| My doubts and attachments have been dispelled, and the blinding bonds of Maya have been broken. My Lord and Master is pervading and permeating everywhere; no one is an enemy. |

| ਉਪਜਤਾ ਬਿਕਾਰ ਦੁੰਦਰ ਨਉਪਰੀ ਝੁਨੰਤਕਾਰ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਅਨਿਗ ਭਾਉ ਕਰਤ ਫਿਰਤ ਬਿਨੁ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਧੋਹੇ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| oupajathaa bikaar dhundhar nouparee jhunanthakaar sundhar anig bhaao karath firath bin gopaal dhhohae || rehaao || |
| The disturbing noise of corruption wells up, in the tinkling ankle bells of Maya the beautiful. With her beguiling gestures of love, she seduces everyone except the Lord. ||Pause|| |

| ਤੀਨਿ ਭਉਨੇ ਲਪਟਾਇ ਰਹੀ ਕਾਚ ਕਰਮਿ ਨ ਜਾਤ ਸਹੀ ਉਨਮਤ ਅੰਧ ਧੰਧ ਰਚਿਤ ਜੈਸੇ ਮਹਾ ਸਾਗਰ ਹੋਹੇ ॥੧॥ |
| theen bhounae lapattaae rehee kaach karam n jaath sehee ounamath andhh dhhandhh rachith jaisae mehaa saagar hohae ||1|| |
| Maya clings to the three worlds; those who are stuck in wrong actions cannot escape her. Drunk and engrossed in blind worldly affairs, they are tossed about on the mighty ocean. ||1|| |

| Intoxicated with Maya and its riches, involved in corrupt pleasures, you have not sought the Sanctuary of the Lord. ||1||Pause|| |

| Many Mayas, which cannot be known. |

| ਤ੍ਰੈ ਗੁਣ ਆਪਿ ਸਿਰਜਿਅਨੁ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਵਧਾਇਆ ॥ |
| thrai gun aap sirajian maaeiaa mohu vadhhaaeiaa || |
| He Himself formed the three gunas, the three qualities; He increased the attachment to Maya. |

| ਸਕਤਿ ਗਈ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਕਟਿਆ ਸਿਵ ਜੋਤਿ ਜਗਾਇਆ ॥ |
| sakath gee bhram kattiaa siv joth jagaaeiaa || |
| Maya's power is gone, and doubt is eradicated; awaken to the Light of the Lord. |

| ਨਾਇ ਸੁਣਿਐ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਹੋਇ ਕਵਲਾ ਚਰਨ ਧਿਆਵੈ ॥ |
| naae suniai santhokh hoe kavalaa charan dhhiaavai || |
| Hearing the Name, contentment comes, and Maya meditates at one's feet. |

