| ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਸਲਾਹ ਹੈ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥੩॥ |
| guramukh bhagath salaah hai anthar sabadh apaaraa ||3|| |
| The Gurmukh is the Lord's devotee, immersed in His Praises; the Infinite Word of the Shabad dwells within him. ||3|| |

| bin sabadhai aap n jaapee sabh andhhee bhaaee || |
| Without the Word of the Shabad, they do not understand themselves -they are totally blind, O Siblings of Destiny. |

| ਅੰਤਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਹੈ ਨਾਮੇ ਸਬਦਿ ਵੀਚਾਰਾ ॥੩॥ |
| anthar naam mukh naam hai naamae sabadh veechaaraa ||3|| |
| Deep within their hearts is the Naam; upon their lips is the Naam; they contemplate the Word of God, and the Naam. ||3|| |
|
| ਭਗਤਿ ਰਤੇ ਸੇ ਊਤਮਾ ਜਤਿ ਪਤਿ ਸਬਦੇ ਹੋਇ ॥ |
| bhagath rathae sae oothamaa jath path sabadhae hoe || |
| Those who are imbued with devotional worship are the most exalted. Their social standing and honor come from the Word of the Shabad. |

| ਰੂੜੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਜੇ ਰਪੈ ਨਾ ਇਹੁ ਰੰਗੁ ਲਹੈ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| roorree baanee jae rapai naa eihu rang lehai n jaae ||1|| rehaao || |
| If you imbue yourself with the Beauteous Word of the Guru's Bani, then this color shall never fade away. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੇ ਲਾਇ ਸਵਾਰਿਅਨੁ ਸਬਦੇ ਲਏ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥੮॥੯॥੩੧॥ |
| naanak naamae laae savaarian sabadhae leae milaae ||8||9||31|| |
| O Nanak, the Lord embellishes us with the Name; attached to the Word of the Shabad, we are merged into Him. ||8||9||31|| |

| ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਤੇ ਸੁਖੁ ਊਪਜੈ ਸਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਬੁਝਾਏ ॥੪॥ |
| gur saevaa thae sukh oopajai sachai sabadh bujhaaeae ||4|| |
| Serving the Guru, peace wells up; through the True Word of the Shabad, one comes to understand. ||4|| |
|
| ਸਤੁ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਇਹ ਸੰਜਮੀ ਮਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਸਬਦੁ ਸੁਣਾਏ ॥੬॥ |
| sath santhokh eih sanjamee man niramal sabadh sunaaeae ||6|| |
| This mind finds truth, contentment and self-discipline, hearing the Immaculate Word of the Shabad. ||6|| |
|
| ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਸਚਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਾਇ ॥੭॥ |
| gur thae keemath paaeeai sach sabadh sojhee paae ||7|| |
| Through the Guru, His value is found; through the True Word of the Shabad, understanding is obtained. ||7|| |
|
| ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਦੇਹੀ ਸੋਧਿ ਤੂੰ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ॥ |
| eihu man dhaehee sodhh thoon gur sabadh veechaar || |
| So reform this mind and body, by contemplating the Word of the Guru's Shabad. |

