ਅਪਨੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਆਪਿ ਕਰੇਇ ॥ |
apanee kirapaa jis aap karaee || |
He Himself grants His Grace; |

ਨਾਨਕ ਸੋ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਮਤਿ ਲੇਇ ॥੨॥ |
naanak so saevak gur kee math laee ||2|| |
O Nanak, that selfless servant lives the Guru's Teachings. ||2|| |
|
ਬੀਸ ਬਿਸਵੇ ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨੈ ॥ |
bees bisavae gur kaa man maanai || |
One who obeys the Guru's Teachings one hundred per cent |
|
ਸੋ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਪਰਮੇਸੁਰ ਕੀ ਗਤਿ ਜਾਨੈ ॥ |
so saevak paramaesur kee gath jaanai || |
that selfless servant comes to know the state of the Transcendent Lord. |
|
ਸੋ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਜਿਸੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਉ ॥ |
so sathigur jis ridhai har naao || |
The True Guru's Heart is filled with the Name of the Lord. |
|
ਅਨਿਕ ਬਾਰ ਗੁਰ ਕਉ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਉ ॥ |
anik baar gur ko bal jaao || |
So many times, I am a sacrifice to the Guru. |
|
ਸਰਬ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਜੀਅ ਕਾ ਦਾਤਾ ॥ |
sarab nidhhaan jeea kaa dhaathaa || |
He is the treasure of everything, the Giver of life. |
|
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤਾ ॥ |
aath pehar paarabreham rang raathaa || |
Twenty-four hours a day, He is imbued with the Love of the Supreme Lord God. |
|
ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਮਹਿ ਜਨੁ ਜਨ ਮਹਿ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ॥ |
breham mehi jan jan mehi paarabreham || |
The servant is in God, and God is in the servant. |
|
ਏਕਹਿ ਆਪਿ ਨਹੀ ਕਛੁ ਭਰਮੁ ॥ |
eaekehi aap nehee kashh bharam || |
He Himself is One - there is no doubt about this. |
|
ਸਹਸ ਸਿਆਨਪ ਲਇਆ ਨ ਜਾਈਐ ॥ |
sehas siaanap laeiaa n jaaeeai || |
By thousands of clever tricks, He is not found. |
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਐਸਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਬਡਭਾਗੀ ਪਾਈਐ ॥੩॥ |
naanak aisaa gur baddabhaagee paaeeai ||3|| |
O Nanak, such a Guru is obtained by the greatest good fortune. ||3|| |

ਸਫਲ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਪੇਖਤ ਪੁਨੀਤ ॥ |
safal dharasan paekhath puneeth || |
Blessed is His Darshan; receiving it, one is purified. |
|
ਪਰਸਤ ਚਰਨ ਗਤਿ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਰੀਤਿ ॥ |
parasath charan gath niramal reeth || |
Touching His Feet, one's conduct and lifestyle become pure. |
|
ਭੇਟਤ ਸੰਗਿ ਰਾਮ ਗੁਨ ਰਵੇ ॥ |
bhaettath sang raam gun ravae || |
Abiding in His Company, one chants the Lord's Praise, |
|
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਕੀ ਦਰਗਹ ਗਵੇ ॥ |
paarabreham kee dharageh gavae || |
and reaches the Court of the Supreme Lord God. |
|
ਸੁਨਿ ਕਰਿ ਬਚਨ ਕਰਨ ਆਘਾਨੇ ॥ |
sun kar bachan karan aaghaanae || |
Listening to His Teachings, one's ears are satisfied. |
|
ਮਨਿ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਆਤਮ ਪਤੀਆਨੇ ॥ |
man santhokh aatham patheeaanae || |
The mind is contented, and the soul is fulfilled. |
|
ਪੂਰਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਅਖ੍ਯ੍ਯਓ ਜਾ ਕਾ ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ॥ |
pooraa gur akhyou jaa kaa manthr || |
The Guru is perfect; His Teachings are everlasting. |
|
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਪੇਖੈ ਹੋਇ ਸੰਤ ॥ |
anmrith dhrisatt paekhai hoe santh || |
Beholding His Ambrosial Glance, one becomes saintly. |
|
ਗੁਣ ਬਿਅੰਤ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਇ ॥ |
gun bianth keemath nehee paae || |
Endless are His virtuous qualities; His worth cannot be appraised. |
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਲਏ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥੪॥ |
naanak jis bhaavai this leae milaae ||4|| |
O Nanak, one who pleases Him is united with Him. ||4|| |
|
ਜਿਹਬਾ ਏਕ ਉਸਤਤਿ ਅਨੇਕ ॥ |
jihabaa eaek ousathath anaek || |
The tongue is one, but His Praises are many. |
|
ਸਤਿ ਪੁਰਖ ਪੂਰਨ ਬਿਬੇਕ ॥ਕਾਹੂ ਬੋਲ ਨ ਪਹੁਚਤ ਪ੍ਰਾਨੀ ॥ |
sath purakh pooran bibaek || kaahoo bol n pahuchath praanee || |
The True Lord, of perfect perfection - no speech can take the mortal to Him. |

