| ਘਟੁ ਦੁਖ ਨੀਦੜੀਏ ਪਰਸਉ ਸਦਾ ਪਗਾ ॥ |
| ghatt dhukh needharreeeae paraso sadhaa pagaa || |
| O painful sleep, grow shorter, so that I may constantly grasp His Feet. |

| ਨਹ ਦੂਖ ਪਾਵੈ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਧਿਆਵੈ ਧੰਨਿ ਤੇ ਬਡਭਾਗੀਆ ॥ |
| neh dhookh paavai prabh dhhiaavai dhhann thae baddabhaageeaa || |
| She does not suffer pain - she meditates on God. She is blessed, and very fortunate. |
|
| ਕਰਿ ਸਦਾ ਮਜਨੁ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸਜਨੁ ਦੁਖ ਅੰਧੇਰਾ ਨਾਸੇ ॥ |
| kar sadhaa majan gobindh sajan dhukh andhhaeraa naasae || |
| Take your cleansing ever in the Lord God, O friends, and the pain of darkness shall be dispelled. |
|
| ਅਮਰੁ ਥੀਆ ਫਿਰਿ ਨ ਮੂਆ ਕਲਿ ਕਲੇਸਾ ਦੁਖ ਹਰੇ ॥ |
| amar thheeaa fir n mooaa kal kalaesaa dhukh harae || |
| He becomes immortal, and shall not die again; his troubles, disputes and pains are dispelled. |
|
| ਸਭ ਕਾਮ ਪੂਰਨ ਦੁਖ ਬਿਦੀਰਨ ਹਰਿ ਨਿਮਖ ਮਨਹੁ ਨ ਬੀਸਰੈ ॥ |
| sabh kaam pooran dhukh bidheeran har nimakh manahu n beesarai || |
| God is the One who accomplishes everything; He is the Dispeller of pain. Never forget Him from your mind, even for an instant. |