| ਸਾਹਿਬ ਸਬਦੁ ਨ ਊਚਰੈ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹ ਪਸਾਰੀ ॥ |
| saahib sabadh n oocharai maaeiaa moh pasaaree || |
| You do not chant the Shabad, the Word of Your Lord and Master; you are attached to the expanse of Maya. |
|
| ਮਹਾ ਕਰੂਪ ਦੁਖੀਏ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਲੇ ਮੁਹ ਮਾਇਆ ॥ |
| mehaa karoop dhukheeeae sadhaa kaalae muh maaeiaa || |
| They are totally ugly, and always in pain. Their faces are blackened by Maya. |
|
| ਭੂਪਤਿ ਰਾਜੇ ਰੰਗ ਰਾਇ ਸੰਚਹਿ ਬਿਖੁ ਮਾਇਆ ॥ |
| bhoopath raajae rang raae sanchehi bikh maaeiaa || |
| Kings, rulers and monarchs enjoy pleasures and gather the poison of Maya. |
|
| ਪੁਤ੍ਰ ਕਲਤ੍ਰ ਨ ਵਿਸਹਹਿ ਬਹੁ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਲਗਾਇਆ ॥ |
| puthr kalathr n visehehi bahu preeth lagaaeiaa || |
| They do not trust their own children or spouses; they are totally attached to the love of Maya. |
|
| ਵੇਖਦਿਆ ਹੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਧੁਹਿ ਗਈ ਪਛੁਤਹਿ ਪਛੁਤਾਇਆ ॥ |
| vaekhadhiaa hee maaeiaa dhhuhi gee pashhuthehi pashhuthaaeiaa || |
| But even as they look on, Maya cheats them, and they come to regret and repent. |
|
| ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਭ ਪਵਿਤੁ ਹੈ ਧਨੁ ਸੰਪੈ ਮਾਇਆ ॥ |
| guramukh sabh pavith hai dhhan sanpai maaeiaa || |
| To the Gurmukh, everything is sacred: wealth, property, Maya. |
|
| ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾਂ ਨਦਰੀ ਆਵਦਾ ਮਾਇਆ ਸੁਟਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ |
| guramukhaan nadharee aavadhaa maaeiaa sutt paaeiaa || |
| The Gurmukhs come to see the Lord, and leave behind the things of Maya. |
|
| ਮੂਰਖ ਅੰਧੇ ਤ੍ਰੈ ਗੁਣ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਕੈ ਬਿਉਹਾਰੀ ॥ |
| moorakh andhhae thrai gun saevehi maaeiaa kai biouhaaree || |
| The blind fools serve the three gunas, the three dispositions; they deal only with Maya. |
|
| ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿ ਵਿਸਾਰਿਆ ਸਚੁ ਮਰਣਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ॥ |
| maaeiaa mohi visaariaa sach maranaa har naam || |
| Emotionally attached to Maya, the mortal forgets truth, death and the Name of the Lord. |

| ਪੜਿ ਪੜਿ ਪੰਡਿਤ ਵਾਦੁ ਵਖਾਣਦੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹ ਸੁਆਇ ॥ |
| parr parr panddith vaadh vakhaanadhae maaeiaa moh suaae || |
| Reading and writing, the Pandits engage in debates and disputes; they are attached to the flavors of Maya. |

| ਪੁਤ੍ਰੁ ਕਲਤ੍ਰੁ ਨਿਤ ਵੇਖੈ ਵਿਗਸੈ ਮੋਹਿ ਮਾਇਆ ॥ |
| puthra kalathra nith vaekhai vigasai mohi maaeiaa || |
| Gazing on his children and his wife, the man is pleased and attached to Maya. |
|
| ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿ ਵਿਸਾਰਿਆ ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਭਉ ਹੇਤੁ ਅਪਾਰੁ ॥ |
| maaeiaa mohi visaariaa gur kaa bho haeth apaar || |
| Attached to Maya, the mortal forgets the Fear of God and Guru, and love for the Infinite Lord. |
|
| ਮਾਇਆ ਕਾਰਨਿ ਸ੍ਰਮੁ ਅਤਿ ਕਰੈ ॥ |
| maaeiaa kaaran sram ath karai || |
| For the sake of Maya, the mortal works very hard. |
|
| ਸੋ ਮਾਇਆ ਲੈ ਗਾਡੈ ਧਰੈ ॥ |
| so maaeiaa lai gaaddai dhharai || |
| He takes the wealth of Maya, and buries it in the ground. |
|
| ਸਬਦੁ ਚੀਨਿ ਭੈ ਕਪਟ ਨ ਛੂਟੇ ਮਨਿ ਮੁਖਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਮਾਇਆ ॥ |
| sabadh cheen bhai kapatt n shhoottae man mukh maaeiaa maaeiaa || |
| They think about the Shabad, but they are not released from their fear and fraud; the minds and mouths are filled with Maya, Maya. |
|
| ਏਹ ਤ੍ਰਿਗੁਣ ਮਾਇਆ ਜਿਨਿ ਜਗਤੁ ਭੁਲਾਇਆ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਕਾ ਸਹਸਾ ॥ |
| eaeh thrigun maaeiaa jin jagath bhulaaeiaa janam maran kaa sehasaa || |
| This three-phased Maya has deluded the whole world into cynicism about death and birth. |
|
| ਤ੍ਰੈ ਗੁਣ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਪਸਾਰਾ ਸਭ ਵਰਤੈ ਆਕਾਰੀ ॥ |
| thrai gun maaeiaa mohu pasaaraa sabh varathai aakaaree || |
| Attachment to the three-phased show of Maya pervades all the created forms. |
|
| ਮਾਇਆ ਮਮਤਾ ਕਰਤੈ ਲਾਈ ॥ |
| maaeiaa mamathaa karathai laaee || |
| The Creator has attached it to Maya and possessiveness. |
|
| ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੂਲੇ ਬਹੁ ਮਾਇਆ ॥ |
| bin gur bharam bhoolae bahu maaeiaa || |
| Without the Guru, so many wander lost and confused in Maya. |
|
| ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਅਗਿਆਨੁ ਗੁਬਾਰੁ ॥ |
| maaeiaa mohu agiaan gubaar || |
| Attachment to Maya leads to the darkness of ignorance. |
|
| ਬਹੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹ ਹਿਰਾਨੋ ॥ |
| bahu bidhh maaeiaa moh hiraano || |
| In so many ways, attachment to Maya leads to ruin. |
|
| ਮਾਇਆ ਬਿਖੁ ਫਿਰਿ ਬਹੁੜਿ ਨ ਚਾਖੈ ॥੨॥ |
| maaeiaa bikh fir bahurr n chaakhai ||2|| |
| and we will not have to taste the poison of Maya ever again. ||2|| |