| ਘਰ ਹੀ ਸੋ ਪਿਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ॥੧॥ |
| ghar hee so pir paaeiaa sachai sabadh veechaar ||1|| |
| They find their Husband Lord within their own home, contemplating the True Word of the Shabad. ||1|| |
|
| ਸਦ ਸੁਣਦਾ ਸਦ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਸਬਦਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| sadh sunadhaa sadh vaekhadhaa sabadh rehiaa bharapoor ||1|| rehaao || |
| He is always listening, and always watching over us; the Word of His Shabad is all-pervading everywhere. ||1||Pause|| |
|
| ਜਿਨ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਿਉ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇਆ ਸੇ ਜਨ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ॥ |
| jin baanee sio chith laaeiaa sae jan niramal paravaan || |
| Those persons who link their consciousness with the Word of His Bani, are immaculately pure, and approved by the Lord. |
|
| ਸਬਦੌ ਹੀ ਭਗਤ ਜਾਪਦੇ ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਕੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਚੀ ਹੋਇ ॥ |
| sabadha hee bhagath jaapadhae jinh kee baanee sachee hoe || |
| Through the Word of the Shabad, the devotees are known; their words are true. |
|
| ਸਬਦਿ ਮਰੈ ਤਾ ਜਾਤਿ ਜਾਇ ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਭਗਵਾਨੁ ॥੨॥ |
| sabadh marai thaa jaath jaae jothee joth milai bhagavaan ||2|| |
| If one dies in the Word of the Shabad, then he is rid of this, and his light is merged into the Light of the Lord God. ||2|| |
|
| ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਾਏ ਸੋ ਕਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ॥ |
| jis no bhagath karaaeae so karae gur sabadh veechaar || |
| He alone performs devotional worship, whom the Lord so blesses; he contemplates the Word of the Guru's Shabad. |
|
| ਆਪੁ ਪਛਾਣਹਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਰਹਿ ਮਨਹੁ ਤਜਿ ਵਿਕਾਰ ॥ |
| aap pashhaanehi sabadh marehi manahu thaj vikaar || |
| He understands his own self, and dies in the Word of the Shabad; he banishes corruption from his mind. |
|
| ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਸੀਗਾਰੀਆ ਅਪਣੇ ਸਹਿ ਲਈਆ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥੬॥ |
| gur sabadhee seegaareeaa apanae sehi leeaa milaae ||6|| |
| They decorate themselves with the Word of the Guru's Shabad, and their Husband Lord unites them with Himself. ||6|| |
|
| ਆਪਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਅਨੁ ਸੇ ਮਿਲੇ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ॥ |
| aap milaaeian sae milae gur sabadh veechaar || |
| They alone are united, whom the Lord unites with Himself; they contemplate the Word of the Guru's Shabad. |
|
| ਘਘੈ ਘਾਲ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਜੇ ਘਾਲੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਕੈ ਲਾਗਿ ਰਹੈ ॥ |
| ghaghai ghaal saevak jae ghaalai sabadh guroo kai laag rehai || |
| Ghagha: The servant who performs service, remains attached to the Word of the Guru's Shabad. |
|
| ਏਕੁ ਸਬਦੁ ਤੂੰ ਚੀਨਹਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਜੂਨੀ ਆਵਹਿਗਾ ॥੪॥ |
| eaek sabadh thoon cheenehi naahee fir fir joonee aavehigaa ||4|| |
| You have not remembered the One Word of the Shabad, and so you shall have to enter the womb over and over again. ||4|| |
|
| ਕਰਿ ਦਇਆ ਮਇਆ ਦਇਆਲ ਸਾਚੇ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਓ ॥ |
| kar dhaeiaa maeiaa dhaeiaal saachae sabadh mil gun gaavou || |
| Be kind and compassionate to me, O Merciful True Lord, that I may obtain the Word of the Shabad, and sing Your Glorious Praises. |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਨਦਰੀ ਧਨ ਸੋਹਾਗਣਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਅਭ ਸਾਧਾਰਏ ॥੩॥ |
| naanak nadharee dhhan sohaagan sabadh abh saadhhaareae ||3|| |
| O Nanak, blessed is the soul-bride, upon whom He casts His Glance of Grace; she enshrines the Word of the Shabad in her heart. ||3|| |

| ਸਚੁ ਸੰਜਮੋ ਸਾਰਿ ਗੁਣਾ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੁ ਕਮਾਈਐ ਰਾਮ ॥ |
| sach sanjamo saar gunaa gur sabadh kamaaeeai raam || |
| By practicing truthfulness and self-restraint, by contemplating His Glorious Virtues, and living the Word of the Guru's Shabad. |
|
| ਸਚੁ ਸਬਦੁ ਕਮਾਈਐ ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਜਾਈਐ ਪਾਈਐ ਗੁਣੀ ਨਿਧਾਨਾ ॥ |
| sach sabadh kamaaeeai nij ghar jaaeeai paaeeai gunee nidhhaanaa || |
| Practicing the True Word of the Shabad, one comes to the home of his own inner being, and obtains the treasure of virtue. |
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਪਛਾਣੈ ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ॥੧॥ |
| naanak guramukh sabadh pashhaanai ahinis naam dhhiaaeeai ||1|| |
| O Nanak, the Gurmukh realizes the Word of the Shabad; night and day, he meditates on the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||1|| |
|
| ਜਮ ਮਗਿ ਬਾਧਾ ਖਾਹਿ ਚੋਟਾ ਸਬਦ ਬਿਨੁ ਬੇਤਾਲਿਆ ॥ |
| jam mag baadhhaa khaahi chottaa sabadh bin baethaaliaa || |
| You shall be bound and beaten on the road of Death, without the Word of the Shabad, O madman. |
|
| ਸਚੁ ਕਹੈ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਾਚੈ ਮੇਲਿ ਚਿਰੀ ਵਿਛੁੰਨਿਆ ॥੪॥੧॥੫॥ |
| sach kehai naanak sabadh saachai mael chiree vishhunniaa ||4||1||5|| |
| Nanak speaks the Truth; through the True Word of the Shabad, those long separated from the Lord, are united once again. ||4||1||5|| |