| ਸਭਿ ਸੁਖ ਪਰਗਟਿਆ ਦੁਖ ਦੂਰਿ ਪਰਾਇਆ ਰਾਮ ॥ |
| sabh sukh paragattiaa dhukh dhoor paraaeiaa raam || |
| Total happiness was revealed, and pain was taken far away. |
|
| ਦੁਖ ਹਰਨ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਨ ਮੋਹਨ ਕਲਿ ਕਲੇਸਹ ਭੰਜਨਾ ॥ |
| dhukh haran kirapaa karan mohan kal kalaeseh bhanjanaa || |
| O Destroyer of pain, Bestower of Mercy, Fascinating Lord, Destroyer of sorrow and strife, |
|
| ਛੋਡਿ ਚਿੰਤ ਅਚਿੰਤ ਹੋਏ ਬਹੁੜਿ ਦੂਖੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ |
| shhodd chinth achinth hoeae bahurr dhookh n paaeiaa || |
| Abandoning anxiety, I have become carefree, and I shall not suffer in pain any longer. |
|
| ਸਭੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਚੋਜੁ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਸੁਖੁ ਤੁਧੁ ਪਾਸਿ ॥੨॥ |
| sabh thaeraa choj varathadhaa dhukh sukh thudhh paas ||2|| |
| Your wondrous play is pervading everywhere. I place my pain and pleasure before You. ||2|| |
|
| ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਵਸਾਇਆ ਦੁਖੁ ਕਟਿਆ ਚਾਨਣੁ ਕੀਆ ਕਰਤਾਰਿ ॥ |
| anthar sabadh vasaaeiaa dhukh kattiaa chaanan keeaa karathaar || |
| They enshrine the Shabad within their hearts; their pain is dispelled, and the Creator blesses them with the Divine Light. |
|
| ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਸਹਸਾ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਚੂਕੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਬਦੈ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਏ ॥ |
| anadhin sehasaa kadhae n chookai bin sabadhai dhukh paaeae || |
| Night and day, his doubts never stop; without the Word of the Shabad, he suffers in pain. |
|
| ਸਭਿ ਦੁਖ ਭੁਖ ਰੋਗ ਗਏ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਕ ਕੇ ਸਭਿ ਜਨ ਕੇ ਬੰਧਨ ਤੋੜੀਐ ॥ |
| sabh dhukh bhukh rog geae har saevak kae sabh jan kae bandhhan thorreeai || |
| All the pain, hunger, and disease of the Lord's servant are eradicated; the bonds of the humble beings are torn away. |
|
| ਆਪੇ ਸੁਖੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਦੇਵੈ ਕਰਤਾ ਆਪੇ ਬਖਸ ਕਰੀਜੈ ॥੮॥ |
| aapae sukh dhukh dhaevai karathaa aapae bakhas kareejai ||8|| |
| He Himself grants pleasure and pain; the Creator Himself bestows His gifts. ||8|| |
|
| ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੁਖੁ ਕਟੀਐ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਮਤਾ ਜਾਇ ॥ |
| janam maran dhukh katteeai houmai mamathaa jaae || |
| The pains of birth and death are eradicated, and the mind is rid of egotism and self-conceit. |
|
| ਅਨ ਰਸ ਸਾਦੇ ਲਗਿ ਰਹੀ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ॥੩॥ |
| an ras saadhae lag rehee dhukh paaeiaa dhoojai bhaae ||3|| |
| It remains attached to other pleasures, and through the love of duality, it suffers in pain. ||3|| |
|
| ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਕਰੂਪੀ ਦੂਖੁ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਆਗੈ ਜਾਇ ॥੨॥ |
| dhoojai bhaae karoopee dhookh paavehi aagai jaae ||2|| |
| In the love of duality, they appear so ugly; they suffer in pain as they go to the world beyond. ||2|| |
|
| ਅਉਗਣਵੰਤੀ ਕਾਮਣੀ ਦੁਖੁ ਲਾਗੈ ਬਿਲਲਾਇ ॥੩॥ |
| aouganavanthee kaamanee dhukh laagai bilalaae ||3|| |
| The unvirtuous woman suffers, and cries out in pain. ||3|| |
|
| ਦੂਖ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਹਮਾਰਾ ਸਗਲ ਮਿਟਾਇਆ ॥ |
| dhookh bhram hamaaraa sagal mittaaeiaa || |
| all of my pains and doubts have been eradicated. |
|
| ਨਾਮੁ ਮੀਠਾ ਮਨਹਿ ਲਾਗਾ ਦੂਖਿ ਡੇਰਾ ਢਾਹਿਆ ॥ |
| naam meethaa manehi laagaa dhookh ddaeraa dtaahiaa || |
| The Naam, the Name of the Lord, seems so sweet to my mind; it has destroyed the dwelling of pain. |
|
| ਦੂਖੁ ਗਇਆ ਸੁਖੁ ਆਇ ਸਮਾਣਾ ॥ |
| dhookh gaeiaa sukh aae samaanaa || |
| My pains are dispelled, and I am permeated with peace. |
|
| ਦੁਸਮਨੁ ਤ ਦੂਖੁ ਨ ਲਗੈ ਮੂਲੇ ਪਾਪੁ ਨੇੜਿ ਨ ਆਵਏ ॥ |
| dhusaman th dhookh n lagai moolae paap naerr n aaveae || |
| Enemies and pains shall never touch him, and sin shall never draw near him. |
|
| ਦੂਖ ਭੂਖ ਸੰਸਾਰਿ ਕੀਏ ਸਹਸਾ ਏਹੁ ਚੁਕਾਵਹੇ ॥ |
| dhookh bhookh sansaar keeeae sehasaa eaehu chukaavehae || |
| The pain and hunger of the world are Your making; dispel this doubt. |
|
| ਮਨਮੁਖ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਆਪੇ ਦੂਖਿ ਸੰਤਾਪੇ ਦੂਜੈ ਪਤਿ ਗਵਾਈ ॥ |
| manamukh maaeiaa moh viaapae dhookh santhaapae dhoojai path gavaaee || |
| The self-willed manmukhs are engrossed in emotional attachment to Maya; they suffer in pain, and through duality, they lose their honor. |
|
| ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਸਭੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਹੈ ਖੋਟਾ ਇਹੁ ਵਾਪਾਰਾ ਰਾਮ ॥ |
| maaeiaa mohu sabh dhukh hai khottaa eihu vaapaaraa raam || |
| The love of Maya is totally painful; this is a bad deal. |
|
| ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਸਭੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਹੈ ਖੋਟਾ ਇਹੁ ਵਾਪਾਰਾ ॥੨॥ |
| maaeiaa mohu sabh dhukh hai khottaa eihu vaapaaraa ||2|| |
| The love of Maya is totally painful; this is a bad deal. ||2|| |