| ਤ੍ਰੈ ਗੁਨ ਮਾਈ ਮੋਹਿ ਆਈ ਕਹੰਉ ਬੇਦਨ ਕਾਹਿ ॥੧॥ |
| thrai gun maaee mohi aaee kehano baedhan kaahi ||1|| |
| Maya with her three gunas - the three dispositions - has come to entice me; whom can I tell of my pain? ||1|| |
|
| ਤਿਆਗਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਧੋਹ ॥ |
| thiaag maaeiaa dhhoh || |
| I have renounced Maya, the deceiver. |
|
| ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਸਿਵ ਘਰਿ ਜੰਮੈ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਸਕਤਿ ਗਵਾਇ ॥ |
| gur parasaadhee siv ghar janmai vichahu sakath gavaae || |
| By Guru's Grace, the mortal is reincarnated into the Home of the Lord, having eradicated Maya from within. |

| ਇਕਨਾ ਨੋ ਤੁਧੁ ਏਵੈ ਭਾਵਦਾ ਮਾਇਆ ਨਾਲਿ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥ |
| eikanaa no thudhh eaevai bhaavadhaa maaeiaa naal piaar || |
| Some, according to Your Will, are in love with Maya. |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਮਾਇਆ ਕਰਮ ਬਿਰਖੁ ਫਲ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਫਲ ਵਿਸੁ ॥ |
| naanak maaeiaa karam birakh fal anmrith fal vis || |
| O Nanak, the tree of actions done in Maya yields ambrosial fruit and poisonous fruit. |

| ਚੇਰੀ ਸਕਤਿ ਜੀਤਿ ਲੇ ਭਵਣੁ ॥ |
| chaeree sakath jeeth lae bhavan || |
| His hand-maiden is Maya, who has conquered the world. |
|
| ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਦਹਨ ਭਏ ਖਿਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਤੂਟਿ ਗਏ ਮਾਇਆ ਕੇ ਫਾਸ ॥੨॥ |
| kilabikh dhehan bheae khin anthar thoott geae maaeiaa kae faas ||2|| |
| My sins were burnt away in an instant; the noose of the bondage of Maya was loosened. ||2|| |

| ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਵਸਤੁ ਮਾਇਆ ਗੜ੍ਹ੍ਹਿ ਵੇੜ੍ਹ੍ਹੀ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਲੀਓ ਗੜੁ ਜੀਤਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| har har vasath maaeiaa garrih vaerrhee gur kai sabadh leeou garr jeeth ||1|| rehaao || |
| The commodity of the Lord, Har, Har, is locked in the fortress of Maya; through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, I have conquered the fortress. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਬਿਖੁ ਮਾਇਆ ਸੰਚਿ ਬਹੁ ਚਿਤੈ ਬਿਕਾਰ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਹਰਿ ਭਜੁ ਸੰਤ ਸੰਤ ਸੰਗਤੀ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਗੁਰੁ ਸਾਧੋ ॥ |
| bikh maaeiaa sanch bahu chithai bikaar sukh paaeeai har bhaj santh santh sangathee mil sathiguroo gur saadhho || |
| Collecting the poison of Maya, people think of all sorts of evil. But peace is found only by vibrating and meditating on the Lord; with the Saints, in the Sangat, the Society of the Saints, meet the True Guru, the Holy Guru. |

| ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨ ਨ ਬੂਝੀ ਬਹੁ ਰੰਗ ਮਾਇਆ ॥ |
| thrisan n boojhee bahu rang maaeiaa || |
| Thirst and desire are not quenched by enjoying the many pleasures of Maya. |

| ਸੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਤਰੇ ਕੁਲ ਲੋਗਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਲਿਪਤ ਨ ਮਾਇਓ ॥੪॥੭॥ |
| santh prasaadh tharae kul logaa naanak lipath n maaeiou ||4||7|| |
| By the Grace of the Saints, the people and all their generations are saved; O Nanak, they are not engrossed in Maya. ||4||7|| |

| ਬਿਨੁ ਬੂਝੇ ਪਸੂ ਕੀ ਨਿਆਈ ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਮੋਹਿ ਬਿਆਪਿਓ ਮਾਇਆ ॥ |
| bin boojhae pasoo kee niaaee bhram mohi biaapiou maaeiaa || |
| Without understanding, they are like beasts, engrossed in doubt, emotional attachment and Maya. |

| ਤਨ ਮਨ ਗਲਤ ਭਏ ਤਿਹ ਸੰਗੇ ਮੋਹਨੀ ਮੋਹਿ ਰਹੀ ਮੋਰੀ ਮਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| than man galath bheae thih sangae mohanee mohi rehee moree maae ||1|| rehaao || |
| My body and mind are blended with Him, but the Enticer, Maya, is enticing me, O my mother. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਅਨਿਕ ਭਾਂਤਿ ਕੀ ਏਕੈ ਜਾਲੀ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਗੰਠਿ ਨਹੀ ਛੋਰਾਇ ॥੧॥ |
| anik bhaanth kee eaekai jaalee thaa kee ganth nehee shhoraae ||1|| |
| In all sorts of ways, Maya has cast the net; the knots cannot be loosened. ||1|| |

| ਕਾਟੇ ਅਗਿਆਨ ਭਰਮ ਮੋਹ ਮਾਇਆ ਲੀਓ ਕੰਠਿ ਲਗਾਇ ॥੨॥੪॥੨੩॥ |
| kaattae agiaan bharam moh maaeiaa leeou kanth lagaae ||2||4||23|| |
| The bonds of ignorance, doubt, emotional attachment and the love of Maya have been cut; God hugs me close in His Embrace. ||2||4||23|| |

| bewildered by the entanglements of Maya. |

| ਜੋ ਰਾਤੇ ਮਾਤੇ ਸੰਗਿ ਬਪੁਰੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹ ਸੰਤਾਪ ॥੧॥ |
| jo raathae maathae sang bapuree maaeiaa moh santhaap ||1|| |
| Those who are imbued and intoxicated with the wretched Maya, suffer the pains of emotional attachment. ||1|| |

| ਮਾਇਆ ਪਟਲ ਪਟਲ ਹੈ ਭਾਰੀ ਘਰੁ ਘੂਮਨਿ ਘੇਰਿ ਘੁਲਾਵੈਗੋ ॥ |
| maaeiaa pattal pattal hai bhaaree ghar ghooman ghaer ghulaavaigo || |
| The veil of Maya is a thick and heavy veil, a whirlpool which destroys one's home. |

| ਮਾਇਆ ਭੁਇਅੰਗ ਤਿਸੁ ਨੇੜਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਬਿਖੁ ਝਾਰਿ ਝਾਰਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਵੈਗੋ ॥੨॥ |
| maaeiaa bhueiang this naerr n aavai bikh jhaar jhaar liv laavaigo ||2|| |
| Maya, the serpent, does not even approach one who is rid of the poison, and lovingly attuned to the Lord. ||2|| |
