| ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਖਾ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਮੇਰਾ ਅੰਤੇ ਹੋਇ ਸਖਾਈ ॥੩॥ |
| prabh sakhaa har jeeo maeraa anthae hoe sakhaaee ||3|| |
| The Dear Lord God is my Best Friend. In the end, He shall be my Companion and Support. ||3|| |

| ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਦਾ ਨਿਰਮਲਾ ਮਨਿ ਨਿਰਮਲਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾਇ ॥ |
| prabh maeraa sadhaa niramalaa man niramal paaeiaa jaae || |
| My God is forever Immaculate and Pure; with a pure mind, He can be found. |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਸੋਭਾ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਦੇਇ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਪੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਦੇ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥੮॥੧॥੧੮॥ |
| naanak sobhaa surath dhaee prabh aapae guramukh dhae vaddiaaee ||8||1||18|| |
| O Nanak, God blesses us with the sublime awakening of consciousness; He Himself grants glorious greatness to the Gurmukh. ||8||1||18|| |

| ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਹੋਇ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸੁ ॥ |
| prabh kirapaa thae hoe pragaas || |
| By God's Grace, enlightenment comes. |
|
| ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਇਆ ਤੇ ਕਮਲ ਬਿਗਾਸੁ ॥ |
| prabhoo dhaeiaa thae kamal bigaas || |
| By God's Kind Mercy, the heart-lotus blossoms forth. |
|
| ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸੁਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਬਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਸੋਇ ॥ |
| prabh suprasann basai man soe || |
| When God is totally pleased, He comes to dwell in the mind. |
|
| ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦਇਆ ਤੇ ਮਤਿ ਊਤਮ ਹੋਇ ॥ |
| prabh dhaeiaa thae math ootham hoe || |
| By God's Kind Mercy, the intellect is exalted. |

| ਅਗਮ ਅਗਾਧਿ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਸੋਇ ॥ |
| agam agaadhh paarabreham soe || |
| Unapproachable and Unfathomable is the Supreme Lord God; |

| ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਬੁਝੈ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਨੇਰਾ ॥ |
| saadhh kai sang bujhai prabh naeraa || |
| In the Company of the Holy, God is understood to be near at hand. |
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਧ ਕੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਨੀ ॥੧॥ |
| naanak saadhh kee sobhaa prabh maahi samaanee ||1|| |
| O Nanak, the glory of the Holy people merges into God. ||1|| |

| O Nanak, the Holy are at one with God. ||3|| |

| In the Company of the Holy, one dwells with the Supreme Lord God. |

| ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਸੋਭਾ ਸੁਰਦੇਵਾ ॥ |
| saadhh kai sang sobhaa suradhaevaa || |
| In the Company of the Holy, the divine, angelic beings sing God's Praises. |

| ਜੇ ਹਉ ਜਾਣਾ ਆਖਾ ਨਾਹੀ ਕਹਣਾ ਕਥਨੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥ |
| jae ho jaanaa aakhaa naahee kehanaa kathhan n jaaee || |
| Even knowing God, I cannot describe Him; He cannot be described in words. |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਨਿਰਗੁਣਿ ਗੁਣੁ ਕਰੇ ਗੁਣਵੰਤਿਆ ਗੁਣੁ ਦੇ ॥ |
| naanak niragun gun karae gunavanthiaa gun dhae || |
| O Nanak, God blesses the unworthy with virtue, and bestows virtue on the virtuous. |

| ਸਭਨਾ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਵੁੜੀ ਕਲਾਮ ॥ |
| sabhanaa likhiaa vurree kalaam || |
| were all inscribed by the Ever-flowing Pen of God. |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਹੁਕਮੀ ਆਵਹੁ ਜਾਹੁ ॥੨੦॥ |

| O Nanak, by the Hukam of God's Command, we come and go in reincarnation. ||20|| |

