| ਸਬਦਿ ਮਰੈ ਤਾ ਉਧਰੈ ਪਾਏ ਮੋਖ ਦੁਆਰੁ ॥ |
| sabadh marai thaa oudhharai paaeae mokh dhuaar || |
| If one dies through the Shabad, then salvation is obtained, and one finds the Door of Liberation. |

| ਨਾਮਾ ਛੀਬਾ ਕਬੀਰੁ ਜ+ਲਾਹਾ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਗਤਿ ਪਾਈ ॥ |
| naamaa shheebaa kabeer juolaahaa poorae gur thae gath paaee || |
| Naam Dayv the printer, and Kabeer the weaver, obtained salvation through the Perfect Guru. |

| ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਤਾ ਗਤਿ ਮਿਤਿ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਏ ॥ |
| sathigur saevehi thaa gath mith paavehi har jeeo mann vasaaeae || |
| If they serve the True Guru, they find the state of salvation; they enshrine the Dear Lord within their minds. |

| ਜਾ ਨਾਉ ਚੇਤੈ ਤਾ ਗਤਿ ਪਾਏ ਜਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥੬॥ |
| jaa naao chaethai thaa gath paaeae jaa sathigur mael milaaeae ||6|| |
| But when they remember the Name, then they attain the state of salvation, when the True Guru unites them in Union. ||6|| |

| ਸੁਖ ਸੇਵਾ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਰਖਿਐ ਆਪਣੀ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਨਿਸਤਾਰਿ ਜੀਉ ॥੧੨॥ |
| sukh saevaa andhar rakhiai aapanee nadhar karehi nisathaar jeeo ||12|| |
| Serving You, peace is obtained; granting Your Mercy, You bestow salvation. ||12|| |

| ਮੈ ਧਰ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਧਾਰੁ ਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੈ ਤੇ ਗਤਿ ਮਤਿ ॥ |
| mai dhhar naam adhhaar hai har naamai thae gath math || |
| The Naam is my Support and Sustenance. From the Lord's Name, I obtain salvation and understanding. |

| ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਜਿਨਿ ਬੁਝਿਆ ਤਿਨਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਮੋਖ ਦੁਆਰੁ ॥ |
| gur parasaadhee jin bujhiaa thin paaeiaa mokh dhuaar || |
| By Guru's Grace, they understand Him, and they find the gate of salvation. |

| ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਗੋਬਿੰਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਵਹੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਗਾਤੀ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥ |
| dheen dhaeiaal gopaal gobindhaa har dhhiaavahu guramukh gaathee jeeo ||1|| |
| Merciful to the meek, Sustainer of the World, Lord of the Universe-meditating on the Lord, the Gurmukhs find salvation. ||1|| |

| ਅਨਦ ਮੰਗਲ ਕਲਿਆਣ ਨਿਧਾਨਾ ॥ਸੂਖ ਸਹਜ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਖਾਨਾ ॥ |
| anadh mangal kaliaan nidhhaanaa || sookh sehaj har naam vakhaanaa || |
| I chant the Name of the Lord, the Treasure of bliss, joy, salvation, intuitive peace and poise. |

| ਜਾ ਕੀ ਸਰਣਿ ਪਇਆ ਗਤਿ ਪਾਈਐ ॥ |

| Seeking His Sanctuary, salvation is obtained. |

| Through the Perfect Guru, the gate of salvation is found. |

| The Gurmukh finds the gate of salvation. |

| ਫਿਰਿ ਓਇ ਕਿਥਹੁ ਪਾਇਨਿ ਮੋਖ ਦੁਆਰਾ ॥ |
| fir oue kithhahu paaein mokh dhuaaraa || |
| how will they find the gate of salvation? |
|
| ਸੇ ਜਨ ਸਚੇ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਮੋਖ ਦੁਆਰੁ ॥ |
| sae jan sachae paavehi mokh dhuaar || |
| The true ones find the gate of salvation. |
|
| ਗਲੀ ਭਿਸਤਿ ਨ ਜਾਈਐ ਛੁਟੈ ਸਚੁ ਕਮਾਇ ॥ |
| galee bhisath n jaaeeai shhuttai sach kamaae || |
| By mere talk, people do not earn passage to Heaven. Salvation comes only from the practice of Truth. |

| ਇਸੁ ਜੁਗ ਮਹਿ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਿ ਨਿਸਤਾਰਾ ॥ |

| In this age, salvation comes only from the Lord's Name. |

| ਅਨਿਕ ਜਤਨ ਨਹੀ ਹੋਤ ਛੁਟਾਰਾ ॥ |

| By all sorts of efforts, people do not find salvation. |

| ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਗਾਈਐ ॥ |

| By all sorts of efforts, people do not find salvation. |

| ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਹਮ ਗਤਿ ਪਤਿ ਪਾਈ ॥ |
| sathigur thae ham gath path paaee || |
| From the True Guru, I have obtained salvation and honor. |
|
| ਜੋ ਇਸੁ ਮਾਰੇ ਤਿਸੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਗਤੀ ॥੩॥ |
| jo eis maarae this hovai gathee ||3|| |
| One who kills this attains salvation. ||3|| |
|
| ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਗਤਿ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਪਾਵੈ ਹਠਿ ਨਿਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਬੇਬਾਣੈ ॥ |
| naam binaa gath koe n paavai hath nigrehi baebaanai || |
| Without the Naam, no one attains salvation. Stubborn self-discipline and living in the wilderness are of no use at all. |

