| ਸਚੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸਾਚਉ ਚਵੈ ਛੂਟੈ ਸੋਗ ਵਿਜੋਗੁ ॥ |
| sach bhaavai saacho chavai shhoottai sog vijog || |
| One who loves the Truth and speaks the Truth, escapes from the sorrow of separation. |

| ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਕਿਛੁ ਸਾਦਿ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਸਰਿਐ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੬॥ |
| naam binaa kishh saadh n laagai har bisariai dhukh paaee hae ||6|| |
| Without the Naam, the Name of the Lord, nothing tastes sweet; forgetting the Lord, they suffer in sorrow. ||6|| |

| ਸਗਲੇ ਦੂਖ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਕਰਿ ਪੀਵੈ ਬਾਹੁੜਿ ਦੂਖੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਦਾ ॥੬॥ |
| sagalae dhookh anmrith kar peevai baahurr dhookh n paaeidhaa ||6|| |
| Such a being drinks in all his pains like Ambrosial Nectar; he never suffers sorrow again. ||6|| |

| ਮਥੇ ਕਾਲੇ ਮਹਲੁ ਨ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਦੁਖ ਹੀ ਵਿਚਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਦਾ ॥੫॥ |
| mathhae kaalae mehal n paavehi dhukh hee vich dhukh paaeidhaa ||5|| |
| Their faces are blackened, and they do not obtain the Mansion of the Lord's Presence. They suffer in sorrow and agony. ||5|| |

| ਓਥੈ ਸੋਗੁ ਵਿਜੋਗੁ ਨ ਵਿਆਪੈ ਸਹਜੇ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥੧੦॥ |
| outhhai sog vijog n viaapai sehajae sehaj samaaeiaa ||10|| |
| There, one is not afflicted with sorrow or separation; merge into the Celestial Lord with intuitive ease. ||10|| |

| ਕਲਿ ਕਲੇਸ ਮਿਟਾਏ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਦੇਵੈ ਮਾਨਾਂ ਹੇ ॥੪॥ |
| kal kalaes mittaaeae sathigur har dharageh dhaevai maanaan hae ||4|| |
| The True Guru eradicates sorrow and suffering, and bestows honor in the Court of the Lord. ||4|| |
|
| ਹਰਖ ਸੋਗ ਕਾ ਨਗਰੁ ਇਹੁ ਕੀਆ ॥ |
| harakh sog kaa nagar eihu keeaa || |
| This body has been made the village of joy and sorrow. |
|
| ਮੋਹੁ ਸੋਗੁ ਸਭੁ ਭਰਮੁ ਮਿਟਾਈ ॥ |
| mohu sog sabh bharam mittaaee || |
| He shall eradicate all emotional attachment, sorrow and doubt. |
|
| ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਜਾ ਕੈ ॥ਦੂਖੁ ਦਰਦੁ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਤਾ ਕਾ ਭਾਗੈ ॥ |
| gur kaa sabadh vasai man jaa kai || dhookh dharadh bhram thaa kaa bhaagai || |
| Pain, sorrow and doubt run away from that one, within whose mind the Word of the Guru's Shabad abides. |

| ਰੋਗ ਸੋਗ ਦੂਖ ਤਿਸੁ ਨਾਹੀ ॥ |

| Disease, sorrow and pain do not affect him; |

| ਸਚੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਆਧਾਰੁ ਸੋਗਿ ਨ ਮੋਹਿ ਜਰਿ ॥ |

| The True Name shall be your Support, and you shall not burn in sorrow and attachment. |

| ਜਿਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਣਾ ਮੰਨਿਆ ਤਿਸੁ ਸੋਗੁ ਨ ਸੰਤਾਪੈ ॥ |
| jin har bhaanaa manniaa this sog n santhaapai || |
| Whoever submits to the Lord's Will does not suffer in sorrow. |

| ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਜਾ ਤੂ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਿਤ੍ਰੁ ਹੈ ਤਾ ਕਿਆ ਮੈ ਕਾੜਾ ॥ |
| har jeeo jaa thoo maeraa mithra hai thaa kiaa mai kaarraa || |
| O Dear Lord, when You are my friend, what sorrow can afflict me? |

| ਤੂ ਸੁਣਿ ਕਿਰਤ ਕਰੰਮਾ ਪੁਰਬਿ ਕਮਾਇਆ ॥ਸਿਰਿ ਸਿਰਿ ਸੁਖ ਸਹੰਮਾ ਦੇਹਿ ਸੁ ਤੂ ਭਲਾ ॥ |
| thoo sun kirath karanmaa purab kamaaeiaa || sir sir sukh sehanmaa dhaehi s thoo bhalaa || |
| Listen: according to the karma of their past actions, each and every person experiences happiness or sorrow; whatever You give, Lord, is good. |

