ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੰਤੁ ਰੰਗੀਲਾ ਪਾਇਆ ਫਿਰਿ ਦੂਖੁ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ਆਏ ॥੪॥੧॥ |
jan naanak kanth rangeelaa paaeiaa fir dhookh n laagai aaeae ||4||1|| |
Servant Nanak has found his Playful Husband Lord. He shall never suffer in sorrow again. ||4||1|| |

ਹਰਿ ਬਿਸਰਤ ਤੇ ਦੁਖਿ ਦੁਖਿ ਮਰਤੇ ॥ |
har bisarath thae dhukh dhukh marathae || |
Forgetting the Lord, they suffer in sorrow and die. |

ਦੂਖ ਦਰਦ ਬਿਨਸੈ ਭਵ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਰਿਦੈ ਬਸਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
dhookh dharadh binasai bhav saagar gur kee moorath ridhai basaae ||1|| rehaao || |
The pains and sorrows of the terrifying world-ocean are dispelled, by enshrining the Image of the Guru within your heart. ||1||Pause|| |

ਮਿਟੇ ਕਲੇਸ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨ ਸਭ ਬੂਝੀ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਮਨਿ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥ |
mittae kalaes thrisan sabh boojhee paarabreham man dhhiaaeiaa || |
My sorrows are erased, and all my thirsts are quenched, meditating on the Supreme Lord God. |

ਕਲਿ ਕਲੇਸ ਮਿਟੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਨ ਜੋਨੀ ਮਾਟ ॥੨॥੧੦॥੧੪॥ |
kal kalaes mittae dhaas naanak bahur n jonee maatt ||2||10||14|| |
Slave Nanak's sorrow and suffering has ended. He shall never again be squeezed into the mold of reincarnation. ||2||10||14|| |

ਆਨ ਉਪਾਵ ਸਗਰ ਕੀਏ ਨਹਿ ਦੂਖ ਸਾਕਹਿ ਲਾਹਿ ॥ |
aan oupaav sagar keeeae nehi dhookh saakehi laahi || |
I tried everything else, but nothing could rid me of my sorrow. |

ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਏਕ ਰੰਗਿ ਮਿਟਿ ਜਾਂਹਿ ਦੋਖ ਮੀਤ ॥੧॥ |
har simar eaek rang mitt jaanhi dhokh meeth ||1|| |
Meditate in loving remembrance on the One Lord; your sorrows shall be ended, O friend. ||1|| |

ਮੋਹੁ ਸੋਗੁ ਵਿਜੋਗੁ ਹੈ ਪੂਰਬਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਕਮਾਇ ॥ |
mohu sog vijog hai poorab likhiaa kamaae || |
Attachment brings the sorrow of separation; the mortal acts in accordance with pre-ordained destiny. |

ਤਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਸੋਗੁ ਵਿਜੋਗੁ ਕਦੇ ਨਹੀ ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਅੰਕਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੭॥ |
thinh sog vijog kadhae nehee jo har kai ank samaae ||7|| |
They never suffer sorrow or separation; they are merged in the Being of the Lord. ||7|| |

ਤਾ ਕਉ ਦੂਖੁ ਨਹੀ ਤਿਲੁ ਸੁਪਨਾ ॥੨॥ |
thaa ko dhookh nehee thil supanaa ||2|| |
shall not suffer sorrow, even in dreams. ||2|| |
|
ਤਾਪ ਸੰਤਾਪ ਮਿਟੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਬਾਹੁੜਿ ਕਾਲੁ ਨ ਖਾਇ ॥੨॥੧੧॥ |
thaap santhaap mittae naanak baahurr kaal n khaae ||2||11|| |
Sorrow and suffering shall be erased, O Nanak, and you shall never again be devoured by death. ||2||11|| |

ਸੋਗੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਖੀ ਹੈ ਰੇ ਛੋਡਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਕਿਛੁ ਲੇਤੈ ॥ |
sog naahee sadhaa harakhee hai rae shhodd naahee kishh laethai || |
He is never in sorrow - he is always happy; but he gives this up, and does not take anything. |