| ਡੂਬਿ ਮੁਏ ਬਿਨੁ ਪਾਣੀ ਗਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਣੀ ਹਉਮੈ ਧਾਤੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੇ ॥ |
| ddoob mueae bin paanee gath nehee jaanee houmai dhhaath sansaarae || |
| They are drowned to death without water - they do not know the path of salvation, and they wander around the world in egotism. |

| ਧਿਆਇ ਮਨਾ ਮੁਰਾਰਿ ਮੁਕੰਦੇ ਕਟੀਐ ਕਾਲ ਦੁਖ ਫਾਧੋ ॥ |
| dhhiaae manaa muraar mukandhae katteeai kaal dhukh faadhho || |
| Meditate, O my mind, on the Lord, the Destroyer of ego, the Giver of salvation, who cuts away the noose of agonizing death. |

| ਅਹੰਬੁਧਿ ਬੰਧਨ ਪਰੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮ ਛੁਟਾਰ ॥੧॥ |
| ahanbudhh bandhhan parae naanak naam shhuttaar ||1|| |
| He is bound by his egotistical intellect; O Nanak, salvation comes only through the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||1|| |

| ਗਤਿ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਮਤਿ ਹੋਇ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸ ਮਹਲੀ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਠਾਉ ॥ |

| He shall obtain salvation, and his intellect shall be enlightened; he will find his place in the Mansion of the Lord's Presence. |

| ਯਾਰ ਮੀਤ ਸੁਨਿ ਸਾਜਨਹੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਛੂਟਨੁ ਨਾਹਿ ॥ |
| yaar meeth sun saajanahu bin har shhoottan naahi || |
| Listen, my dear friends and companions: without the Lord, there is no salvation. |

| ਯਾ ਉਬਰਨ ਧਾਰੈ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਊ ॥ |
| yaa oubaran dhhaarai sabh kooo || |
| Everyone has this idea of salvation, |
|
| ਉਆਹਿ ਜਪੇ ਬਿਨੁ ਉਬਰ ਨ ਹੋਊ ॥ |
| ouaahi japae bin oubar n hooo || |
| but without meditation, there can be no salvation. |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਗਤਿ ਪਾਹਿ ॥੨॥ |
| naanak guramukh naam japath gath paahi ||2|| |
| O Nanak, as Gurmukh, chant the Naam, and obtain salvation. ||2|| |

| ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਗਤਿ ਭਈ ਹਮਾਰੀ ॥ |
| saadhhasang gath bhee hamaaree || |
| In the Company of the Holy, we obtain the state of salvation. |

| ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਵੈ ਮਾਨੁਖ ਗਤਿ ਪਾਵੈ ॥ |
| prabh bhaavai maanukh gath paavai || |
| If it pleases God, one attains salvation. |

| ਗਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਪਿ ਏਕ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ॥੧॥ |

| Salvation, O Nanak, is attained by chanting the Name of the One Lord. ||1|| |

| in every age, he attains salvation. |

| ਤਾ ਕੀ ਆਸ ਕਲਿਆਣ ਸੁਖ ਜਾ ਤੇ ਸਭੁ ਕਛੁ ਹੋਇ ॥ |
| thaa kee aas kaliaan sukh jaa thae sabh kashh hoe || |
| Place your hopes in Him, for salvation and peace; all things come from Him. |

| ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨੁ ਕਿਨਿ ਗਤਿ ਪਾਈ ॥੪॥੪॥ |
| raam naam bin kin gath paaee ||4||4|| |
| without the Lord's Name, who has ever found salvation? ||4||4|| |

| ਤੁਹੀ ਦਰੀਆ ਤੁਹੀ ਕਰੀਆ ਤੁਝੈ ਤੇ ਨਿਸਤਾਰ ॥੧॥ |

| You are the river, and You are the boatman; salvation comes from You. ||1|| |

| ਨਿੰਦਾ ਹਮਰਾ ਕਰੈ ਉਧਾਰੁ ॥ |

| Slander is my salvation. |

| From the Perfect Guru, the way to salvation is obtained. |

| ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਦਰਸਨਿ ਮੋਖ ਦੁਆਰੁ ॥ |
| gur kai dharasan mokh dhuaar || |
| Through the Guru's system, the Door of Salvation is obtained. |
|
| ਨਿਗੁਰੇ ਕਉ ਗਤਿ ਕਾਈ ਨਾਹੀ ॥ |
| nigurae ko gath kaaee naahee || |
| There is no salvation for those who have no Guru. |
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਗਤਿ ਪਾਏ ॥੪॥੩॥੪੨॥ |

| O Nanak, imbued with the Naam, the Name of the Lord, salvation is attained. ||4||3||42|| |

| har bhagathee raathae mokh dhuaar ||8||2||24|| |
| Imbued with devotion to the Lord, the gate of salvation is found. ||8||2||24|| |