| ਪਿਰੁ ਘਰਿ ਨਹੀ ਆਵੈ ਧਨ ਕਿਉ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵੈ ਬਿਰਹਿ ਬਿਰੋਧ ਤਨੁ ਛੀਜੈ ॥ |
| pir ghar nehee aavai dhhan kio sukh paavai birehi birodhh than shheejai || |
| If her Husband Lord does not return home, how can the soul-bride find peace? Her body is wasting away with the sorrow of separation. |
|
| ਪਿਰੁ ਘਰਿ ਨਹੀ ਆਵੈ ਮਰੀਐ ਹਾਵੈ ਦਾਮਨਿ ਚਮਕਿ ਡਰਾਏ ॥ |
| pir ghar nehee aavai mareeai haavai dhaaman chamak ddaraaeae || |
| My Beloved has not come home, and I am dying of the sorrow of separation. The lightning flashes, and I am scared. |

| ਹਉਮੈ ਗੁਰਿ ਖੋਈ ਪਰਗਟੁ ਹੋਈ ਚੂਕੇ ਸੋਗ ਸੰਤਾਪੈ ॥ |
| houmai gur khoee paragatt hoee chookae sog santhaapai || |
| The Guru has rid me of egotism; my sorrow and suffering are dispelled. |

| ਸਗਲੇ ਦੂਖ ਮਿਟਹਿ ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਖਾਈ ॥੪॥੫॥੬॥ |
| sagalae dhookh mittehi gur saevaa naanak naam sakhaaee ||4||5||6|| |
| All sorrows are erased, by serving the Guru; O Nanak, the Naam is our only Friend and Companion. ||4||5||6|| |

| ਜੋ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਦਾ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਤਿਨ ਮਨਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥੧॥ |

| Those who remain forever in Your Sanctuary, O Lord - their minds are never touched by sorrow. ||1|| |

| ਮਿਟਿਓ ਦੁਖੁ ਅਰੁ ਸਗਲ ਸੰਤਾਪ ॥ |

| All my pains and sorrows have been eradicated. |

| ਜੋ ਲਪਟਾਨੋ ਤਿਸੁ ਦੂਖ ਸੰਤਾਪ ॥ |

| Whoever clings to it suffers pain and sorrow. |
|
| ਦੁਖੀਏ ਕਾ ਮਿਟਾਵਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸੋਗੁ ॥ |
| dhukheeeae kaa mittaavahu prabh sog || |
| God takes away the sorrows of the suffering. |

| ਤਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਹੋਇ ਨ ਦੂਖੁ ਸੰਤਾਪੁ ॥ |
| this jan hoe n dhookh santhaap || |
| That person whom the Lord protects, does not suffer pain and sorrow. |
|
| ਦੂਖੁ ਦਰਦੁ ਨਹ ਬਿਆਪੈ ਰੋਗੁ ॥ |
| dhookh dharadh neh biaapai rog || |
| No pain, sorrow or disease afflicts them. |

| ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਬਦਿ ਪਛਾਣੀ ਦੁਖ ਕਾਟੈ ਹਉ ਮਾਰਾ ॥੧॥ |
| anmrith baanee sabadh pashhaanee dhukh kaattai ho maaraa ||1|| |
| The Ambrosial Word of the Guru's Bani is realized through the Word of the Shabad. Sorrow is dispelled, and egotism is eliminated. ||1|| |

| ਅਚਿੰਤ ਹਮਾਰੈ ਲਥੇ ਵਿਸੂਰੇ ॥ |

| Spontaneously, I am rid of sorrow. |

| ਸਾਚੁ ਸਹਜੁ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਹੋਵੈ ਸੋਗੁ ॥ |

| He dwells in intuitive peace, and never suffers in sorrow. |

| ਛੂਟੈ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਸਾਰਾ ॥ |

| Through the Lord's Name, all sorrows are eradicated. |

| ਹਮ ਡੁਬਦੇ ਪਾਥਰ ਕਾਢਿ ਲੇਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲ ਦੁਖ ਭੰਞੁ ॥੨॥ |
| ham ddubadhae paathhar kaadt laehu prabh thumh dheen dhaeiaal dhukh bhannj ||2|| |
| I am a heavy stone, sinking down - please lift me up and pull me out! O God, Merciful to the meek, You are the Destroyer of sorrow. ||2|| |