| ਮਨਮੁਖ ਸੰਤਾ ਨਾਲਿ ਵੈਰੁ ਕਰਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਖਟੇ ਸੰਸਾਰਾ ॥ |
| manamukh santhaa naal vair kar dhukh khattae sansaaraa || |
| The self-willed manmukhs are resentful toward the Saints; they harvest only pain in this world. |
|
| ਮਾਇਆ ਕੇ ਵਾਪਾਰਾ ਜਗਤਿ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਆਵਣਿ ਜਾਣਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਈ ॥ |
| maaeiaa kae vaapaaraa jagath piaaraa aavan jaan dhukh paaee || |
| They love to deal in Maya in this world; coming and going, they suffer in pain. |
|
| ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੇਰੈ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਈ ਸਭਿ ਦੂਖ ਵਿਸਾਰਣਹਾਰਾ ॥ |
| har har naam maerai mann vasaaee sabh dhookh visaaranehaaraa || |
| The Name of the Lord, Har, Har, dwells within my mind; He is the Destroyer of all pain. |
|
| ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਿਨੀ ਆਰਾਧਿਆ ਤਿਨ ਕਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਭਰਮੁ ਭਉ ਭਾਗਾ ॥ |
| har har naam jinee aaraadhhiaa thin kaa dhukh bharam bho bhaagaa || |
| Those who worship in adoration the Name of the Lord, Har, Har - their pain, doubts and fears are dispelled. |
|
| ਸੋਈ ਭਗਤੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਸੁਖੁ ਸਮਤੁ ਕਰਿ ਜਾਣੈ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਤਾ ॥ |
| soee bhagath dhukh sukh samath kar jaanai har har naam har raathaa || |
| He alone is a devotee, who looks alike upon pleasure and pain; he is imbued with the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. |

| ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਧਾਰੀ ਸੁਖਦਾਤੇ ਦੁਖ ਲਾਥੇ ਪਾਪ ਸੰਤਾਪਾ ॥ |
| har prabh kirapaa dhhaaree sukhadhaathae dhukh laathhae paap santhaapaa || |
| The Lord God, the Giver of peace, has granted His Grace, and I am rid of pain, sin and disease. |
|
| ਤੂ ਦੁਖ ਭੰਜਨੁ ਸਰਬ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਹਮ ਪਾਥਰ ਤਰੇ ਤਰਾਇਆ ॥ |
| thoo dhukh bhanjan sarab sukhadhaathaa ham paathhar tharae tharaaeiaa || |
| You are the Destroyer of pain, the Giver of absolute peace; I am a stone - carry me across and save me. |

| ਦੁਖ ਨਾਸ ਭਰਮ ਬਿਨਾਸ ਤਨ ਤੇ ਜਪਿ ਜਗਦੀਸ ਈਸਹ ਜੈ ਜਏ ॥ |
| dhukh naas bharam binaas than thae jap jagadhees eeseh jai jeae || |
| Pain is eliminated and doubt is dispelled from the body; chanting the Name of the Lord of the World, their victory is celebrated. |

| ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦੂਖ ਦਰਦ ਭ੍ਰਮ ਹਰਤਾ ਰਾਮ ॥ |
| prabh dhookh dharadh bhram harathaa raam || |
| God is the Destroyer of pain, suffering and doubt. |

| ਭ੍ਰਮ ਦੂਖ ਦਰਦ ਨਿਵਾਰਿ ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਰਖਿ ਲੇਹੁ ਦੀਨ ਦੈਆਲਾ ॥ |
| bhram dhookh dharadh nivaar khin mehi rakh laehu dheen dhaiaalaa || |
| Eliminate my doubt, pain and suffering in an instant, and preserve me, O Lord, Merciful to the meek. |

| ਦਰਗਹ ਮਾਣੁ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਪਤਿ ਸਿਉ ਜਾਵਹਿ ਆਗੈ ਦੂਖੁ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ॥ |
| dharageh maan paavehi path sio jaavehi aagai dhookh n laagai || |
| They are honored in the Court of the Lord; they depart with honor, and they do not suffer pain in the world hereafter. |

| ਤੁਧੁ ਸਿਰਜੀ ਮੇਦਨੀ ਦੁਖੁ ਸੁਖੁ ਦੇਵਣਹਾਰੋ ॥ |
| thudhh sirajee maedhanee dhukh sukh dhaevanehaaro || |
| You created the Universe; You are the Giver of pain and pleasure. |

| ਸਿਰਿ ਸਿਰਿ ਸਚੜੈ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਦੁਖੁ ਸੁਖੁ ਪੁਰਬਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੋਵਾ ॥ |
| sir sir sacharrai likhiaa dhukh sukh purab veechaarovaa || |
| Upon each and every head, the True Lord writes their destiny of pain and pleasure, according to their past actions. |

