿ ਆਏ ॥ |
oue sukh nidhhaan ounehoo ban aaeae || |
He is the treasure of peace, and so does His servant become. |
|
ਆਪਸ ਕਉ ਆਪਿ ਦੀਨੋ ਮਾਨੁ ॥ |
aapas ko aap dheeno maan || |
Unto His own, He has given His honor. |
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜਨੁ ਏਕੋ ਜਾਨੁ ॥੮॥੧੪॥ |
naanak prabh jan eaeko jaan ||8||14|| |
O Nanak, know that God and His humble servant are one and the same. ||8||14|| |

ਸਰਬ ਕਲਾ ਭਰਪੂਰ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਾਨਨਹਾਰ ॥ |
sarab kalaa bharapoor prabh birathhaa jaananehaar || |
God is totally imbued with all powers; He is the Knower of our troubles. |

ਜਾ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਉਧਰੀਐ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸੁ ਬਲਿਹਾਰ ॥੧॥ |
jaa kai simaran oudhhareeai naanak this balihaar ||1|| |
Meditating in remembrance on Him, we are saved; Nanak is a sacrifice to Him. ||1|| |

The Lord of the World is the Mender of the broken. |

ਸਰਬ ਜੀਆ ਆਪੇ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲ ॥ |
sarab jeeaa aapae prathipaal || |
He Himself cherishes all beings. |
|
ਸਗਲ ਕੀ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ॥ |
sagal kee chinthaa jis man maahi || |
The cares of all are on His Mind; |
|
ਤਿਸ ਤੇ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਕੋਈ ਨਾਹਿ ॥ |
this thae birathhaa koee naahi || |
no one is turned away from Him. |
|
ਰੇ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਜਾਪਿ ॥ |
rae man maerae sadhaa har jaap || |
O my mind, meditate forever on the Lord. |
|
ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ॥ |
abinaasee prabh aapae aap || |
The Imperishable Lord God is Himself All-in-all. |
|
ਆਪਨ ਕੀਆ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥ |
aapan keeaa kashhoo n hoe || |
By one's own actions, nothing is accomplished, |
|
ਜੇ ਸਉ ਪ੍ਰਾਨੀ ਲੋਚੈ ਕੋਇ ॥ |
jae so praanee lochai koe || |
even though the mortal may wish it so, hundreds of times. |
|
ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਤੇਰੈ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਾਮ ॥ |
this bin naahee thaerai kishh kaam || |
Without Him, nothing is of any use to you. |
|
ਗਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਪਿ ਏਕ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ॥੧॥ |
gath naanak jap eaek har naam ||1|| |
Salvation, O Nanak, is attained by chanting the Name of the One Lord. ||1|| |
|
ਰੂਪਵੰਤੁ ਹੋਇ ਨਾਹੀ ਮੋਹੈ ॥ |
roopavanth hoe naahee mohai || |
One who is good-looking should not be vain; |
|
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਗਲ ਘਟ ਸੋਹੈ ॥ |
prabh kee joth sagal ghatt sohai || |
the Light of God is in all hearts. |
|
ਧਨਵੰਤਾ ਹੋਇ ਕਿਆ ਕੋ ਗਰਬੈ ॥ |
dhhanavanthaa hoe kiaa ko garabai || |
Why should anyone be proud of being rich? |
|
ਜਾ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਦੀਆ ਦਰਬੈ ॥ |
jaa sabh kishh this kaa dheeaa dharabai || |
All riches are His gifts. |
|
ਅਤਿ ਸੂਰਾ ਜੇ ਕੋਊ ਕਹਾਵੈ ॥ |
ath sooraa jae kooo kehaavai || |
One may call himself a great hero, |
|
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਕਲਾ ਬਿਨਾ ਕਹ ਧਾਵੈ ॥ |
prabh kee kalaa binaa keh dhhaavai || |
but without God's Power, what can anyone do? |
|
ਜੇ ਕੋ ਹੋਇ ਬਹੈ ਦਾਤਾਰੁ ॥ |
jae ko hoe behai dhaathaar || |
One who brags about giving to charities |
|
ਤਿਸੁ ਦੇਨਹਾਰੁ ਜਾਨੈ ਗਾਵਾਰੁ ॥ |
this dhaenehaar jaanai gaavaar || |
the Great Giver shall judge him to be a fool. |
|
ਜਿਸੁ ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਤੂਟੈ ਹਉ ਰੋਗੁ ॥ |
jis gur prasaadh thoottai ho rog || |
One who, by Guru's Grace, is cured of the disease of ego |
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਸਦਾ ਅਰੋਗੁ ॥੨॥ |
naanak so jan sadhaa arog ||2|| |
- O Nanak, that person is forever healthy. ||2|| |
|
ਜਿਉ ਮੰਦਰ ਕਉ ਥਾਮੈ ਥੰਮਨੁ ॥ |
jio mandhar ko thhaamai thhanman || |
As a palace is supported by its pillars, |
|
ਤਿਉ ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਮਨਹਿ ਅਸਥੰਮਨੁ ॥ |
thio gur kaa sabadh manehi asathhanman || |
so does the Guru's Word support the mind. |
|
ਜਿਉ ਪਾਖਾਣੁ ਨਾਵ ਚੜਿ ਤਰੈ ॥ |
jio paakhaan naav charr tharai || |
As a stone placed in a boat can cross over the river, |
|
ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਗੁਰ ਚਰਣ ਲਗਤੁ ਨਿਸਤਰੈ ॥ |
praanee gur charan lagath nisatharai || |
so is the mortal saved, grasping hold of the Guru's Feet. |
|
ਜਿਉ ਅੰਧਕਾਰ ਦੀਪਕ ਪਰਗਾਸੁ ॥ |
jio andhhakaar dheepak paragaas || |
As the darkness is illuminated by the lamp, |
|
ਗੁਰ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਦੇਖਿ ਮਨਿ ਹੋਇ ਬਿਗਾਸੁ ॥ |
gur dharasan dhaekh man hoe bigaas || |
so does the mind blossom forth, beholding the Blessed Vision of the Guru's Darshan. |

ਜਿਉ ਮਹਾ ਉਦਿਆਨ ਮਹਿ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥ਤਿਉ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਜੋਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਾਵੈ ॥ |
jio mehaa oudhiaan mehi maarag paavai || thio saadhhoo sang mil joth pragattaavai || |
The path is found through the great wilderness by joining the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, and one's light shines forth. |

ਤਿਨ ਸੰਤਨ ਕੀ ਬਾਛਉ ਧੂਰਿ ॥ |
thin santhan kee baashho dhhoor || |
I seek the dust of the feet of those Saints; |
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀ ਹਰਿ ਲੋਚਾ ਪੂਰਿ ॥੩॥ |
naanak kee har lochaa poor ||3|| |
O Lord, fulfill Nanak's longing! ||3|| |
|
ਮਨ ਮੂਰਖ ਕਾਹੇ ਬਿਲਲਾਈਐ ॥ |
man moorakh kaahae bilalaaeeai || |
O foolish mind, why do you cry and bewail? |