| Become His trustee, and you shall never again suffer sorrow. ||1|| |

| Meditating in remembrance on Him, I do not suffer in sorrow. ||1|| |

| God Himself has dispelled my sorrow and suffering. |

| ਖੀਲੈ ਬਿਗਸੈ ਤੇਤੋ ਸੋਗ ॥ |

| The more she plays and enjoys, the more she suffers in sorrow. |

| ਸਭਿ ਦੂਖ ਸਖਾਈ ਗੁਣਹ ਬੀਨ ॥੩॥ |
| sabh dhookh sakhaaee guneh been ||3|| |
| That person who lacks virtue - all of his pains and sorrows are his only companions. ||3|| |

| ਹਰਖ ਸੋਗ ਤੇ ਰਹਹਿ ਨਿਰਾਸਾ ॥ |

| They remain free of any desire for happiness or sorrow; |

| ਰੋਗ ਸੋਗ ਸਭਿ ਮਿਟਿ ਗਏ ਨਿਤ ਨਵਾ ਨਿਰੋਆ ॥ |

| All sorrows and sicknesses are eradicated, and you become ever-fresh and rejuvenated. |

| ਰੋਗ ਸੋਗ ਤੇਰੇ ਮਿਟਹਿ ਸਗਲ ਅਘ ਨਿਮਖ ਹੀਐ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |

| All your disease, sorrow and sin will be erased, if you meditate on the Lord's Name, even for an instant. ||1||Pause|| |

| The other deals and trades which I did, brought only sorrow and suffering. |

| ਅਬ ਮੋਰੋ ਸਹਸਾ ਦੂਖੁ ਗਇਆ ॥ |
| ab moro sehasaa dhookh gaeiaa || |
| Now I am rid of my skepticism and sorrow. |

| ਅਪਨੇ ਪਹਿ ਦੂਖ ਅਪਨੇ ਪਹਿ ਸੂਖਾ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਹੀ ਪਹਿ ਬਿਰਥਾ ॥ |

| He shares his sorrows, his joys and his condition only with his own. |

| ਗੁਰ ਉਪਦੇਸਿ ਸਾਧ ਕੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਬਿਨਸਿਓ ਸਗਲ ਸੰਤਾਪੁ ॥ |
| gur oupadhaes saadhh kee sangath binasiou sagal santhaap || |
| Through the Guru's Instruction, and the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, all sorrow and suffering is taken away. |

| ਮਿਟਹਿ ਕਲੇਸ ਤ੍ਰਾਸ ਸਭ ਨਾਸੈ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਹਿਤੁ ਲਾਵੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| mittehi kalaes thraas sabh naasai saadhhasang hith laavai ||1|| rehaao || |
| His sorrows are dispelled, and his fears are all erased; he is in love with the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. ||1||Pause|| |

| Meditating, meditating in remembrance on my Lord and Master, I became cool and calm; my pains, sorrows and doubts are gone. ||1|| |

| Meditating in remembrance on the Lord, total peace and bliss are obtained, and all sorrows are taken away. |

| ਆਨ ਜੰਜਾਰ ਬ੍ਰਿਥਾ ਸ੍ਰਮੁ ਘਾਲਤ ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਫੋਕਟ ਗਿਆਨ ॥ |
| aan janjaar brithhaa sram ghaalath bin har fokatt giaan || |
| Entangled in other affairs, the mortal suffers uselessly in sorrow. Without the Lord, wisdom is useless. |

| ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਬੁਝੀ ਪੂਰਨ ਸਭ ਆਸਾ ਚੂਕੇ ਸੋਗ ਸੰਤਾਪ ॥ |
| thrisanaa bujhee pooran sabh aasaa chookae sog santhaap || |
| My thirst is quenched, and my hopes have all been fulfilled; my sorrows and sufferings are over. |

| ਓਨਾ ਸੋਗੁ ਵਿਜੋਗੁ ਨ ਵਿਆਪਈ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਣਾ ਭਾਇਆ ॥ |
| ounaa sog vijog n viaapee har bhaanaa bhaaeiaa || |
| Sorrow and separation do not cling to them at all. They are pleased with the Lord's Will. |

| ਸਬਦੁ ਸੀਤਲੁ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਤਿਥੈ ਸੋਗੁ ਵਿਜੋਗੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥ |
| sabadh seethal man than vasai thithhai sog vijog n koe || |
| When the cooling and soothing Shabad comes to dwell in the mind and body, there is no sorrow or separation there. |

| ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਰਵਿਆ ਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਗਲੇ ਦੂਖ ਨਿਵਾਰੇ ॥ |

| The Shabad permeates my inner being, and I have found the Guru; all my sorrows are dispelled. |