| ਕੀੜੀ ਤੁਲਿ ਨ ਹੋਵਨੀ ਜੇ ਤਿਸੁ ਮਨਹੁ ਨ ਵੀਸਰਹਿ ॥੨੩॥ |

| -these are not even equal to an ant, who does not forget God. ||23|| |

| ਏਵਡੁ ਊਚਾ ਹੋਵੈ ਕੋਇ ॥ |

| Only one as Great and as High as God |

| ਜੇ ਕੋ ਆਖੈ ਬੋਲੁਵਿਗਾੜੁ ॥ |

| If anyone presumes to describe God, |

| ਗਾਵਹਿ ਈਸਰੁ ਬਰਮਾ ਦੇਵੀ ਸੋਹਨਿ ਸਦਾ ਸਵਾਰੇ ॥ |
| gaavehi eesar baramaa dhaevee sohan sadhaa savaarae || |
| Shiva, Brahma and the Goddess of Beauty, ever adorned, sing. |

| ਸਚਾ ਆਪਿ ਸਚਾ ਦਰਬਾਰੁ ॥ |
| sachaa aap sachaa dharabaar || |
| God Himself is True, and True is His Court. |
|
| ਭਉ ਖਲਾ ਅਗਨਿ ਤਪ ਤਾਉ ॥ |
| bho khalaa agan thap thaao || |
| With the Fear of God as the bellows, fan the flames of tapa, the body's inner heat. |
|
| ਘੜੀਐ ਸਬਦੁ ਸਚੀ ਟਕਸਾਲ ॥ |
| gharreeai sabadh sachee ttakasaal || |
| and mint the True Coin of the Shabad, the Word of God. |
|

| thoon paarabreham baeanth baeanth jee thaerae kiaa gun aakh vakhaanaa || |
| You are the Supreme Lord God, Limitless and Infinite. What Virtues of Yours can I speak of and describe? |

| ਸੇ ਭਗਤ ਸੇ ਭਗਤ ਭਲੇ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਜੀ ਜੋ ਭਾਵਹਿ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਵੰਤਾ ॥੪॥ |
| sae bhagath sae bhagath bhalae jan naanak jee jo bhaavehi maerae har bhagavanthaa ||4|| |
| Those devotees, those devotees are sublime, O servant Nanak, who are pleasing to my Dear Lord God. ||4|| |

| abinaasee purakh paaeiaa paramaesar bahu sobh khandd brehamanddaa hae ||3|| |
| They have found the Imperishable Supreme Being, the Transcendent Lord God, and they receive great honor throughout all the worlds and realms. ||3|| |

| ਹਮ ਗਰੀਬ ਮਸਕੀਨ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੇਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਖੁ ਰਾਖੁ ਵਡ ਵਡਾ ਹੇ ॥ |
| ham gareeb masakeen prabh thaerae har raakh raakh vadd vaddaa hae || |
| I am poor and meek, God, but I belong to You! Save me-please save me, O Greatest of the Great! |

| ਇਹੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ਬਿਕਾਰੁ ਸੰਸੇ ਮਹਿ ਤਰਿਓ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ॥ |
| eihu sansaar bikaar sansae mehi thariou breham giaanee || |
| This world is engrossed in corruption and cynicism. Only those who know God are saved. |

| ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਆਖੈ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਘਟਿ ਨ ਆਖੈ ਕੋਇ ॥ |
| sabh ko aakhai bahuth bahuth ghatt n aakhai koe || |
| Everyone says that God is the Greatest of the Great. No one calls Him any less. |
|
| ਕਰਮਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਤਾ ਪਾਈਐ ਨਾਹੀ ਗਲੀ ਵਾਉ ਦੁਆਉ ॥੨॥ |
| karam milai thaa paaeeai naahee galee vaao dhuaao ||2|| |
| If one receives God's Grace, then such honors are received, and not by mere words. ||2|| |
|
| ਭੈ ਤੇਰੈ ਡਰੁ ਅਗਲਾ ਖਪਿ ਖਪਿ ਛਿਜੈ ਦੇਹ ॥ |
| bhai thaerai ddar agalaa khap khap shhijai dhaeh || |
| I am terrified by the Fear of You, God. Bothered and bewildered, my body is wasting away. |
|
| ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਹਰਿਮੰਦਰੁ ਸੋਹਣਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਮਹਿ ਮਾਣਕ ਲਾਲ ॥ਮੋਤੀ ਹੀਰਾ ਨਿਰਮਲਾ ਕੰਚਨ ਕੋਟ ਰੀਸਾਲ ॥ |
| prabh harimandhar sohanaa this mehi maanak laal || mothee heeraa niramalaa kanchan kott reesaal || |
| The Palace of the Lord God is so beautiful. Within it, there are gems, rubies, pearls and flawless diamonds. A fortress of gold surrounds this Source of Nectar. |
|
| ਸੁਰਤਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਪਤਿ ਊਗਵੈ ਗੁਰਬਚਨੀ ਭਉ ਖਾਇ ॥ |
| surath hovai path oogavai gurabachanee bho khaae || |
| Intuitive understanding is obtained and one is welcomed with honor, through the Guru's Word, filled with the Fear of God. |

| ਭੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਕਿਉ ਥੀਐ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| bhai bin nirabho kio thheeai guramukh sabadh samaae ||1|| rehaao || |
| Without the Fear of God, how can anyone become fearless? Become Gurmukh, and immerse yourself in the Shabad. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਸੰਤੋਖੀਆ ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪਾਸਿ ॥੫॥੧੬॥ |
| naanak naam santhokheeaa jeeo pindd prabh paas ||5||16|| |
| O Nanak, they are contented with the Naam, the Name of the Lord. They offer their bodies and souls to God. ||5||16|| |

| ਸਤਗੁਰਿ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਨਾਲਿ ॥੪॥੧੭॥ |
| sathagur mael milaaeiaa naanak so prabh naal ||4||17|| |
| The True Guru has united me in Union, O Nanak, with that God. ||4||17|| |

| ਮਨੁ ਬੈਰਾਗੀ ਘਰਿ ਵਸੈ ਸਚ ਭੈ ਰਾਤਾ ਹੋਇ ॥ |
| man bairaagee ghar vasai sach bhai raathaa hoe || |
| If the mind becomes balanced and detached, and comes to dwell in its own true home, imbued with the Fear of God, |
|
| ਨਿਤਿ ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਸਤਗੁਰਿ ਦੀਆ ਨਾਮੁ ॥੨॥ |
| nith ahinis har prabh saeviaa sathagur dheeaa naam ||2|| |
| Day and night, continually serve the Lord God; the True Guru has given the Naam. ||2|| |
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਤੇ ਮੁਖ ਉਜਲੇ ਧੁਨਿ ਉਪਜੈ ਸਬਦੁ ਨੀਸਾਣੁ ॥੪॥੨੨॥ |
| naanak thae mukh oujalae dhhun oupajai sabadh neesaan ||4||22|| |
| O Nanak, their faces are radiant; the Music of the Shabad, the Word of God, wells up within them. ||4||22|| |
|
| ਬਿਖੈ ਬਿਕਾਰ ਦੁਸਟ ਕਿਰਖਾ ਕਰੇ ਇਨ ਤਜਿ ਆਤਮੈ ਹੋਇ ਧਿਆਈ ॥ |
| bikhai bikaar dhusatt kirakhaa karae ein thaj aathamai hoe dhhiaaee || |
| So weed out evil, wickedness and corruption; leave these behind, and let your soul meditate on God. |
|
| ਭੀ ਕਰਤਾਰਹੁ ਡਰਣਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| bhee karathaarahu ddaranaa ||1|| rehaao || |
| so live in the Fear of God the Creator. ||1||Pause|| |
|
| ਤਾ ਤੂ ਮੁਲਾ ਤਾ ਤੂ ਕਾਜੀ ਜਾਣਹਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਖੁਦਾਈ ॥ |
| thaa thoo mulaa thaa thoo kaajee jaanehi naam khudhaaee || |
| You are a Mullah, and you are a Qazi, only when you know the Naam, the Name of God. |