| ਹਮ ਘਰੇ ਸਾਚਾ ਸੋਹਿਲਾ ਸਾਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੁਹਾਇਆ ਰਾਮ ॥ |
| ham gharae saachaa sohilaa saachai sabadh suhaaeiaa raam || |
| Within my home, the true wedding songs of rejoicing are sung; my home is adorned with the True Word of the Shabad. |

| ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੀਗਾਰੀ ਸਚਿ ਸਵਾਰੀ ਸਦਾ ਰਾਵੇ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੀ ॥ |
| gur sabadh seegaaree sach savaaree sadhaa raavae rang raathee || |
| Embellished with the Word of the Guru's Shabad, and beautified with Truth, she enjoys her Beloved forever, imbued with His Love. |

| ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਵਾਰੀ ਸਫਲਿਉ ਜਨਮੁ ਸਬਾਇਆ ॥੧॥ |
| kahu naanak gur sabadh savaaree safalio janam sabaaeiaa ||1|| |
| Says Nanak, fruitful and prosperous is her entire life; she is embellished with the Word of the Guru's Shabad. ||1|| |

| ਦੇਖਿ ਪਿਰੁ ਵਿਗਸੀ ਅੰਦਰਹੁ ਸਰਸੀ ਸਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੁਭਾਏ ॥ |
| dhaekh pir vigasee andharahu sarasee sachai sabadh subhaaeae || |
| Beholding her Husband Lord, she blossoms forth; her heart is delighted, and she is beautified by the True Word of the Shabad. |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਬਿਨੁ ਭਗਤੀ ਜਗੁ ਬਉਰਾਨਾ ਸਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਿਲਾਈ ॥੩॥ |
| naanak bin bhagathee jag bouraanaa sachai sabadh milaaee ||3|| |
| O Nanak, without devotional worship, the world has gone insane; through the True Word of the Shabad, one meets the Lord. ||3|| |

| ਸਾ ਧਨ ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਰਸਿ ਰਸੀ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਅਪਾਰੇ ਰਾਮ ॥ |
| saa dhhan har kai ras rasee gur kai sabadh apaarae raam || |
| The soul-bride is enraptured with the sublime essence of the Lord, through the incomparable Word of the Guru's Shabad. |

| ਸਬਦਿ ਅਪਾਰੇ ਮਿਲੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਸਦਾ ਗੁਣ ਸਾਰੇ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੇ ॥ |
| sabadh apaarae milae piaarae sadhaa gun saarae man vasae || |
| Through the incomparable Word of the Guru's Shabad, she meets her Beloved; she continually contemplates and enshrines His Glorious Virtues in her mind. |

| ਮਨ ਸਿਆਣਪ ਛੋਡੀਐ ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਸਮਾਲੇ ॥ |
| man siaanap shhoddeeai gur kaa sabadh samaalae || |
| Renounce your cleverness, O my mind, and reflect upon the Word of the Guru's Shabad. |

| ਅੰਤਰਿ ਅਗਿਆਨੁ ਹਉ ਬੁਧਿ ਹੈ ਸਚਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਲੁ ਖੋਹੁ ॥ |
| anthar agiaan ho budhh hai sach sabadh mal khohu || |
| Within the intellect are ignorance and ego; through the True Word of the Shabad, this filth is washed off. |