ਹਰਖ ਸੋਗ ਤੇ ਰਹਹਿ ਨਿਰਾਰਾ ਤਾਂ ਤੂ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਾਨਪਤੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
harakh sog thae rehehi niraaraa thaan thoo paavehi praanapathae ||1|| rehaao || |
If you remain unattached and unaffected by sorrow and joy, then you shall find the Lord of Life. ||1||Pause|| |

ਇਸ ਨੋ ਵਿਆਪੈ ਸੋਗ ਸੰਤਾਪੁ ॥ |
eis no viaapai sog santhaap || |
It is afflicted by sorrow and suffering. |
|
ਰੋਗ ਸੋਗ ਬਿਓਗੰ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੁਖੁ ਨ ਸੁਪਨਹ ॥੨੪॥ |
rog sog biougan naanak sukh n supaneh ||24|| |
Disease, sorrow and separation afflict him; O Nanak, he never finds peace, even in dreams. ||24|| |

ਸਖੀ ਮੋਰੈ ਕੰਠਿ ਰਤੰਨੁ ਪੇਖਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਨਾਸਨਾ ॥ |
sakhee morai kanth rathann paekh dhukh naasanaa || |
O my companion, the Jewel is around my neck; beholding it, sorrow is taken away. |

ਘਬੁ ਦਬੁ ਜਬ ਜਾਰੀਐ ਬਿਛੁਰਤ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਬਿਹਾਲ ॥ |
ghab dhab jab jaareeai bishhurath praem bihaal || |
When someone's home and property are burnt, because of his attachment to them, he suffers in the sorrow of separation. |

ਸਾਂਈ ਬਾਝਹੁ ਆਪਣੇ ਵੇਦਣ ਕਹੀਐ ਕਿਸੁ ॥੧੦॥ |
saanee baajhahu aapanae vaedhan keheeai kis ||10|| |
Without my Lord, who can I tell of my sorrow? ||10|| |

ਜਹ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮਾਧਿਓ ਹਰਖੁ ਸੋਗੁ ਸਮ ਕਰਿ ਸਹਾਰੇ ॥ |
jeh naam samaadhhiou harakh sog sam kar sehaarae || |
One who meditates on the Naam in Samaadhi, endures sorrow and joy as one and the same. |

ਦੂਖ ਵਿਸਾਰਣੁ ਸਬਦੁ ਹੈ ਜੇ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਏ ਕੋਇ ॥ |
dhookh visaaran sabadh hai jae mann vasaaeae koe || |
The Word of the Shabad is the Dispeller of sorrow, if one enshrines it in the mind. |

ਨਾਨਕ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਸਭੁ ਦੂਖ ਨਿਵਾਰਣਹਾਰੁ ॥੧੬॥ |
naanak sathigur miliai prabh paaeeai sabh dhookh nivaaranehaar ||16|| |
O Nanak, meeting the True Guru, God is found; He is the Eradicator of all sorrow. ||16|| |

ਆਨੰਦ ਹਰਿ ਜਸ ਮਹਾ ਮੰਗਲ ਸਰਬ ਦੂਖ ਵਿਸਾਰਿਆ ॥ |
aanandh har jas mehaa mangal sarab dhookh visaariaa || |
In the ecstasy of the Lord's Praises, they obtain supreme joy, and forget all their sorrows. |

ਅਛਤ ਰਾਜ ਬਿਛੁਰਤ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸੋ ਗਤਿ ਭਈ ਹਮਾਰੀ ॥੨॥ |
ashhath raaj bishhurath dhukh paaeiaa so gath bhee hamaaree ||2|| |
His kingdom is intact, but separated from it, he suffers in sorrow. Such is my own condition. ||2|| |

ਸਾਂਤਿ ਸਹਜੁ ਰਹਸੁ ਮਨਿ ਉਪਜਿਓ ਸਗਲੇ ਦੂਖ ਪਲਾਇਣ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
saanth sehaj rehas man oupajiou sagalae dhookh palaaein ||1|| rehaao || |
Peace, tranquility, poise and delight well up in my mind, and all sorrows run away. ||1||Pause|| |