| ਦੁਖੁ ਸੁਖੁ ਦੀਆ ਜੇਹਾ ਕੀਆ ਸੋ ਨਿਬਹੈ ਜੀਅ ਨਾਲੇ ॥ |
| dhukh sukh dheeaa jaehaa keeaa so nibehai jeea naalae || |
| He bestows pain and pleasure, according to the deeds done; the record of these deeds stays with the soul. |

| ਬਾਬਾ ਨਾਂਗੜਾ ਆਇਆ ਜਗ ਮਹਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਸੁਖੁ ਲੇਖੁ ਲਿਖਾਇਆ ॥ |
| baabaa naangarraa aaeiaa jag mehi dhukh sukh laekh likhaaeiaa || |
| O Baba, we come into the world naked, into pain and pleasure, according to the record of our account. |

| ਰੰਡ ਬੈਠੀ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਏ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਏ ਆਵ ਘਟੈ ਤਨੁ ਛੀਜੈ ॥ |
| randd baithee dhoojai bhaaeae maaeiaa mohi dhukh paaeae aav ghattai than shheejai || |
| She sits like a widow, in the love of duality; through emotional attachment to Maya, she suffers in pain. She is growing old, and her body is withering away. |
|
| ਜੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਆਇਆ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਜਾਸੀ ਦੁਖੁ ਲਾਗਾ ਭਾਇ ਦੂਜੈ ॥ |
| jo kishh aaeiaa sabh kishh jaasee dhukh laagaa bhaae dhoojai || |
| Whatever has come, all that shall pass away; through the love of duality, they suffer in pain. |

| ਅਪਨੇ ਗੁਰ ਕੰਉ ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਦੀਜੈ ਤਾਂ ਮਨੁ ਭੀਜੈ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਦੂਖ ਨਿਵਾਰੇ ॥ |
| apanae gur kano than man dheejai thaan man bheejai thrisanaa dhookh nivaarae || |
| Surrender body and soul to your Guru, and then you shall become happy; your thirst and pain shall be taken away. |
|
| ਕਿਆ ਦੇਨਿ ਮੁਹੁ ਜਾਏ ਅਵਗੁਣਿ ਪਛੁਤਾਏ ਦੁਖੋ ਦੁਖੁ ਕਮਾਏ ॥ |
| kiaa dhaen muhu jaaeae avagun pashhuthaaeae dhukho dhukh kamaaeae || |
| What face will they show, when they go there? They will regret and repent for their sins; their actions will bring them only pain and suffering. |
|
| ਦੁਸਮਨੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਤਿਸ ਨੋ ਨੇੜਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਪੋਹਿ ਨ ਸਕੈ ਕੋਇ ॥ |
| dhusaman dhukh this no naerr n aavai pohi n sakai koe || |
| Enemies and pain cannot come close, and no one can touch him. |
|
| ਐਥੈ ਦੁਖੋ ਦੁਖੁ ਕਮਾਵਣਾ ਮੁਇਆ ਨਰਕਿ ਨਿਵਾਸੁ ॥ |
| aithhai dhukho dhukh kamaavanaa mueiaa narak nivaas || |
| In this world, they earn only pain and suffering, and dying, they go to abide in hell. |
|
| ਦੁਖਿ ਲਗੈ ਘਰਿ ਘਰਿ ਫਿਰੈ ਅਗੈ ਦੂਣੀ ਮਿਲੈ ਸਜਾਇ ॥ |
| dhukh lagai ghar ghar firai agai dhoonee milai sajaae || |
| Afflicted with pain, he wanders from house to house, and in the world hereafter, he receives double punishment. |
|
| ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਸੇਵਿਐ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਦੁਖੁ ਜਾਇ ॥ |
| sathigur saeviai sadhaa sukh janam maran dhukh jaae || |
| Serving the True Guru, one finds a lasting peace; the pains of birth and death are removed. |
|
| ਜਿਨੀ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਬਚਨਿ ਆਰਾਧਿਆ ਤਿਨ ਵਿਸਰਿ ਗਏ ਸਭਿ ਦੁਖਾ ॥ |
| jinee gur kai bachan aaraadhhiaa thin visar geae sabh dhukhaa || |
| Those who worship the Lord in adoration, through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, forget all their pains and suffering. |
|
| ਜਿਨਿ ਜਮੁ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੋ ਸੇਵੀਐ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥ |
| jin jam keethaa so saeveeai guramukh dhukh n hoe || |
| So serve the One who created Death; as Gurmukh, no pain shall touch you. |
