| Enticed by Maya, he suffers in constant pain, without the most Beloved Guru. ||2|| |

| dhaekhai sunae n jaanee maaeiaa mohiaa andhh jeeo || |
| He does not see, he does not hear, and he does not understand; he is blind, enticed and bewitched by Maya. |

| ਨਰਕਿ ਸੁਰਗਿ ਅਵਤਾਰ ਮਾਇਆ ਧੰਧਿਆ ॥੩॥ |
| narak surag avathaar maaeiaa dhhandhhiaa ||3|| |
| Entangled in Maya, he is reincarnated in heaven and hell. ||3|| |

| ਮਾਇ ਨਿਰਾਸੀ ਰੋਇ ਵਿਛੁੰਨੀ ਬਾਲੀ ਬਾਲੈ ਹੇਤੇ ॥ |
| maae niraasee roe vishhunnee baalee baalai haethae || |
| Maya, crying out in pain, leaves, seeing that the bride and the groom are in love. |

| ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਇਆ ਰੋਗਿ ਵਿਆਪੇ ਮਰਿ ਜਨਮਹਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਹੋਈ ਰਾਮ ॥ |
| houmai maaeiaa rog viaapae mar janamehi dhukh hoee raam || |
| They are afflicted with the diseases of egotism and Maya, and they suffer the pains of death and rebirth. |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਪਸਾਰਾ ਆਗੈ ਸਾਥਿ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥੩॥ |
| naanak maaeiaa mohu pasaaraa aagai saathh n jaaee ||3|| |
| O Nanak, the wealth of Maya, attachment and ostentatious shows - none of them shall go along with him to the world hereafter. ||3|| |

| ਮੋਹੁ ਮਾਇਆ ਵੇ ਸਭ ਕਾਲਖਾ ਇਨਿ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਮੂੜਿ ਸਜੁਤੀਆ ॥ |
| mohu maaeiaa vae sabh kaalakhaa ein manamukh moorr sajutheeaa || |
| Attachment to Maya is total darkness; this foolish, self-willed manmukh is attached to it. |

| ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਭੂਲੀ ਬਹੁਤੀ ਰਾਹੀ ਫਾਥੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਫੰਦੇ ॥ |
| manamukh bhoolee bahuthee raahee faathhee maaeiaa fandhae || |
| The self-willed manmukh wanders along many paths, and is trapped in the net of Maya. |

| ਉਲਟੀ ਸਕਤਿ ਸਿਵੈ ਘਰਿ ਆਈ ਮਨਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਉ ॥ |
| oulattee sakath sivai ghar aaee man vasiaa har anmrith naao || |
| She turns away from Maya, and enters the celestial home of the Lord; the Ambrosial Name of the Lord dwells within her mind. |

| ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਗੁਬਾਰੁ ਹੈ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਰਮਾਈ ॥ |
| maaeiaa mohu gubaar hai dhoojai bharamaaee || |
| In the darkness of attachment to Maya, the world wanders in duality. |

| ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਸਭੁ ਕੂੜੁ ਹੈ ਕੂੜੋ ਹੋਇ ਗਇਆ ॥ |
| maaeiaa mohu sabh koorr hai koorro hoe gaeiaa || |
| Attachment to Maya is totally false, and false are those who go that way. |

| ਜਰਾ ਹਾਕ ਦੀ ਸਭ ਮਤਿ ਥਾਕੀ ਏਕ ਨ ਥਾਕਸਿ ਮਾਇਆ ॥੧॥ |
| jaraa haak dhee sabh math thhaakee eaek n thhaakas maaeiaa ||1|| |
| Driven forward by old age, all my senses are exhausted; only my attachment to Maya is not exhausted. ||1|| |
|
| ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਧਰਕਟੀ ਨਾਰਿ ॥ਭੂੰਡੀ ਕਾਮਣਿ ਕਾਮਣਿਆਰਿ ॥ |
| maaeiaa mohu dhharakattee naar || bhoonddee kaaman kaamaniaar || |
| Love of Maya is like a cursed woman, ugly, dirty and promiscuous. |