| ਬਾਣੀ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਲਾਗੇ ਤਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਹਥਿ ਚੜਿਆ ਰਾਮ ॥ |

| Those who are committed to the Word of the Guru's Bani, see them come into their hands. |

| ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਲਾਗੇ ਤਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਹਥਿ ਚੜਿਆ ਨਿਰਮੋਲਕੁ ਰਤਨੁ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥ |
| gurabaanee laagae thinh hathh charriaa niramolak rathan apaaraa || |
| This priceless, incomparable jewel comes into the hands of those who are committed to the Word of the Guru's Bani. |

| ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਡਾਈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਖਾਈ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਹਰਿ ਰਸ ਭੋਗ ਜੀਉ ॥ |
| har naam vaddaaee har naam sakhaaee gur sabadhee har ras bhog jeeo || |
| The Lord's Name is their glorious greatness; the Lord's Name is their companion and helper. Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, they enjoy the sublime essence of the Lord. |

| ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੁ ਕਮਾਇਆ ਅਉਖਧੁ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਪਾਇ ਜੀਉ ॥ |
| gur sabadh kamaaeiaa aoukhadhh har paaeiaa har keerath har saanth paae jeeo || |
| Acting in accordance with the Word of the Guru's Shabad, the medicine of the Lord's Name is obtained. Singing the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises, divine peace is obtained. |

| ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਆਰਾਧਿਆ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਵਿਗਾਸਿਆ ਬੀਜਾ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ਜੀਉ ॥ |
| har har aaraadhhiaa gur sabadh vigaasiaa beejaa avar n koe jeeo || |
| He meditates in adoration upon the Lord, Har, Har, and through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, he blossoms forth. He plants no other seed. |

| ਹਰਿ ਦਇਆ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਧਾਰਹੁ ਪਾਖਣ ਹਮ ਤਾਰਹੁ ਕਢਿ ਲੇਵਹੁ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ਜੀਉ ॥ |
| har dhaeiaa prabh dhhaarahu paakhan ham thaarahu kadt laevahu sabadh subhaae jeeo || |
| O Lord God, shower Your Mercy upon me; I am just a stone. Please, carry me across, and lift me up with ease, through the Word of the Shabad. |

| jis kee vasath prabh leae suaamee jan oubarae sabadh kamaae jeeo || |
| God, the Master, unto whom all things belong, shall take them away; the Lord's servant is redeemed by living the Word of the Shabad. |

| ਤੇਰਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਸਭੁ ਤੂੰਹੈ ਵਰਤਹਿ ਤੂੰ ਆਪੇ ਕਰਹਿ ਸੁ ਹੋਈ ॥ |
| thaeraa sabadh sabh thoonhai varathehi thoon aapae karehi s hoee || |
| The Word of Your Shabad is pervading in all; whatever You do, comes to pass. |

| ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਸਬਦਿ ਵਿਗਾਸਿਆ ਜਪਿ ਅਨਤ ਤਰੰਗਾ ॥ |
| maeraa man than sabadh vigaasiaa jap anath tharangaa || |
| My mind and body blossom forth through the Word of the Shabad; I meditate on the Lord of infinite waves. |

| ਜਿਨਾ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਈਆ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਛਕਿ ਛਕੇ ॥ |

| Those whose minds are pleased with the Word of the Guru's Bani, drink in the Ambrosial Nectar again and again. |

| ਹਰਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਗਿਰਾਸਿ ਨ ਬਿਸਰੈ ਕਬਹੂੰ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਰੰਗੁ ਮਾਣੀਐ ॥ |
| har saas giraas n bisarai kabehoon gur sabadhee rang maaneeai || |
| I shall never forget the Lord, for an instant, for a single breath; through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, I enjoy His Love. |

| ਸੁਨਿ ਸ੍ਰਵਨ ਬਾਨੀ ਪੁਰਖ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਮਨਿ ਨਿਧਾਨਾ ਪਾਵਹੇ ॥ |
| sun sravan baanee purakh giaanee man nidhhaanaa paavehae || |
| Listen with your ears to the Word of the Lord's Bani, the hymns of spiritual wisdom; thus you shall obtain the treasure in your mind. |
