| jis prasaadh maaeiaa silak kaattee || |
| By His Grace, the bonds of Maya are cut away. |

| ਝੂਠਾ ਮਾਇਆ ਕਾ ਸਭੁ ਸੋਰੁ ॥ |
| jhoothaa maaeiaa kaa sabh sor || |
| All the tumult of Maya is false. |
|
| ਉਨ ਤੇ ਦੁਗੁਣ ਦਿੜੀ ਉਨ ਮਾਏ ॥੧॥ |
| oun thae dhugun dhirree oun maaeae ||1|| |
| they cling twice as hard to Maya. ||1|| |

| ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਤਨੁ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਧਨੁ ਮਾਇਆ ਸੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| dhhrig than dhhrig dhhan maaeiaa sang raathae ||1|| rehaao || |
| Their bodies are cursed, and their wealth is cursed - they are imbued with Maya. ||1||Pause|| |
|
| ਜਿਨਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀਨੀ ਤਿਨਿ ਲਾਈ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ॥ |
| jin maaeiaa dheenee thin laaee thrisanaa || |
| He who has given the wealth of Maya, has infused the desire for it. |

| ਬਹੁ ਰੰਗ ਮਾਇਆ ਬਹੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਪੇਖੀ ॥ |
| bahu rang maaeiaa bahu bidhh paekhee || |
| I have gazed upon the many forms of Maya, in so many ways. |
|
| ਏਕੈ ਜਾਲਿ ਫਹਾਏ ਪੰਖੀ ॥ |
| eaekai jaal fehaaeae pankhee || |
| The birds are caught in the net of Maya; |
|
| ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ॥ |
| prabh kirapaa thae naam dhhiaaeeai || |
| Their bodies are cursed, and their wealth is cursed - they are imbued with Maya. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਮਾਇਆ ਬਿਆਪਤ ਬਹੁ ਪਰਕਾਰੀ ॥ |
| maaeiaa biaapath bahu parakaaree || |
| Maya torments us in so many ways. |
|
| ਤਾ ਕਉ ਕਹਾ ਬਿਆਪੈ ਮਾਇ ॥ |
| thaa ko kehaa biaapai maae || |
| How can Maya torment them? |
|
| ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਨਿ ਧੂਰਿ ਸੰਤ ਪਾਈ ॥ਤਾ ਕੈ ਨਿਕਟਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਮਾਈ ॥੫॥੧੯॥੮੮॥ |
| kahu naanak jin dhhoor santh paaee || thaa kai nikatt n aavai maaee ||5||19||88|| |
| Says Nanak, Maya does not draw near those who have obtained the dust of the feet of the Saints. ||5||19||88|| |

| ਮਨੁ ਸੋਇਆ ਮਾਇਆ ਬਿਸਮਾਦਿ ॥੧॥ |
| man soeiaa maaeiaa bisamaadh ||1|| |
| The mind is asleep, fascinated by Maya. ||1|| |

| ਬਿਨਸਿ ਜਾਹਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਜੰਜਾਲ ॥ |
| binas jaahi maaeiaa janjaal || |
| and the entanglements of Maya are dispelled. |
|
| ਮਾਇਆ ਮਗਨ ਨ ਕਛੂਐ ਮੋਹੈ ॥੨॥ |
| maaeiaa magan n kashhooai mohai ||2|| |
| The intoxication of Maya shall not entice you at all. ||2|| |
|
| ਕਉਨ ਵਡਾ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥ |
| koun vaddaa maaeiaa vaddiaaee || |
| Who is great by the greatness of Maya? |
|
| ਤਾ ਕਉ ਮਾਇਆ ਅਗਨਿ ਨ ਪੋਹੈ ॥੩॥ |
| thaa ko maaeiaa agan n pohai ||3|| |
| The fire of Maya does not touch them. ||3|| |
|
| ਤਾ ਤੇ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਨ ਬਿਆਪੈ ਮਾਇਆ ॥੪॥੫੩॥੧੨੨॥ |
| thaa thae bahur n biaapai maaeiaa ||4||53||122|| |
| Maya shall no longer harass me. ||4||53||122|| |
|
| ਅਗਨਿ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਮਹਾ ਵਿਆਪੈ ਮਾਇਆ ॥ |
| agan saagar mehaa viaapai maaeiaa || |
| Maya pervades the awesome ocean of fire. |
|
| ਆਨ ਰੰਗ ਫੀਕੇ ਸਭ ਮਾਇਆ ॥੩॥ |
| aan rang feekae sabh maaeiaa ||3|| |
| All the other loves and tastes of Maya are bland and insipid. ||3|| |
|
| ਮਾਇਆ ਮਗਨੁ ਨਰਕਿ ਲੈ ਜਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| maaeiaa magan narak lai jaaee ||1|| rehaao || |
| The intoxication of Maya leads the others to hell. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਕਾਹੂ ਕਾਜ ਨ ਆਵਤ ਬਿਖਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| kaahoo kaaj n aavath bikhiaa ||1|| rehaao || |
| The poison of Maya is of no use at all. ||1||Pause|| |
|
| ਹਰਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਨਹੀ ਛਲੈ ॥ |
| har sang raathae maaeiaa nehee shhalai || |
| One who is attuned to the Lord, shall not be enticed by Maya. |

| ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿ ਸਭੋ ਜਗੁ ਸੋਇਆ ਇਹੁ ਭਰਮੁ ਕਹਹੁ ਕਿਉ ਜਾਈ ॥੧॥ |
| maaeiaa mohi sabho jag soeiaa eihu bharam kehahu kio jaaee ||1|| |
| In emotional attachment to Maya, all the world is asleep. Tell me, how can this doubt be dispelled? ||1|| |
|
| ਜਿਉ ਮੋਹਿਓ ਉਨਿ ਮੋਹਨੀ ਬਾਲਾ ਉਸ ਤੇ ਘਟੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਰੁਚ ਚਸੂਆ ॥੩॥ |
| jio mohiou oun mohanee baalaa ous thae ghattai naahee ruch chasooaa ||3|| |
| You were enticed by Maya in your youth, and your attachment for it has not diminished, one little bit. ||3|| |
|
| ਐਸਾ ਜੋਗੀ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਭੇਟੈ ਮਾਇਆ ਕੇ ਬੰਧਨ ਕਾਟੈ ॥ |
| aisaa jogee vaddabhaagee bhaettai maaeiaa kae bandhhan kaattai || |
| By great good fortune, such a Yogi is met, who cuts away the bonds of Maya. |

| ਮਤਵਾਰੋ ਮਾਇਆ ਸੋਇਆ ॥ |
| mathavaaro maaeiaa soeiaa || |
| Intoxicated with Maya, the people are asleep. |
|
| ਸੋ ਉਬਰਿਆ ਮਾਇਆ ਅਗਨਿ ਤੇ ॥੩॥ |
| so oubariaa maaeiaa agan thae ||3|| |
| are saved from the fire of Maya. ||3|| |
|
| ਇਸੁ ਮੀਠੀ ਤੇ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਹੋਰੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| eis meethee thae eihu man horai ||1|| rehaao || |
| and turn his mind away from this sweet Maya? ||1||Pause|| |

| ਅਨਿਕ ਬੰਧਨ ਮਾਇਆ ਭਰਮਤੁ ਭਰਮਾਇਆ ਗੁਣ ਨਿਧਿ ਨਹੀ ਗਾਇਆ ॥ |
| anik bandhhan maaeiaa bharamath bharamaaeiaa gun nidhh nehee gaaeiaa || |
| They wander around lost, trapped in the myriad bonds of Maya; they do not sing the Praises of the Treasure of Virtue. |

| ਜਾ ਕਉ ਰੇ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੈ ਜੀਵਤ ਸੋਈ ਮਰੈ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਤਰੈ ॥ |
| jaa ko rae kirapaa karai jeevath soee marai saadhhasang maaeiaa tharai || |
| Those, unto whom the Lord shows His Mercy, remain dead while yet alive. In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, they cross over the ocean of Maya. |

| ਸਰਬ ਲੋਕ ਮਾਇਆ ਕੇ ਮੰਡਲ ਗਿਰਿ ਗਿਰਿ ਪਰਤੇ ਧਰਣੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| sarab lok maaeiaa kae manddal gir gir parathae dhharanee ||1|| rehaao || |
| All other people, in the mansion of Maya, fall flat on their faces on the ground. ||1||Pause|| |
|
| ਕਦ ਹੀ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਨ ਲਧੀਆ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੜਿਆ ॥੧॥ |
| kadh hee surath n ladhheeaa maaeiaa moharriaa ||1|| |
| Bewitched by Maya, he never regains awareness. ||1|| |

| ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਮਗਨੁ ਰਹੈ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੈ ਕਹੁ ਕੈਸੇ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਵੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| ahinis magan rehai maaeiaa mai kahu kaisae gun gaavai ||1|| rehaao || |
| Day and night, they remain engrossed in Maya. Tell me, how can they sing God's Glories? ||1||Pause|| |
|
| ਪੂਤ ਮੀਤ ਮਾਇਆ ਮਮਤਾ ਸਿਉ ਇਹ ਬਿਧਿ ਆਪੁ ਬੰਧਾਵੈ ॥ |
| pooth meeth maaeiaa mamathaa sio eih bidhh aap bandhhaavai || |
| In this way, they bind themselves to children, friends, Maya and possessiveness. |
|
| ਤਜਿ ਅਭਿਮਾਨ ਮੋਹ ਮਾਇਆ ਫੁਨਿ ਭਜਨ ਰਾਮ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਵਉ ॥ |
| thaj abhimaan moh maaeiaa fun bhajan raam chith laavo || |
| Renounce your egotistical pride and your emotional attachment to Maya; focus your consciousness on the Lord's meditation. |
|
| ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹ ਮਹਾ ਸੰਕਟ ਬਨ ਤਾ ਸਿਉ ਰੁਚ ਉਪਜਾਵੈ ॥੧॥ |
| maaeiaa moh mehaa sankatt ban thaa sio ruch oupajaavai ||1|| |
| Emotional attachment to Maya is such a treacherous wilderness, and yet, people are in love with it. ||1|| |
|
| ਲੋਭ ਮੋਹ ਮਾਇਆ ਮਮਤਾ ਫੁਨਿ ਅਉ ਬਿਖਿਅਨ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ॥ਹਰਖ ਸੋਗ ਪਰਸੈ ਜਿਹ ਨਾਹਨਿ ਸੋ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਹੈ ਦੇਵਾ ॥੧॥ |
| lobh moh maaeiaa mamathaa fun ao bikhian kee saevaa || harakh sog parasai jih naahan so moorath hai dhaevaa ||1|| |
| Greed, emotional attachment to Maya, possessiveness, the service of evil, pleasure and pain - those who are not touched by these, are the very embodiment of the Divine Lord. ||1|| |

| ਅਉਰ ਸਗਲ ਜਗੁ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿਆ ਨਿਰਭੈ ਪਦੁ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੩॥੮॥ |
| aour sagal jag maaeiaa mohiaa nirabhai padh nehee paavai ||3||8|| |
| All the rest of the world is enticed by Maya; they do not obtain the state of fearless dignity. ||3||8|| |
|
| ਪੂਰਨ ਪੂਰਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਬਿਖੁ ਮਾਰਿ ॥ |
| pooran poor rehiaa bikh maar || |
| The Perfect Lord is All-pervading everywhere; He destroys the poison of Maya. |
|
| ਲਾਲ ਭਏ ਸੂਹਾ ਰੰਗੁ ਮਾਇਆ ॥ |
| laal bheae soohaa rang maaeiaa || |
| Instead of the pale color of Maya, I am imbued with the deep crimson color of the Lord's Love. |
|
| ਮਨੁ ਭੂਲੋ ਮਾਇਆ ਘਰਿ ਜਾਇ ॥ |
| man bhoolo maaeiaa ghar jaae || |
| The deluded mind enters the house of Maya. |
|
| ਮਨਮੁਖ ਮੂੜ ਮਾਇਆ ਚਿਤ ਵਾਸੁ ॥ |
| manamukh moorr maaeiaa chith vaas || |
| The consciousness of the foolish, self-willed manmukh is the dwelling place of Maya. |
|
| ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਸਰਬ ਜੰਜਾਲਾ ॥ |
| maaeiaa mohu sarab janjaalaa || |
| Emotional attachment to Maya is total entanglement. |
|
| ਦੂਜੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਜਗਤ ਚਿਤ ਵਾਸੁ ॥ |
| dhoojee maaeiaa jagath chith vaas || |
| The duality of Maya dwells in the consciousness of the people of the world. |
|
| ਬਲਿ ਰਾਜਾ ਮਾਇਆ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੀ ॥ |
| bal raajaa maaeiaa ahankaaree || |
| Bal the King, in Maya and egotism, |
|
| ਮਾਇਆ ਮਗਨੁ ਪਰਮ ਪਦੁ ਦੂਰਿ ॥ |
| maaeiaa magan param padh dhoor || |
| and the intoxication of Maya, takes one far away from the state of supreme dignity. |
|
| ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੇ ਦੇਵੀ ਸਭਿ ਦੇਵਾ ॥ |
| maaeiaa mohae dhaevee sabh dhaevaa || |
| All the gods and goddesses are enticed by Maya. |
|
| ਨਿਹਚਲ ਮਹਲੁ ਨਹੀ ਛਾਇਆ ਮਾਇਆ ॥ |
| nihachal mehal nehee shhaaeiaa maaeiaa || |
| His Mansion is eternal and unchanging; it is not a mere reflection of Maya. |
|
| ਸਾਇਰ ਕੀ ਪੁਤ੍ਰੀ ਬਿਦਾਰਿ ਗਵਾਈ ॥ |
| saaeir kee puthree bidhaar gavaaee || |
| Maya, the daughter of the ocean, has been slain. |