| ਚਖਿ ਛੋਡੀ ਸਹਸਾ ਨਹੀ ਕੋਇ ॥ |
| chakh shhoddee sehasaa nehee koe || |
| I tasted Maya and renounced it, and now, I have no doubts. |
|
| ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਮਾਇਆ ਮਾਹਿ ਨਿਸਤਾਰੇ ॥ |
| har jan maaeiaa maahi nisathaarae || |
| In the midst of Maya, the Lord's servant is emancipated. |

| ਮਾਇਆ ਕਾ ਰੂਪੁ ਸਭੁ ਤਿਸ ਤੇ ਹੋਇ ॥ |
| maaeiaa kaa roop sabh this thae hoe || |
| All the forms of Maya emanate from Him. |

| ਆਪੇ ਲਿਵ ਧਾਤੁ ਹੈ ਆਪੇ ॥ |
| aapae liv dhhaath hai aapae || |
| He Himself leads the mortals to focus on Him, and He Himself causes them to chase after Maya. |

| ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਇਆ ਸਬਦਿ ਜਲਾਈ ॥ |

| Through the Word of the Shabad, I have burnt away egotism and Maya. |

| Entangled in Maya, the mortal wanders around. Save Your humble servant, O Lord, |

| ਸਾਕਤ ਮੂੜ ਮਾਇਆ ਕੇ ਬਧਿਕ ਵਿਚਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਫਿਰਹਿ ਫਿਰੰਦੇ ॥ |
| saakath moorr maaeiaa kae badhhik vich maaeiaa firehi firandhae || |
| The foolish faithless cynics are held captive by Maya; in Maya, they continue wandering, wandering around. |

| ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿਆ ਤਿਨ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਭਿ ਤੂਟੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਫੰਦੇ ॥੩॥ |
| jin har japiaa thin fal paaeiaa sabh thoottae maaeiaa fandhae ||3|| |
| Those who meditate on the Lord obtain the fruits of their rewards, and the bonds of Maya are all broken. ||3|| |

| ਪਵਨ ਝੁਲਾਰੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇਇ ॥ |
| pavan jhulaarae maaeiaa dhaee || |
| The wind of Maya blows and shakes us, |

| ਪਾਇਆ ਵੇੜੁ ਮਾਇਆ ਸਰਬ ਭੁਇਅੰਗਾ ॥ |
| paaeiaa vaerr maaeiaa sarab bhueiangaa || |
| Maya, the snake, holds all in her coils. |

| ਹਰਿਚੰਦਉਰੀ ਚਿਤ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਸਖੀਏ ਮ੍ਰਿਗ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਦ੍ਰੁਮ ਛਾਇਆ ॥ |
| harichandhouree chith bhram sakheeeae mrig thrisanaa dhraam shhaaeiaa || |
| Maya is a mirage, which deludes the mind, O my companion, like the scent-crazed deer, or the transitory shade of a tree. |

| ਚੰਚਲਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਨ ਚਾਲਤੀ ਸਖੀਏ ਅੰਤਿ ਤਜਿ ਜਾਵਤ ਮਾਇਆ ॥ |
| chanchal sang n chaalathee sakheeeae anth thaj jaavath maaeiaa || |
| Maya is fickle, and does not go with you, O my companion; in the end, it will leave you. |

| ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਸੁਤ ਸਾਥਿ ਨ ਮਾਇਆ ॥ |
| maath pithaa suth saathh n maaeiaa || |
| Mother, father, children and the wealth of Maya, will not go along with you. |

| ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਮਾਇਆ ਪਟਲਿ ਬਿਸਰਿਆ ॥੩॥ |
| paarabreham maaeiaa pattal bisariaa ||3|| |
| Caught in the illusion of Maya, you have forgotten the Supreme Lord. ||3|| |

| ਕਾਹੂ ਸੰਗਿ ਨ ਚਾਲਹੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਜੰਜਾਲ ॥ |
| kaahoo sang n chaalehee maaeiaa janjaal || |
| The entanglements of Maya do not go along with anyone. |
|
| ਦਾਸੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਏ ਕਰਮ ਹਮਾਰੇ ॥੨॥ |
| dhaasee sangath prabhoo thiaag eae karam hamaarae ||2|| |
| I am worthless. I associate with Maya, your hand-maiden, and I renounce You, God; such are my actions. ||2|| |