ਅਗਮ ਅਗੋਚਰ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਨਿਰਬਾਨੀ ॥ |
agam agochar prabh nirabaanee || |
God is Inaccessible, Incomprehensible, balanced in the state of Nirvaanaa. |
|
ਨਿਰਾਹਾਰ ਨਿਰਵੈਰ ਸੁਖਦਾਈ ॥ |
niraahaar niravair sukhadhaaee || |
He is not sustained by food; He has no hatred or vengeance; He is the Giver of peace. |
|
ਤਾ ਕੀ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਕਿਨੈ ਨ ਪਾਈ ॥ |
thaa kee keemath kinai n paaee || |
No one can estimate His worth. |
|
ਅਨਿਕ ਭਗਤ ਬੰਦਨ ਨਿਤ ਕਰਹਿ ॥ |
anik bhagath bandhan nith karehi || |
Countless devotees continually bow in reverence to Him. |
|
ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਸਿਮਰਹਿ ॥ |
charan kamal hiradhai simarehi || |
In their hearts, they meditate on His Lotus Feet. |
|
ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਅਪਨੇ ॥ |
sadh balihaaree sathigur apanae || |
Nanak is forever a sacrifice to the True Guru; |
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਸੁ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਐਸਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਜਪਨੇ ॥੫॥ |
naanak jis prasaadh aisaa prabh japanae ||5|| |
by His Grace, he meditates on God. ||5|| |
|
ਇਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਪਾਵੈ ਜਨੁ ਕੋਇ ॥ |
eihu har ras paavai jan koe || |
Only a few obtain this ambrosial essence of the Lord's Name. |
|
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਵੈ ਅਮਰੁ ਸੋ ਹੋਇ ॥ |
anmrith peevai amar so hoe || |
Drinking in this Nectar, one becomes immortal. |
|
ਉਸੁ ਪੁਰਖ ਕਾ ਨਾਹੀ ਕਦੇ ਬਿਨਾਸ ॥ਜਾ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਪ੍ਰਗਟੇ ਗੁਨਤਾਸ ॥ |
ous purakh kaa naahee kadhae binaas || jaa kai man pragattae gunathaas || |
That person whose mind is illuminated by the treasure of excellence, never dies. |

ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਲੇਇ ॥ |
aath pehar har kaa naam laee || |
Twenty-four hours a day, he takes the Name of the Lord. |
|
ਸਚੁ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਸੇਵਕ ਕਉ ਦੇਇ ॥ |
sach oupadhaes saevak ko dhaee || |
The Lord gives true instruction to His servant. |
|
ਮੋਹ ਮਾਇਆ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਨ ਲੇਪੁ ॥ |
moh maaeiaa kai sang n laep || |
He is not polluted by emotional attachment to Maya. |
|
ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਰਾਖੈ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਏਕੁ ॥ |
man mehi raakhai har har eaek || |
In his mind, he cherishes the One Lord, Har, Har. |
|
ਅੰਧਕਾਰ ਦੀਪਕ ਪਰਗਾਸੇ ॥ |
andhhakaar dheepak paragaasae || |
In the pitch darkness, a lamp shines forth. |
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਭਰਮ ਮੋਹ ਦੁਖ ਤਹ ਤੇ ਨਾਸੇ ॥੬॥ |
naanak bharam moh dhukh theh thae naasae ||6|| |
O Nanak, doubt, emotional attachment and pain are erased. ||6|| |
|
ਤਪਤਿ ਮਾਹਿ ਠਾਢਿ ਵਰਤਾਈ ॥ |
thapath maahi thaadt varathaaee || |
In the burning heat, a soothing coolness prevails. |
|
ਅਨਦੁ ਭਇਆ ਦੁਖ ਨਾਠੇ ਭਾਈ ॥ |
anadh bhaeiaa dhukh naathae bhaaee || |
Happiness ensues and pain departs, O Siblings of Destiny. |
|
ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਕੇ ਮਿਟੇ ਅੰਦੇਸੇ ॥ |
janam maran kae mittae andhaesae || |
The fear of birth and death is dispelled, |
|
ਸਾਧੂ ਕੇ ਪੂਰਨ ਉਪਦੇਸੇ ॥ |
saadhhoo kae pooran oupadhaesae || |
by the perfect Teachings of the Holy Saint. |
|
ਭਉ ਚੂਕਾ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਹੋਇ ਬਸੇ ॥ |
bho chookaa nirabho hoe basae || |
Fear is lifted, and one abides in fearlessness. |
|
ਸਗਲ ਬਿਆਧਿ ਮਨ ਤੇ ਖੈ ਨਸੇ ॥ |
sagal biaadhh man thae khai nasae || |
All evils are dispelled from the mind. |
|
ਜਿਸ ਕਾ ਸਾ ਤਿਨਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰੀ ॥ |
jis kaa saa thin kirapaa dhhaaree || |
He takes us into His favor as His own. |
|
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਜਪਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੁਰਾਰੀ ॥ |
saadhhasang jap naam muraaree || |
In the Company of the Holy, chant the Naam, the Name of the Lord. |
|
ਥਿਤਿ ਪਾਈ ਚੂਕੇ ਭ੍ਰਮ ਗਵਨ ॥ |
thhith paaee chookae bhram gavan || |
Stability is attained; doubt and wandering cease, |
|
ਸੁਨਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਸ੍ਰਵਨ ॥੭॥ |
sun naanak har har jas sravan ||7|| |
O Nanak, listening with one's ears to the Praises of the Lord, Har, Har. ||7|| |

ਨਿਰਗੁਨੁ ਆਪਿ ਸਰਗੁਨੁ ਭੀ ਓਹੀ ॥ |
niragun aap saragun bhee ouhee || |
He Himself is absolute and unrelated; He Himself is also involved and related. |
|
ਕਲਾ ਧਾਰਿ ਜਿਨਿ ਸਗਲੀ ਮੋਹੀ ॥ |
kalaa dhhaar jin sagalee mohee || |
Manifesting His power, He fascinates the entire world. |
|
ਅਪਨੇ ਚਰਿਤ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਆਪਿ ਬਨਾਏ ॥ |
apanae charith prabh aap banaaeae || |
God Himself sets His play in motion. |
|
ਅਪੁਨੀ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਆਪੇ ਪਾਏ ॥ |
apunee keemath aapae paaeae || |
Only He Himself can estimate His worth. |
|
ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋਇ ॥ |
har bin dhoojaa naahee koe || |
There is none, other than the Lord. |
|
ਸਰਬ ਨਿਰੰਤਰਿ ਏਕੋ ਸੋਇ ॥ |
sarab niranthar eaeko soe || |
Permeating all, He is the One. |
|
ਓਤਿ ਪੋਤਿ ਰਵਿਆ ਰੂਪ ਰੰਗ ॥ |
outh poth raviaa roop rang || |
Through and through, He pervades in form and color. |
|
ਭਏ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸ ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਸੰਗ ॥ |
bheae pragaas saadhh kai sang || |
He is revealed in the Company of the Holy. |