| ਮਤ ਭੂਲਹੁ ਮਾਨੁਖ ਜਨ ਮਾਇਆ ਭਰਮਾਇਆ ॥ |
| math bhoolahu maanukh jan maaeiaa bharamaaeiaa || |
| Don't be fooled, O mortal being, by the illusion of Maya. |

| ਜੀਵਤਿਆ ਅਥਵਾ ਮੁਇਆ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਾਮਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ॥ |
| jeevathiaa athhavaa mueiaa kishh kaam n aavai || |
| In life and in death, this Maya is of no use. |

| ਜਾ ਸਿਉ ਰਾਚਿ ਮਾਚਿ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਲਾਗੇ ਓਹ ਮੋਹਨੀ ਮੋਹਾਵਤ ਹੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |

| You are totally attached to that Enticer Maya; she is enticing you. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਮਨੁ ਮਾਇਆ ਬੰਧਿਓ ਸਰ ਜਾਲਿ ॥ |

| Maya has caught the mind in the trap of the whirlpool. |

| ਮਾਇਆ ਮਦਿ ਮਾਤੇ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ॥ |
| maaeiaa madh maathae thripath n aavai || |
| Intoxicated with the wine of Maya, satisfaction never comes. |

| ਨਾਮੁ ਵਿਸਾਰਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਮਦੁ ਪੀਆ ॥ |
| naam visaar maaeiaa madh peeaa || |
| Forgetting the Naam, the Name of the Lord, he drinks in the wine of Maya. |

| ਤ੍ਰੈ ਗੁਣ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿ ਵਿਆਪੇ ਤੁਰੀਆ ਗੁਣੁ ਹੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਲਹੀਆ ॥ |
| thrai gun maaeiaa mohi viaapae thureeaa gun hai guramukh leheeaa || |
| In the grip of the three qualities, they are engrossed in love and attachment to Maya; only as Gurmukh do they find the absolute quality, absorption in bliss. |

| ਮਨਮੁਖ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿ ਵਿਆਪੇ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਜਲਤ ਤਿਖਈਆ ॥ |
| manamukh maaeiaa mohi viaapae eihu man thrisanaa jalath thikheeaa || |
| The self-willed manmukhs are engrossed in attachment to Maya; their minds are thirsty, burning with desire. |

| ਆਈ ਪੂਤਾ ਇਹੁ ਜਗੁ ਸਾਰਾ ॥ |
| aaee poothaa eihu jag saaraa || |
| This whole world is the child of Maya. |
|
| ਮੰਗਲਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਉਪਾਇਆ ॥ |
| mangal maaeiaa mohu oupaaeiaa || |
| Tuesday: The Lord created love and attachment to Maya. |

| ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿ ਪਾਜੇ ॥ |

| The beings and creatures are engrossed in emotional attachment to Maya. |

| ਓਹ ਜੋਹੈ ਬਹੁ ਪਰਕਾਰ ਸੁੰਦਰਿ ਮੋਹਨੀ ॥ |

| Maya seduces in so many ways, like a beautiful enticing woman. |

| ਹੋਇ ਢੀਠ ਮੀਠੀ ਮਨਹਿ ਲਾਗੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਲੈਣ ਨ ਆਵਏ ॥ |
| hoe dteeth meethee manehi laagai naam lain n aaveae || |
| Maya is stubborn and persistent; she seems so sweet to the mind, and then he does not chant the Naam. |

| ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਏਹ ਆਸਾ ਦੂਜੇ ਭਾਵ ਕੀ ਜੋ ਮੋਹਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਏ ॥ |
| dhhrig eaeh aasaa dhoojae bhaav kee jo mohi maaeiaa chith laaeae || |
| Cursed are the hopes in the love of duality; they tie the consciousness to love and attachment to Maya. |

| ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਸੂਤੇ ਕਬਹੁ ਨ ਜਾਗਹਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹ ਪਿਆਰ ॥ |
| dhoojai bhaae soothae kabahu n jaagehi maaeiaa moh piaar || |
| Asleep in the love of duality, they never wake up; they are attached to the love of Maya. |

| ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਣੀ ਦੂਜੈ ਲਗੈ ਜਾਇ ॥ |
| houmai maaeiaa mohanee dhoojai lagai jaae || |
| Through egotism, fascination with Maya has trapped them in duality. |
